Petra unlike other chains, actually knows how coffee ought to taste like so if you're in Kanyon and need a quick fix, skip the chain coffee shops, skip the chain cafés like The House Café or Well Done or Kitchenette. Come to Petra, Petra welcomes you my fellow Yelpers, come and enjoy some fine Kenyan beans which burst with floral notes. The only downside of Petra is that it's quite tiny. Their main location is around Gayrettere, which is an incredibly cool looking place but hard to get to. However, this just incoming, I just learned that they're opening a new place around Nisantasi, so great news for those with taste buds!

And one must mention that they're open until midnight, so a full day indeed. It's a very unique looking place, with very tasteful modern decor, and the coffee is infinitely better than the one you'll find at Starbucks. It's not the best coffee I've had in my life, but it's flavorful and tasty. They have a bean selection from Honduras to Colombia, and they can make your coffee a hundred different ways, cold drip, chemex, aero press, you name it, they have the appropriate flask. They also have some cakes and desserts to go with your coffee although I can't speak too highly of them. But I love my little corner. It's design conscious, they got good coffee and an array of magazines for you to read. What more can you ask for?

Like some other coffee joins, it gives you a card so for buying 10 coffees you get one for free. The only drawback is the location. It's not very easy to get to and the there isn't much of a view. The desserts, while seemingly healthy, you know no glutons, no sugar, no fat, basically anything that makes a dessert tasty, resulted in one of the most dense brownies I've ever tried to eat. So as long as you stay away from the desserts, you should be fine.
