Hands down, the food is consistently excellent, and the service is always spot-on. I had the K-Bowl tonight, and it was absolutely delicious. The vegetables were incredibly fresh, and I really appreciate the chilled water they serve. It's also a nice touch that the owners make the rounds to check on guests and ensure everyone is having a great experience. The staff wear the coolest aprons, and the interior is such a pleasant surprise--stylish, welcoming, and full of character. This is quickly becoming one of my go-to spots. read more

Great food and really friendly service. Everything was fresh and delicious, and the atmosphere was nice and relaxed. Really enjoyed this place and will definitely come back! read more

This hurts me the most to write, but the sushi had to be the most flavorless sushi I had ever had. Sorry to the Cafe. I love to keep my business local. The workers are kind people. The cafe looks great. Now I didn't try everything on the menu, but the food that I did get is enough to keep my orders boba only. read more

My friend brought me here for lunch on a Saturday. First impression, the inside does not match the outside. The inside was lovely and clean. The staff? So nice and friendly! I got some sushi and she got the chicken katsu with a banana yogurt smoothie. Everything was delicious! The spicy rolls are not very spicy, just something to keep in mind when ordering. They even have a little bar with all the sauces if you want more. I'll definitely come back and try other items on the menu. read more

Owner wasn't here today. Been like 4 months since we ate here last. I guess the spicy chicken changed...Korean spicy and flavor to it, a little warning there. Seem lazier chicken pieces took 2-3 bites per. There were 2 skins disguised as pieces of chicken. The last version was better in my opinion. Should ask what level of spice for sure... Sushi was good and spring roll could improve but not the worst. read more

This little spot is adorable, has GREAT service, and the food was incredibly good. Probably the best ramen I've had in a very very long time. We will be coming back (2 adults, 2 elementary aged kids) frequently. Editing to add a quote from my 7yo "it's AWESOME. We have to come back - a lot!" read more

Ambiance: cozy, unassuming establishment with tables that remind me of Taiwan. Service: this is where they really shine! Friendly, generous, and attentive. They were welcoming, brought our drinks, filled our waters, checked on us without pressure, and were just very sweet people. Food: ramen was just okay, but I did go on an intense ramen journey thru the best spots in Los Angeles, so this place doesn't really compare to those. If you're looking for a hot bowl of noodle soup, this definitely hits the spot. The sushi and appetizers were very tasty and moderately priced. They also have boba but I was so full I didn't get to try one. Next time! read more

The owner recommended the chicken wings over the popcorn chicken and he was absolutely right. Eat them hot and they might crackle when you bite, and the salty goodness and juiciness will not disappoint. I also bought the passion fruit green tea for DD, my friend got the passion fruit yogurt and loved it. She went back the next day for another one. I have not tried their ramen but quite a few people came in after me and there were a few business people eating lunch when I arrived. Seems like a good, clean, and fun place to try if you're in the neighborhood. read more

Good ramen, nice service, clean, good prices and servings. I ordered the noodles for pick up so I can't speak to staying there or how busy they get. I will order from there again, trying a few other items. Because of where it is located it is easily missed so I hope everyone who eats there can get reviews out so that they can really drum up their business. This is a hard time for restaurants for sure . It is nice to have a Ramen restaurant at this end of Steilacoom Boulevard and in our neighborhood read more

