The tea gradens themselves are well mainatined with beautiful flowering bushes. There is a great variety of seating with a larger grassed area to one side, which is great for picnic blankets and for children to run around. The tea shop itself servers a range of hot and cold beverages, homemade cakes, ice creams, sweets, crisps, biscuits and sometimes bubbles.

But since I've come along, Costa has done very well, and seems to be busy from opening to closing (around 630, which is in line with the brutal hours everywhere in this small town). Mornings feature an abnormal number of moms meeting up with their babies and strollers in tow. Only within the last year did they introduce free wireless internet, which is what has brought me in. During my study/writer retreats to Whitstable, I stay in a cottage with no internet or TV, so I am otherwise cut off from the world. So for a few hours each morning, I sit with my coffee and pre-made and then heated sandwich and use their glorious wifi, which is actually pretty fast too. The staff are very nice and never make me feel uncomfortable for loitering. After awhile they started to recognize me and what I like to order (the flat white) But the coffee itself is consistent with Costa standards, which is to say appalling. I usually have their flat white, which is passable. Don't ever have their cappuccino. Whitstable has a ton of great coffee places, and you can do better than Costa if that is your goal. But if wifi and comfort is your aim, then you can't find much better than Costa on the main road in Whitstable.

Set 2 minutes back from Whitstable beach, Windy Corner is the perfect place or Sunday Brunch (or weekday lunch or coffees). The food itself is mostly sourced from local producers and they have an artisan baker who uses the cafe after hours and supplies the bread. The menu is constantly changing depending on what the staff have felt like cooking, but if it can be made from what they stock, they can make it for you. Having been a while since I've been here the pricing is not as great as it used to be. £4 used to get you a large portion of poached eggs on toast with 2 thick slices of artisan bread and 3 perfectly poached eggs. Today I got 1 slice and 2 eggs for the same price. The other portions of things like lasagne and such seemed unchanged. Despite my minor gripe this is still a fantastic little place to go for a lunch or a coffee in whitstable.
