Steak Frites

Lemon Rice Chicken is a perfect treat for a cold day, or any day to be honest. Simply delicious! Also, their Brussels sprouts are a must. We ordered the walleye and it was good. It's served on a bed of potato's with a wine sauce. Their lamb shank plate is definitely a shareable plate and the steak and frites comes with a good size piece and is very flavorful. This place has great drinks, a cool patio area and their staff is knowledgeable and super welcoming and accommodating for big parties. Check out their daily specials and happy hour.

When both my friend (Ali K) and my mom (Judy K) suggested Cafe ML for dinner for our party of five on a Tuesday night (tonight), I made a reservation immediately, because... well how often do you get a group of five women to agree on a restaurant that easily? It was no problem to accommodate us, so when we walked in around 6:15 to a very jam packed restaurant on the eve of a major snowstorm, I was pleasantly surprised! Service was spot on as were the drinks, food and company... We started with edamame, hummus and brussels sprouts appetizers and had a mix of fatoush salads, burger and fries for entrees. We were too full for dessert, but we did sit and talk for awhile and didn't feel rushed at all. I would absolutely return to Cafe ML with kids, friends, or for a date night...

We originally wanted to meet some friends here for lunch but they had conflicts so we did it by ourselves. They open at 2pm so it's a late lunch at that but we were out and about anyway and it didn't really matter to us. After a friendly greeting we were told that they currently offer dine in inside or patio and it was a nice mild day so we decided to try the Patio. It was comfortable and not too busy when we were there so customers were seated at reasonable distances from each other. There were heaters above that were a bit too warm for that mild weather but would be comfortable if it was much colder. They also limit group size to six for now. We had been studying the Yelp reviews, photos, and menus for a while leading up to our visit. Unfortunately, two of the dishes my wife had selected from photos were not currently on the menu so she took another look for something else to order! I didn't have any problem as I was going to order the ML Burger because it seemed like a popular item based on the number of photos and descriptions. I also ordered the Korean Fried Chicken (KFC) minus the Cashews due to allergies. My wife decided on the Singapore Noodle Bowl with Tofu and we went into anticipation mode! The KFC came out fairly quickly so we got started. These are boneless almost like Chicken Tenders and had a little spicy sauce that my wife didn't really care for, but I liked it. It is served with some sauced Cucumber slices that help offset the heat. Then our main dishes arrived and we continued. The ML Burger and Fries definitely deserves the hype. I ordered it medium and that's exactly what I got. With Truffle Cheese and Truffle Aioli I was concerned it might be too strong but the flavors were nicely balanced; and I really enjoyed the Fries as well. The Singapore Noodle Bowl my wife said was disappointing and lacked flavor. I tasted it and have to say I agree, of course that's compared with one of the best Burgers I've had in years. Cafe ML has a very eclectic menu that is changed up periodically with a nice selection of interesting choices along with helpful and friendly service. I can definitely vouch for the KFC and the ML Burger!

Posting an update from my Son's valentine's day visit with the gift certificate the owner sent to encourage me to give them another try. Ahi tuna- excellent. Perfect amount of acid and sweetness balanced with salt. The small diced cucumber and red onion gave it an excellent texture and the crispy wontons gave it a much needed crunch Korean fried chicken- perfection. Smokey and spicy, crispy enough to hold all of the sauce without getting soggy and the marinated cucumbers help cut through the heat perfectly. Baked feta- a salt bomb in the best way. The roasted peppers adds the sweetness needed to help mellow out all the salt from the olives, capers, and feta Shrimp pad Thai- very good. We ordered it at a medium spice level but didn't seem to have much kick at all. Flavors were balanced nicely and shrimp was cook perfectly Singapore street noodles with chicken- also very good. Chicken was incredibly tender and packed with flavors. The noodles were cooked perfectly and still had a good bite to them. The sauce was excellent with great flavors and consistency. Red velvet cake-fantastic. Perfectly soft and very moist. The frosting was delicious and the marinated strawberries almost made us lick the plate clean. Gin Martini- excellent Server Sharon and bartender James were awesome and very friendly!!