A quaint and cute café that gives immediate cozy and intimate vibes as you walk in. My boyfriend and I stopped by here for dinner while our dogs were getting groomed nearby. As we entered, we were greeted warmly by the cashier near the register which is pretty close to their entrance. We took some time to look over the menu as they offer all sorts of food and drinks from tasty appetizers, savory ramen, delicious dup baps, and all varieties of teas, smoothies, and more. We decided on the takoyaki, spicy tonkatsu ramen, smoked salmon dup bap, watermelon milk tea, and lychee milk tea. Service was very friendly and they did check up on frequently as well as another table. They always did everything with a smile and it seems that this place accommodates both English and Korean speakers! We were able to sit wherever we wanted freely and chose a small corner in their café. I went to use their bathroom which had the cutest décor and very well-maintained. Once I returned, our drinks were delivered then the rest of our food. The milk teas were made to perfection and the cups are super cute too. My boyfriend really enjoyed his smoked salmon dup bap and devoured the whole thing! I liked the spicy tonkatsu ramen but the broth felt very grainy and wasn't spicy enough, but luckily a woman (whom I believe is the owner) also dropped off chili oil to add to my ramen if I wanted it more spicy which I appreciate. Other than the grainy taste of the ramen, there was a generous amount of ramen toppings and the chashu was delightfully charred. We also enjoyed the takoyaki as well, it had nice pieces of octopus. We definitely will be returning to try out their other items for sure! read more

We have since tried many more items on their menu, doing both take-out and dining-in. From just these experiences, dining in is much better as we found anytime we do take out, the quality of our orders aren't as great as if we were dining in. For a suburb sushi place, it's not too shabby. The inside is very quaint and cozy. The service staff are all very friendly. It looks like a family owned business. We come here often because we live in a neighborhood near by. Don't let the name detract you from entering. Apparently, there was a cafe brown at the location before they took over and they just didn't change the name. read more

Stumbled across this hidden gem. Parking is limited in front, additional parking in the back. Very clean and open dining area, extremely nice and customer focused staff. You order at the counter and they being your food out to you. If you are unsure what you want, they offer a menu to look at from your table and then you walk up when you are ready. They bring out water while you wait and very helpful with recommendations/answer questions you may have. Throughout our time, they constantly checked to make sure we were OK, how the food tasted and refilled our water cups. We ordered 2 rolls, quite a few to pick from. They also have photos to look at if you are more visual. Both rolls were tasty, fresh and very nicely presented. The smoked salmon bowl was very flavorful with fresh veggies on the side. So delicious! The chicken karaage was not greasy, well seasoned and came with a delicious dipping sauce. Next visit we will try ramen and boba tea as others around us ordered and all looked delicious! read more

We ordered 2 different ramen but both were very bland, even after putting in the chili oil and soy sauce. The egg was also a normal boiled egg rather than a ramen egg. The shumai was good though. Maybe I'll come back and try the desserts or drinks, but wouldn't recommend the ramen. read more

I think I speak for many when I say I've been eagerly anticipating the opening of Cafe Brown! Jenny who took our order was so nice, and we received our tea and hot food quickly. Many of my favorite yummy Korean street foods are on the menu. My daughter loved her tornado potato, and my husband and I split the fresh mandu (pot stickers.) Fantastic tea, delicious food, and a very relaxing and well appointed ambiance. 10/10 amazing, I know my family will be regulars. read more

My 3rd time here and so disappointed. The chicken katsu with Ramen is very good, but other options are very skimpy- 2 little pieces of shrimp or 2 small pieces of rubbery, flavorless calamari. And prices are outrageous, especially when it isnt a full service restaurant. Won't be going back. read more

4 stars only because i thought it was kind of pricey for the amount of food. We ordered takeout - I got the chicken katsu dup bap and the chicken was great but hardly had any veggies. My wife got the shrimp tempura dup bap and really enjoyed the shrimp. We also tried the veggie croquettes and enjoyed them a lot! The menu is sizeable so I'm looking forward to trying more in the future. read more

Always amazing food and service at Cafe Brown. There isn't a single item that I don't enjoy, but the Super Dragon Roll is delicious! Tonkatsu Ramen is really good. I usually order it without bean sprouts just because I don't like bean sprouts and add an extra pork chashu. The crispy fried chicken is crispy on the outside and so soft on the inside they have to do something special. Food is great, but the service takes them over the top. Staff all around are kind, generous and hard working. During busy hours you can see the hustle as they run to tables to take and serve orders. All done with great smiles! read more

