This place has several other dishes that might peak your interest but I can't resist the traditional seasonings in the dibi. Drinks were decent...but the music and ambiance were great for a date night. Went another time for brunch and had their salmon burger, it turned out burnt, there was barely any lettuce, tomato or onions within the burger itself which was upsetting and the fries were a small portion and seemed like they served the bottom of a batch. I gave this restaurant several chances, today was the last time. The first time I stopped in, it was good. I had a burger with fries and a South African beer I can't remember the name of. I raved about it to friends and even brought one with me to brunch. The service was awful then and the food was bland, but I figured maybe they were just having a bad day. I went back again and learned the horrible service is pretty much the norm. Today, I was one of maybe 5 people in the restaurant when I arrived. It took more than 10 mins for me to get service at the bar, because somehow, the restaurant scheduled just one person for the cafe, bar, tables, etc. I ordered a coffee and received it lukewarm, black and no cream; before I could ask for a fresh cup and cream, the bartender/waiter, who was extremely rude and curt I found, was whisked away again. It took another 40 mins before I could order food. By then, the restaurant had gotten fuller and I was fed up. I asked to pay for just the cold coffee I hadn't even drank, and was told there was a $15 minimum for card purchases. The nerve! Rather than wait another hour, I fumbled through my bag for change and thankfully had it. But never again will I go back to this place nor recommend it. Absolutely horrible. Delicious food. We made a reservation to celebrate fathers day. We both had the calamari to share, the Senegal drink with hibiscus, ginger OMG. I could drink 4 of these soo good. The lamb dish with sauteed onions, sweet plantain and couscous. The 3 lamb chops had a smoky flavor, well seasoned. My husband and I were trying to be proper and use the utensil but it was so good we just picked up the meat and chomp on it will our hands. My only complaint was to my liking it could have been cooked longer to render the fat and cartilage. A little too chewy for me personally. We enjoyed our meal and all the flavors. We went with Cafe Rue Dix because they offered vegan options. I liked the vegan stew, it felt right for the season, very hearty and comforting. I also had the hummus which was herbal tasting but bland and the pita that came with it was scarce for the amount of hummus we received. Mostly everyone enjoyed their meals but no one really liked their drinks. I found mine to be too citrusy and bitter (almost all their options had ginger or citrus in them). I spoke to Mike and got the same response. But before he hung up, he said they were busy and didn't have time to talk. We called them at 6pm for an early dinner. Great outdoor dining option with minimal contact! Ordering happens at the door, you pay, you sit, food is brought to you, and you're left to enjoy it. I went on a Saturday evening, all tables are a safe distance away from each other, hand sanitizer is available. I ordered the salmon and had only the sautéed kale with it, it was perfect. Cafe Rue Dix is quaint and well-decorated. The food is amazing and decently priced. I especially love the Bohemian omelet. My word! So good! I always bring my appetite and clear my plate when eating here. Their drinks are well made as well. I usually get the Bloody Maria, but have also tried their other brunch drinks. Service is great. It was around 6:30pm on a warm Tuesday in February (yesterday) when I walked into this dimly lit restaurant. There was only one other guest upon arrival so the tables were all fair game. My date and I were quickly greeted by a smiling and warm gentleman. He told us to sit wherever we wanted and handed us a few menus. So many things on the menu looked good but we finally decided on the bronzino with plantains and a pyramid of white rice for me and a burger with fries for her. I got a green juice and she got something that tasted like a green juice with rum, but better (you all know I don't appreciate alcohol). By the time we ordered, the restaurant had filled up a bit. Everyone seemed to be in good spirits and I'm going to assume it was partly because of the host/waiter who continued to be friendly and enthusiastic about all of his guests. The fish was spicy, which normally I wouldn't like, but it tasted so fresh and was cooked so well that I hardly minded. I literally left a pile of bones on my plate. My juice also tasted fresh despite the waiter telling me that it was pre-made when I asked if I could concoct my own special juice blend. I would have never known if he didn't say anything. The burger was cooked as ordered and the fries were crispy and plentiful. I was so satisfied with the meal that I actually forgot about dessert. That does not happen often. Not surprisingly enough, my date reminded me that we hadn't had ice cream in a while, so we stopped at a supermarket and met up with our friends Ben & Jerry on the way home. I love this place! I love the atmosphere, in the summer it's cute and airy with the doors open, in cooler weather it's more cozy. And the food is delicious. The coffee is good, as is the Bohemian Omelette, french toast, and the shrimp linguine. The kale zinger is good too (ask for parmesan) The portion sizes are perfect. My friend lives nearby (and now I live not too far), it's a great place for brunch or an early dinner. They don't get 5 stars because the service is always very slow, no matter the time of day or how many people are there. read more

Enjoyed a wonderful, leisurely, decadent dinner here. The restaurant looks like a cozy Parisian bistro from the outside and once you're seated you enjoy that same charm. The music is loud enough to fully enjoy but not too much that you can't hear your dinner companion. Now on to the important stuff - the food. I love Senegalese food and this meal did not disappoint. We both started with summery drinks, mine was some kind of fizzy hibiscusy concoction. I had the mafe (beef stewed in spicy peanut sauce) and he had the dibi Senegal. Both were delicious and savory and spicy. We capped our meal with dessert - bae had the bread pudding and I had the best profiteroles ever. How they managed to get the puff pastry to be both crunchy yet soft and moist is a miracle. I definitely want to make another trip! read more

