This place looks promising, however, the overall experience is just OK - hence the 3.
They do really good soup. I would give 4 stars for the soup. I usually get a bowl served with a couple of slices of baguette and it is usually really hearty and tasty. On one occasion some of the beans/pulses were not soft enough , but on the whole it really is very good.
I have had one panini (or should that be pannino?), the goat cheese with roasted peppers and sweet chilli - overkill on the sweet chili sauce I felt, but the goat's cheese was tasty - still, pretty average and nothing special.
The cakes look good, but the victoria sponge and the scones I have sampled were a bit meh... as is the coffee, although I have only had an americano.
All in all, this cafe just disappoints a little. The surroundings are clean and bright, the staff are very friendly and everything shows so much promise.. I have not been to many sandwich sit-in places in St Andrews, but I just always leave feeling I had paid a bit too much for my experience. read more
