We have been here many times and reserved months ago. When we arrived we were told, due to a large party, our table was put on the street. We agreed and sat and ordered. We were told the stone crab app was $28 and we ordered. Apps came ot ontime and dinner was so late I told them if it wasn't out next to bill us for what we ate and we'd pay. Our dinner finally showed up. When we asked for the bill we saw the stone crab app was $70. I went inside to question and was told I was wrong and the 2 claws we ordered were $70. Birthday trip to Key West The restaurant is small and unassuming from the outside. But when you walk through the door you find a hidden treasure. The food was absolutely fantastic. And the desert menu leaves no sweets aficionado out. All of the perfectly cooked food was served by a Waite staff that listen to the customers and delivery a true dining experience. Upon completing our dinner we were approached by the owner who wanted to make sure we were satisfied and wished us a good night. The food and service were excellent. European style with lots of variety on the menu. They had Kir which I really like but don't see it often. I had the shrimp scampi and the shrimp was fresh and well prepared. My husband had the filet mignon which was delicious. The waitstaff was courteous and attentive. Worth the visit. Best dinner I've had in a while. The ambiance, service, and food .. all 10/10. It's dark and intimate with candlelit tables. The wine list is extensive and reasonably priced. The escargot was phenomenal, so tender. We also ordered the artichokes, conch, tuna, and portobello soup. All delicious!! For entrees, we ordered skirt steak, filet, duck, snapper, lamb chops, and scallops. I can't say enough to recommend each entree dish, you can order anything and be (overly) content with your dinner. We ordered key lime pie and creme brûlée for desert. Do yourself a favor and save room for creme brûlée. It's my favorite desert and they have MASTERED it. Go here! You won't regret it. read more

I took my 10 year old boy on a date to Cafe Sole when we were visiting Key West and it was such a lovely experience! The food was amazing, the service was wonderful. Staff was very educated about pairings and gave wonderful recommendations. The escargot was one of the best preparations I've ever had. The portobello soup was the creamiest, dreamiest, umamiest ever. The hog snapper sole was cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth. I especially appreciated the variety and portions of sides. I will absolutely make a point of visiting this restaurant every time I return to the area. In fact, I very well may return to key west solely for this place. The portobello mushroom was the only thing I enjoyed besides the complimentary bread and hummus. The lobster bisque tasted nothing like lobster and more like a scoop of the ocean with an extremely strong fishy flavor. The texture was horrendous and grainy. The "special" hogfish tasted like fish and chips. The fish was completely flavorless so if you prefer blander fish then this might be the move for you. My boyfriend who doesn't like fish actually liked the hogfish. The sides are extremely lackluster. Not sure what the hype was about. I did enjoy my boyfriends dish and he got the shrimp solé. read more

The sunset special on weeknights from 5-6 is awesome! Probably the best deal in town! All entrees are buy one get one and glasses of wine (in their under $12 section) are buy one get one! The space is intimate and I think mostly outdoor dining. If you get there before six you are good to make the sunset special, we set a reservation for 5:45 and the temperature outside when we got there was warm but not too bad! We love this spot mainly because of one thing: they have the best hogfish dish we've eaten on the island. It's really delicious and comes with three small sides--a mash, carrots, and beans. Whenever we're craving fish, Sole is on our list! The atmosphere is really cute. There are a couple tables and booths in the back that are air-conditioned. Otherwise there's a very well covered outdoor patio (where most of the seating is). There are many, many fans going so it gets a nice breeze in there. One other thing: bugs are ALWAYS going after me down here (those no-see-ums), but I've never had a problem with bugs on their patio. Definitely worth a visit! read more

What a horrible experience. We arrived for our 7:45 reservation. The hostess could not have been more unfriendly. It was as if we were bothering her by showing up. No hello, not a smile, took us to our table and said nothing. Then there was the waitress. My wife ordered the Hogfish. All she wanted with it was asparagus and the sauce on the side. Apparently accommodating a simple request upsets them. The waitress had to check with the chef and then said the asparagus was an up charge. Ok I can live with that. Meal comes. Waitress says we couldn't put the sauce on the side because we don't have containers the right size. Seriously? All the other stuff my wife said she didn't want, was on the plate. Waitress says "chef likes the way the plate looks with all of these things on it." She did get the asparagus, 4 spears. When she asked is that a side of asparagus the waitress says "yeah sometimes you get 4 sometimes 5 spears. I guess you only get 4." This place is not user friendly. The attitude of everyone we dealt with was rude. The food was good but due to the attitude and rudeness we will never be back. read more

