    Here it is

I'm so very happy. The cafe is in a large, I mean really large, industrial space. Plenty of free street parking. I'm chilling in a comfy chair, with a view of a neighborhood I've previously only passed through on my way to the annual Open Studios. (That's another review, put it on your calendar). I'm guessing the Cafe site used to be a fire station, with its huge open garage door, big enough for a very large truck. 9am on a Wednesday, there's a woman reading a book, no laptop village! Bonus points for that. The patrons seem to be locals, with a lot of construction workers picking up coffee to go. Cafe & Avocado Toast: 5 Stars: * toast that's actually toasted! * You can eat with your hands. * good flavor profile * ingredients don't compete with the avocado. * presentation * cafe ambiance * friendly service I was worried about the seaweed topping, but surprised I really liked it. Adds a salty pop which doesn't interfere with the mild, creamy avocado. I did scrape some of it off though. Bacon was yummy, chewy, took off some of the fat 'cause I'm a picky eater. About that giant garage door essentially making the cafe open air. Dress accordingly. 5 star experience. Destination dining. I'll be back.

Absolutely 10/10 cafe. The ambiance, the food, the drinks, the service; all on point. This is my favorite place to get a quick lunch or tea. My favorite is the BZT, bacon zucchini and tomato. Not only are their offerings delicious but I really appreciate their ethos. They truly support the neighborhood by regularly hosting workshops and events. Last I was there I saw them collabing with shipyard art just down the block. My only wish is that they would stay open later! They close pretty early at 2pm.

The "Wedge Salad" is fantastic, even tho' it's far from traditional.

Cafe Alma's "Wedge Salad" ($12) is good enough to eat two days in a row so I did. Upon visit #2 I brought an acquaintance, who ordered a different salad on the menu, and she concurred: Cafe Alma makes a great salad. We can though, split hairs over whether their Wedge Salad is any sort of Wedge Salad at all. I've always known a Wedge Salad to start with a large wedge of Iceberg Lettuce and here the lettuce is laid out on the plate. And it's Romaine, not Iceberg. And who cares at all? It's that good. Get it. When I suggested Cafe Alma to said acquaintance she asked if they had outdoor seating and I had to pause a moment. "The whole thing is kind of open to the elements" I responded. I can't say what set-up they employ in Winter, but right now the entire front of the place - and it's a very big front - is wide open and most tables sit under a very high roofline and feel outdoors, with plenty of space between each. If someone had introduced me to Cafe Alma (I found it on my own) I'd be impressed by several things. The Bayview-Hunters Point location would first tell me that this person was someone who sought out good finds in locations a bit off the beaten path. Second, with its shelves of curated, artist-produced knick-knacks and eye-catching tilework I'd think that person had a nice eye for design. And finally, I'd know that they have very good taste because this is a restaurant after all, of the fast-casual ilk, and their salads are sheer joy. I am left to assume that the rest of the menu is equally delicious but I know I'll never know. Cafe Alma's Wedge Salad is it for me and I'd be lying were I to say I had any intention of trying anything else on that menu. Good place

This place is great! Wonderful grilled sandwiches and I particularly enjoyed my lemonade. Very refreshing. I think they have a strawberry one as well. I can't wait to go back and try some of their other items such as their bagels or salads. So happy to have this cafe in the neighborhood- much needed and a wonderful place!

I'm very grateful you're still thriving, but sadly, today I felt the very present stress of your crew. The young lady at the counter seemed so upset. I definitely missed her free spirit from a year ago. Hard times create even harder feelings. I get it. I'm trying too. Today, I went to my office to pack up. It's been a highly eventful & very emotional week so it was nice to step away to grab lunch. I visited this spot quite a bit last year. Can't believe it's been a year...The last time was for my work's holiday gathering. So much has happened since then... So many changes & sadly, not for the better. I got ready to say goodbye to my 2nd work home & it just hit me how much uncertainty is still out there. I know it's not easy, believe me. But just know even a smile can make a real difference. Good thing this salad hit the spot. So thank you & hang in there.

Has everything you could want from a cafe. Friendly staff, amazing menu, and a calm atmosphere. (The wifi, outlets, and public bathroom are a plus too!)

I was at work and I told my co-workers I wanted new to eat in the Hunters Point Bayview so thanks to Yelp, I found this place and the panini's looked good and sounded good on the menu, and we headed to Alma Cafe and ordered the BZT Panini, and myself and my other co-worker ordered the Mushroom Panini, and we all had a side arugula salad and it was delicious. It is a new reasonable spot the meal is $11 for a panini and side salad. The ladies who work in there are very nice and the greet you when you walk in. It is a very clean Resturant and the really enjoyed our food we will definitely be going back to try some more yummy things in the menu. Definitely give this place a try if you are in the San Francisco area, you will not be disappointed. Also try their Hibiscus Limeade it was really good.

