So I'm here for work and my coworkers have eaten here twice already. Apparently it's a must in this…read moresmall town, so on one of our last nights here we decided to bring the entire staff. It's a nice space, big enough for a large group and pretty comfortable.
The service is a bit slow but the waiter was very kind and welcoming. After a carafe of wine, I decided to do my typical Italian ordering and get several courses. First course was the garlic shrimp antipasti. The waiter said it was the best, I thought It was okay; the shrimp were pretty small and it was served in a snail dish, you know the one with little pockets for the snails. It made it complicated to eat. But they gave me some bread and butter with it, so dipping it in the garlic butter made it tasty. I was disappointed they didn't have the snails tonight but it's stjordal on a Tuesday and I can't get everything I want.
I had the lasagna for my pasta dish and the filet di manzo for my main. The lasagna was really good. Just the right amount of cheese to pasta to meat ratio. It could have used a bit more of a kick, but as a fan of lasagna I was definitely happy. The filet di manzo, and by the way I'm pretty sure I'm spelling it wrong, was essentially a steak covered in Gorgonzola sauce. The steak was perfectly cooked, the vegetables and potatoes were really good too. It obviously had a strong pungent taste because of the Gorgonzola but it wasn't overpowering and I enjoyed it all.
So we tried getting tiramisu for dessert and we thought our communication was solid, but after ordering it, he brought us the creme brûlée instead and insisted it was what we ordered... but didn't make us pay for it. I thought that was pretty cool of him, so I couldn't complain too much.
Hey, it's not Italy, but for such a small area it was definitely a great experience and I would come back. My coworkers were wow'd by their dishes so I still have most of the menu to go through.