The Rue Dix burger for brunch hit the spot in a way I never knew could. It was perfectly seasoned witht eh bun perfect toasted. The special sauce was spicey (in terms of spices and not heat), and it was the perfect blend. The highlight was Crepe Monsieur. That was 'what's up.' Any explanation I give will not do it justice. You are just going to have to go and try it yourself. If it's on the menu, and you can eat all the ingredients, you HAVE to get this. The waitresses are very helpful, knowledgeable about the food menu, and made good recommendations. The only problem is that they get a bit overwhelmed when it gets crowded. One tip is to make sure u make ur order ASAP because if you don't, you may not see the her for a while. The decor is cute. I love the open air doorways, and it's like you're eating on a sidewalk in France. I say come, on a nice day. I think it feels more like a bar during the colder seasons. Slow, dizzy service. Got our order mixed up. I brought two coworkers to check this place out during our lunch hour. When we arrived at 12:45p on a Friday in August 2014 the restaurant had two customers at two tables with their laptops. The lighting was dim and intimate. There was only one waitress who took her time. We ordered the steak sandwich with mozerrella cheese, a portabella sandwich with blue cheese and one without cheese. The service was really slow. The waitress was too laid back and it was hard to get her attention for water or for ordering. When our orders arrived, they got our order wrong: they put the mozerrella cheese on the potabella sandwich, and the blue cheese on the steak. Due to us being at work at lunch hour, we quickly finish and did not bother to let them know or risk getting back to work late. The service was too slow for us so we won't be coming back during our lunch hour. The sandwich was delicious and so was the salad, but again, if you have time to kill and some $$ to spend on sandwich, this may be for you. read more

I was rather underwhelmed by my visit here. Invited by a friend who has been here several times, even she was underwhelmed by her entree the night we went. Restaurant is quite small and seats are very close together so if you are going to be discussing top CIA secrets, this may not be the venue for your chatter. I didn't mind the seating because we were at the edge so it was easy to move about. Plus it was not that crowded while we dined. I had a mocktail which I really enjoyed, it was cilantro limeade. Very refreshing. Appetizers were also very good- Senegalese rolls were wonderful. They had a kick of spice to them. My friend had the Tuna Tartare. Well it went down hill from there. We were both deciding between the Thiebou Jen or Dibi Senegal...we got 1 of each. My Dibi Senegal came with couscous but the meat was very disappointing. First it was dark in the restaurant, the table candles did not help me notice that the meat was charred on one side. But my palate was still able to decipher that the meat was burnt on one side. They need to improve the light, I mean who wants to eat in the bloody dark? Can I get a flash light so I can see my food? If you know how horrible the "charred" taste is in your mouth, well that's how horrible it was to eat the meat of the Dibi Senegal. One side looked good, the other side was charred. Very hard to enjoy. I left the meal there 3/4 uneaten, I was able to eat the couscous. I was asked if I wanted to take it home? For what? The Thiebou Jen my friend ordered came with rice that was super salty. She actually returned it, spoke to the chef whom she was familiar with so they took that off the bill. Either way, very disappointed with the entree. I was looking forward to some senegalese meal but oh well. Can't win with every restaurant. My opinion is visit for drinks and apps, that's why I am giving it 3 stars read more

My friends and I stumbled upon this gem after the brunch spot at which we were trying to eat had an absurd wait time. Though the service was on the slow side, I was impressed with the diverse menu and fun drinks (cilantro lemonade, cucumber lemonade, rose lemonade). We started with a baguette with house made orange marmalade that was perfection. Afterwards (but kind of simultaneously since the bread took so long to come out), I got the huevos rancheros which was delicious but had a spin. It was served over nachos, the cheese was French tasting, and the combination of the sauces hit me with more spice than other huevos rancheros. I would order this meal again. My friends both enjoyed their food as well and the (very loud) table next to us practically licked their plates clean. The ambience felt like a small European cafe, but it was very crowded. My group's table was adjoined to another group's table. So close that the man next to me and I could bump elbows. Our table partially blocked one of the entries. I wish I could give half stars here because I feel a 3.5 would be perfect for the experience. The space is small and can get loud/crowded, but I believe that if you can find the right time to eat here that it could be a 4/5 star experience. read more

Second is that the tables are incredibly sticky and that the host will be no means actually communicate w/you other then to bring stuff to the table. Half way through our meal he packed a a party of six into a four top, which meant three three men were scrunched into an area meant to seat two people. My date was subsequently elbowed out of the way so this guy could take up half our table on her side. Quite rude and again no checking in at all by the host. Food was so-so. Burger w/egg on top where the egg was very well done. What's the point it it doesn't run some? Now I remember my experience here from a few years ago and why I didn't come back. If you have a party of 4 or more, it would be best to arrive early or call ahead. If you are seated at the tables by the bar, please know that some patron(s) will not respect your eating space and will toot buttocks on your shoulder or by your food. Now for the food... I had the smoked salmon omelet. It was so, so, so delicious. It came with fries but, I think this dish would do better with an order of home fries instead. Food here is amazing. I had a mocha latte and the omelette bohemian. This place is very vegetarian friendly. The omelette was cooked well and the side salad was very tasty and fresh. My man friend had the burger and fries. The burger was cooked to perfection. It was juicy and quite tasty according to him. We plan on coming back here to try out the dinner menu and I certainly plan on returning for happy hour. You MUST try this place out.