I just moved to the neighborhood and I love how they have this cute & spacious cafe out of the middle of nowhere! My new spot for sure!! Industrial/boho/artsy vibe, need more of these in the area!

"Inviting" is probably not the right word, maybe just "empty", which meant I probably wouldn't wait long for any food I ordered. I didn't but... I tried the $13 Fresh Garden Sandwich (no longer offered), and it was disappointing. It had mostly to do with the overly chewy sesame hoagie bread that made it difficult to get a successful bite without the ingredients falling on the table. I don't know if the bread is made here or delivered from a bakery, but I'm just not a fan. It had an interesting albeit incompatible bounty of ingredients inside. Roasted eggplant, green tomatoes, arugula, and a pico de gallo with chopped red tomatoes. It came with a small side salad of arugula, walnuts, and shredded carrots, which might've served better as the filling (Photo 7). The $3.25 Iced Tea was refreshing though (Photo 8). It was months later when I tried the cafe again. It was still the same empty space except for one laptopper at the window. This time I went for the $12.85 Avo Smash Toast (Photo 9). Definitely overpriced with just a thin layer of mashed avocado hidden by cucumber slices and arugula, and believe it or not, the rusticana toast was the issue again. The server didn't cut it in half, so I made a mess trying to saw it in two with a plastic knife. It was better than the veggie sandwich, but I'll have to skip the carbs if there's a next time. FOOD - 2.5 stars...not a fan of the chewy bread AMBIANCE - 4 stars...a big community space and mostly empty of customers SERVICE - 3 stars...not rude TOTAL - 3 stars...a laptopper's delight RELATED - Exploring Bayview/Hunters Point? A Neighborhood Anchor in San Francisco's Comeback At the…read moreintersection of Visitacion Valley and Little Hollywood in San Francisco, Aroma Buena Café and Kitchen capture the spirit of neighborhood resilience. A pleasure of San Francisco's "comeback" are the great new businesses opening around town. Aroma Buena Kitchen in Visitacion Valley/Little Hollywood is one of those wonderful new additions to the city, and all the better knowing how it's come to be. The location formerly housed the Piccolo Pete deli, which in its prime was a neighborhood institution. When Candlestick Park was around, and the Schlage Lock factory was down the street, Piccolo Pete did big business with big sandwiches ready for tailgating and hearty lunches. But with the Giants leaving the 'stick, followed by the 49ers, and the lock factory closed, the core business was gone. The deli closed in 2016, and the building sat vacant except for a small coffee business on the corner. But what about that coffee business? A few years ago Aroma Buena opened in the tiny space at the corner of Bayshore and Tunnel Road. Though there was just enough space for a counter and a couple of tables, the place really took off, particularly for breakfast take-out. The menu had the standard breakfast and lunch staples, but many with Latin influences reflecting the woman-owned "Hispano World Cuisine" catering business behind the venture. Food was delicious, service was friendly, and prices were decent. It quickly became a neighborhood spot with a loyal clientele. Fast forward to last year, and Aroma Buena was ready to expand into the rest of the building. This allowed the catering business to move onto the premises and a new counter-service sit-down restaurant to open up. The front of the building, long neglected after the deli closed, was transformed by a colorful mural that stretched the entire length of the façade. The interior was completely rebuilt, fresh and bright. The original café at the corner is now known as "Aroma Buena Café," and the new restaurant is "Aroma Buena Kitchen." The two complement each other, with the café focused on breakfast and lunch, and the kitchen focused on sit-down lunch and weekend brunch. Both offer a relaxed, welcoming spot for breakfast and lunch, with a local, community-focused vibe. The café serves up a range of fresh classics with a Latin-inspired twist. Their menu includes hearty breakfast burritos (like the popular chorizo and bacon-egg varieties), savory sandwiches (such as the chicken margherita and oven-roasted turkey), healthy wraps, and tasty salads. In keeping with its "Hispano World Cuisine" roots, the menu blends flavors from Spain, Latin America, the Caribbean, and beyond. The flavors are subtle but present, suggesting a kitchen that understands flavor as heritage rather than garnish. The setup of both the café and kitchen is laid-back and friendly. In both you order at the counter, and your food is brought out to you by the friendly staff. In a nutshell, Aroma Buena Café and Kitchen is a hidden gem in one of San Francisco's less well-known neighborhoods. Each offers a comfortable place with flavorful breakfast and lunch options grounded in Latin-inspired cuisine. Whether you're stopping by for your morning coffee or settling in for a hearty lunch, it delivers good food with a friendly neighborhood feel. The food is hot and delicious. The portions are fair. The service is unfussy and kind. And with these qualities, Aroma Buena is a neighborhood anchor. And in the daily life of a city, that's the true comeback story. Aroma Buena is located at 2155 Bayshore Boulevard (corner of Tunnel Avenue) in San Francisco.