The best ramen place i have been to! I have been on the search in the tacoma/lakewood area for ramen places and just have not had luck. But the flavors are so good here and the food is always fresh and clean, very homey. The noodles are good, i have been comin regularly and it seems they have just continued to better their food. noodle texture was very delicious. Just 10/10 The workers and bosses are very nice and welcoming Overall a great place. Sometimes the prices seem a little high but the portion sizes make up for it completely. Definitely worth the visit read more

This place is a hidden gem! We arrived 20 mins before closing and they allowed us to eat/finish our meals inside. The service was fantastic. The restaurant owner was the sweetest elderly lady ever. My husband and I have traveled to Japan and have tried various ramen dishes before and without a doubt the spicy miso chicken katsu ramen ranks in our top ramen dishes. The chicken katsu was cooked perfectly without it being too dry or chewy. The lighting in the place also gives a nice ambiance. This is a small family business and prices/portions are reasonable. 10/10 highly recommend! read more

We've been customers since it opened. The spicy ramen soup was flat, diluted flavor not the deep rich flavor and really spicy hot. Noodles seemed blah. No servers old enough to serve alcohol. Change in ownership? Management? Not returning any time soon. read more

Cafe Brown is as out of the way as you can get with a non-descript marquee and plain storefront. It's next to a smoke shop on a busy road, and unless you're looking for it, you're likely to miss it. Don't. The inside is comfortable, modern, and minimal. Something about the lighting made me feel like I could be in there all day. They offer a variety of sushi's, ramens, and milk-teas on their menu. I chose to have a deep fried spicy tuna roll, Chicken Katsu Ramen, and gyoza. The deep friend roll right be the best I've ever had. Most places leave the batter on the outside slightly under crisp choosing presentation and color over taste and mouth feel. They got both. It was like they fried it, cut it, and refried it. The gyoza were flavorful and crispy but slightly doughy on the inside and they may have been understaffed. The ramen was flavorful and had plenty of noodles to hold the crispy chicken katsu! The only complaint that I have is that the ramen had far too many bean sprouts. It felt like they were used as a bowl filler and after time got in the way of what was otherwise a great bowl of ramen. This place was pretty good aside from the bean sprouts. I will be returning once more during this vacation. I'm going to give it four stars that would have been 5 should they choose to justify price with higher quality jnstead of portion size. read more

What a great new restaurant in the neighborhood! Cute, cozy, clean decor. The servers are exceptionally kind and caring. The food surpassed my expectations. Everything was delicious. There were 4 of us dining and we all loved it. I don't have anything to recommend for improvements. Food presentation was great too. Just the right amount of each ingredient. You got to check this place out! So thankful to have another option for food on our end of town. Generous portions of food. No complaints at all. read more

Wonderful suprise in our little Lakewood!! Saw the Boba sign & to my suprise, I saw the menu of a variety of food items! I ordered a variety of things, pictured, and was pleased with all of them! However, the wings could be cooked a bit longer & have an additional sweet sauce for dipping. My Shrimp tempura sushi & entree was delicious with very little oil. The decor is tastefully done, including the bathroom! Most of all, the entire establishment is very clean! The employees are very welcoming & customer oriented! Such a rarity these days! Side note, my Taro Boba was average. Perhaps more attention can be made in developing more unique flavors and to make sure it is thoroughly mixed. Overall, highly recommend visiting & trying out!! read more

A friend recommended this spot - it looks so unassuming from the outside (Boba Tea and Ramen featured prominently - and honestly, I don't like either of them). But, the inside is adorable and the food and service are really spectacular. I've been twice now and took two friends the last time, both of whom loved it. Their menu is far beyond tea and ramen with sushi, bop bowls, and many other options (next time I'll take a photo of the menu). The owner is kind and thoughtful. The food is fresh and the servings are large! I'm glad to have a locally owned great restaurant nearby! I tried to upload photos but Yelp protested. They are on Googlemaps. read more