What an adorable little place in a cute neighborhood just far away enough from the chaos of Duval Street. Their lobster bisque was SO good. Meat in every bite. We had the crab appetizer (hot), which was so sweet and delicious. For an entre, I had the salmon. Delicious. I took back to our hotel some of the best key lime pie I've ever had in my life. Unfortunately we have to say Cafe No Way. We booked Christmas Eve dinner reservations several months ago. We come to Key West every Christmas and have only eaten here once which was several years ago. We decided to splurge for Christmas Eve dinner. Our dinner reservation was for 7:15pm, party of 3. We checked in at 7:11pm and they said to wait outside until they call our name. Twenty minutes went by, so I told my husband I was going to give it another 10 minutes before we decide what to do. Another 10 minutes went by, my husband went to the Host and was in there for several minutes. We assumed he was talking to the Host, but in reality we think they were avoiding eye contact. When he finally was able to get a hold of someone (a female who wasn't friendly and didn't smile) said we are on the list. The list?? We had reservations for 35 minutes ago. He could see the list she was referring to and we were #6 to be called. She said it at best, it'll be another 30 minutes. We were so excited all day to have dinner here. We've heard great things about there food. However, we were dissappointed by the lack of customer service and no apology or anything. We won't be returning to Cafe Sole. It was unfortunate since we knew it would be busy on Christmas Eve and booked this reservation months ago. We walked all over trying to find a restaurant. Every other place was so friendly and nice. Even if they couldn't fit us in. We ended up going to Antonia's and it was absolutely wonderful! We definitely recommend Antonia's! Great service and great food! read more

Very disappointed. Came here for dinner on the recommendation of a friend. The food was great and so was the service but the overall experience was sorely lacking. We arrived at 8 and were promptly waited on and ordered a bottle of wine. Wine arrived and the waiter came back and took our dinner order. The back waiter brought out the bread and immediately behind him came our food. We couldn't believe it. We had not placed our order more that 5 minutes previously. As i aid the food was good but we felt so rushed. We had not had a chance to relax and enjoy even a glass of wine yet. We were in at 8 and out the door by 8:35 and that includes dessert. So I really was looking forward to Cafe Sole. We had booked weeks ago for June 3rd. Normally, whether its Yelp, OpenTable, Tock etc, we receive a text or call to confirm reservations. After not hearing from the Cafe Sole I decided to call. II got a voice recording that it was May 29th and they would be closed to /or about June 8th. I checked my confirmation email and thought I would see if it was still there. It was cancelled. Its three hours before our 7:30p reservation and I have nothing on a Saturday night. I think its terrible that we received zero notification. I wish I could of given a review on the food, but instead I have to provide a lousy review on their poor professionalism. Pathetic read more

A true culinary gem. Expertly prepared dishes with a nice balance of familiar regional favourites and some more exotic creations (portobello soup is a must try!). Every single course was a delight. Really solid experience last night, mostly highs, with a couple of not-as-highs = 4.5 stars, but yelp doesn't do that, so 4 it is.. The hogfish was the best fish I have ever had in my life - I didn't realize that fish could be that delicate and taste that good. Our table mates also said that the Key Lime Pie was the best KLP that they had ever had and they travel a lot, so I believe them. So, based on those things, 5+ stars. The service was great, the atmosphere was cozy. The special was a ribeye, my wife can't eat seafood, so she went with that and it was just so-so. Just not what you would expect from a restaurant that knocked everything else out of the park. The first three bottles of wine that we tried to order were out of stock. That's just an irritant that you don't need, am I right? We were able to walk there from our place in Old Town, which made for a nice night. read more

Our reservation was at 8:15pm and honestly it felt like we were an afterthought. We started with lobster bisque And a glass of wine. (Beer and wine only) It was an uneventful bisque. We had hog snapper entree and the seafood trio pasta. Both were ok, not great, but ok. We finished up with banana foster. Again, ok not great or special. It feels like the shine has worn off of this once popular restaurant.