One of our kids ordered french toast, and somehow we missed that it was topped with a fruit compote. When Mya stopped by the table she immediately saw that my daughter was not happy and asked if she should put a new order in. We declined because we wanted our daughter to try it before she made up her mind, and learn from the experience. Mya came back again and could tell that there was no way this kid was going to eat the french toast. She insisted on putting another order in, saying "I just want her to be happy", and it was clear that she truly meant it. Thank you for a wonderful breakfast - we will be back frequently!

I was a little disappointed initially to be seated at the short bar as it makes me feel like I'm in elementary school due to the height, but this was a busy Saturday morning so I understood as it seems there are limited 2-tops, etc and this visit was at peak hours. It was nice to see the daylight coming through the windows which also made this a relaxing venue. While I was sitting there I was able to observe a lot as the short bar is next to the case displaying many delicious treats. I really laughed to myself as I noticed a couple of future Yelper's (one was 2-year toddler and his probably 4-5 year old sister (possibly celebrating a birthday) make a prompt trip to checkout the dessert offerings first! They were obviously "regulars". I was greeted by one of the wait staff, Mya, who was friendly, served me a coffee and indicated my server would be with me soon. I appreciated seeing the teamwork among the staff. I was eventually served by Owen who was helpful and I ordered an egg white frittata which came with a side of mixed fresh fruit. While I was waiting on my food, I had a vantage point where I could see several entrees come out. I also witnessed one of the two Chefs smiling as he was looking at and preparing the orders which I found interesting. The frittata included spinach, tomatoes, goat cheese, apple chicken sausage, and was delicious. I was still a little hungry, so I realized the future Yelpers mentioned earlier had it right, and I ordered a carrot cake cupcake which Owen mentioned was a good choice. The frosting was delicious and the moist carrot cake was tasty as well. The overall restaurant was hustling and bustling on this morning, I had my coffee cup refilled multiple times and even noticed additional children observing the case with the desserts. I enjoyed the overall experience and did not feel rushed at all, but more like a customer!

The dish was generally good though a few bites had an odd almost sour taste that threw me off. I asked whether the orange juice was fresh and I was told it was it's just not squeezed in-house. Supposedly it comes from a place that presses it for them. If they're really paying someone to deliver "fresh" juice they're not getting their money's worth because what I was served tasted exactly like carton OJ. Service was inconsistent some staff were warm while others felt noticeably cold. The restaurant itself is decorated in a very eclectic way with trinkets scattered throughout. I don't think I'll go back and I'm not sure I recommend this place to others.

It's always a busy time for establishments, especially when it comes to holidays, but we repeatedly kept getting seated and "unseated" (the hostess would seat us, but then take us back to common area as the tables were either dirty or not ready). I didn't personally care about this, but I definitely noticed my party getting a bit frustrated by the experience as it happened about 4 times before we officially got seated, which also exceeded our initial reservation time. The service itself was okay. I wish they would've come around a bit more as we were out of water while eating our meal, but I know it was super busy that day!! I ended up getting the soft shell crab sandwich and it was pretty good! I think it would be even tastier with more sauce on the bun, but overall a nice pick. I also tried the lobster bisque; it had a nice texture with the little lobster bits, but found it overly salty. Hush puppies were a nice, crispy texture and I loved the sweet butter with it! One thing I absolutely loved about this experience was the mother's day flower pop-up stand! The cutest way to walk in and support another local business.

Now there are salads on the menu -- complete dinner salads and large side salads. I had a very tasty Michigan cherry salad, with walnuts and blue cheese. Thursday must be "prime rib" night. Everyone else in my party ordered the prime rib, but I got shrimp and black bean cakes. Everything was carefully arranged on my plate. A pretty presentation. The three large shrimp were so fresh they were crunchy-good -- cooked only enough to cause them to turn opaque. The black bean cakes were a little bland, but the creamy red bell pepper sauce with scattered tiny diced veggies that was lightly laced over the top of everything added flavor, even if it was un-spicy. The little tuft of micro-greens was a nice touch, and the two baby carrots and six haricots verts were steamed and shocked to perfection, but I would have preferred a bigger pile of veggies. After that, we all went for a trip to the sundae bar. A big improvement over my prior dining experiences at this place.
