We came here for lunch and I had planned to order a salad…read more Then I saw the steep prices for salad on the menu (around 14€) and decided I needed to order something else. ;-) Next thing I knew, I saw the following option: 'Die schärfste Currywurst am Chiemsee' - and I knew I had to try it. We also ordered Spaghetti Aglio e Olio for Junior and the salmon Stockerlfisch for my husband. My food was just OK. They used some kind of red beef sausage for the currywurst which I am guessing is a local thing, but it was decent. The Thai-inspired curry sauce was rather lame unfortunately. It kind of felt as if they had just mixed two store-bought sauces together. It had a bit of heat, but if that makes it the spiciest curry sausage around the lake, then I don't want to try the others. LOL The fries were just OK as well. The spaghetti were pretty good. They were al dente and not too oily. The star of this lunch was definitely the Stockerlfisch. I never had freshwater salmon before and was quite interested to see how it compares to the Pacific salmon I usually eat. I am happy to report that it was quite nice. The fish had a good flavor and was well prepared without being dry. Totally recommended to try it. A note about the service: It was quite slow, but this place is super busy so I feel you need to take this into account. At the same time, every waiter I talked to or observed seemed very friendly and in a good mood - and that is certainly worth mentioning if a place is buzzing like Westernacher.

We enjoyed a pretty good lunch here. It was the middle of December so the weather was not so great…read morebut it was still enjoyable to eat a leisurely lunch in the glass terrace while watching the boats shuttle tourists to the Schloss Herrenchiemsee. The schnitzels and frites were excellent and the tea service was very nice as well. The wait staff spoke a little English and were friendly to us. There was no English menu but it wasn't a problem for us to find what we wanted (schnitzel!). Very enjoyable option if you find yourself in this area.

It is beautifully located opposite a parking lot on the country road beside a scenic lake. It is the perfect location to relax for a while on your road trip in the alps. Very much kids friendly with play area and grass. One can also hire a boat or swim in the lake if t hey desire. We throughly enjoyed this place. We only took a coffee break here and hence didn't eat food. Crepes, tea, chocolate cake, hot chocolate, coffee, Apple strudel and freshly squeezed orange juice. They all were par excellence :).
