One of the best italian restaurants in Dublin. Have been there few times. Food is great. Pasta delicious. Steak is the best with great tasty potatos. Great option for kids. They love it spaghetti, italian pizza... Highly recommended. U cant missed out !!!! read more

Cafe Topolis for lunch with the girls yesterday. I took the early bird menu for 13.50 and was not disappointed. First I had the Pomodori Ripieni; a beef tomato stuffed with Ricotta and Pecorino, with Red and Green pesto drizzle. This was a starter NOT to share! I devoured it. It was so tasty and light. I could have eaten twenty of those but instead had the Pizza Roma which was nice and light and incredibly tasty. With my meal came a glass of delicious red wine. I also had a couple of espresso to keep me awake. It was a wonderful meal and my friends were also very happy with what they had (one of them also had the coveted Pomodori and was not disappointed!). This is now my favourite Italian restaurant in the city centre. I can't wait to go back there again. read more

Restaurant: Cafe Topolis We went for an Early Bird - at the end of the day what can go wrong with a starter of bruschetta with tomatoes, followed by pasta with chicken and broccoli in creamy sauce and a glass of wine. I must say I never had so 'not Italian' looking and tasting bruschetta in my life. It comprised of one gigantic piece of white bread (didn't even resembled Italian) topped with diced tomatoes black olives and capars. It all added to an overwhelmingly sour and pickled like experience. There was a salad on the side, again mainly composed of tomatoes, raw red cabbage some lettuce and ...black olives. It was all covered in excess of a creamy sauce. Personally I think it destroyed the idea of a 'light, warm and flavourful' bruschetta starter we hoped to get. The only thing I can recall is tomatoes everywhere...and don't get me wrong I love tomatoes. As for the main, we asked a member of staff for black pepper and parmesan, but despite a fairly empty restaurant and three waiters wondering around she went on serving a table next to us instead. So we kept waiting and the main course was getting cold. When she finally got to us she haven't even acknowledged the long wait. Pasta was well cooked, far away from 'al dente' but not overcooked. It was in a very rich creamy sauce and frankly after reaching about 1/3 of my dish it became so bland and boring that I could not face even a thought of it. I was not alone- my partner hasn't finished his for the same reason. Just imagine how bad was the experience if we decided to have ice cream at home for the dessert instead of chancing it there. As for wine - as expected the it was mediocre, but I guess after the food and service experience we were not surprised at all. Before we left we asked the waiter from which part of the Italy is the traditional food they serve? he said he doesn't know. It is a shame, we think they invented a region there. We don't recommend and will definitely not come back. read more

Nice, centrally located restaurant with tasty, hearty dishes that are good value. Have always found it friendly and comfortable, reasonably priced and the pizzas are great. Can be a little busy at weekends but you're not on top of one another which is a plus. read more

Decent food and friendly service. Eat up stairs if you can as down stairs is stuffy and a bit dingy. It is not cutting edge stuff here but it is pretty fairly priced, is consistently packed and food is good. read more

Went on valentines day, which of course is extremely busy, however the staff was able to maintain excellent service. The food was lovely, the decorations were nice but the staff were superstars that day. It was my first experience and definitely not the last :) read more

I went here after reading the reviews but I found it was nothing special. The pizza was under the italian standards, too thin and tasteless. I've been a fan of this place for a long time, so much so that I organised a few going away parties and Christmas parties in the ground floor section. When you're organising a Christmas party for the Department of Classics in UCD, you'd better be sure that the quality and authenticity of the Italian food is high enough to pass muster for professional Italophiles. Today I discovered the perfect pizza here. I love tomatoes. I love fresh basil. I love mozzarella. All of these things -fresh- are generously combined along with a few sprinkles of black olive slices in Cafe Topolis's caprese pizza. Thin base, tasty tomato-based sauce, topped with slices of fresh tomatoes, about fifteen or twenty whole fresh basil leaves -yes, I repeat one last time, fresh- and slices of fresh mozzarella which must have used up an entire ball of the cheese. I've had so many disappointing pizzas where the promised basil hasn't even been present in dried form, the cheese has been rubbery and the tomatoes taste-free. This made up for them all. Have been in Dublin for a week now, we were in the mood for some Italian and Yelp led us to this little café. Very quaint, clean dining establishment, we were greeted and seated promptly. I had the spaghetti bolognaise which was very good, just what I was looking for. My buddy had the stuffed chicken with gorgonzola sauce, he was very quiet as he chowed down. Its a wet Sunday evening and you're on your way into town for some end of weekend fun and realise that you should really eat something before a night of full on alcohol. As we were coming into town, traffic was so bad we decided we'd be quicker walking so got out of the taxi. As we were getting wet we decided that we should really eat in the first half decent looking place that we came across. Cafe Topolis was it, and believe me we should have kept on walking. The place was pretty full which is always a good sign. They had a sign up advertising an early bird: 3 courses for €15. I wondered how they could do it so cheap but we were too late for it anyway. We ordered chicken wings between us, I had a Chicken Caesar salad and my date for the evening had pasta with beef. The chicken wings (4 of them!) were extremely greasy and somewhat tasteless, unless you like the taste of grease! The mains arrived with a nice dusting of parsley (I can never understand why some restaurants use parsley as a garnish, its just like flavourless fur) My Caesar salad was about the size of a small side salad with strips of dry chicken, and dollops of dressing. My dates pasta was somewhat flavourless and extremely watery. We did have a lovely bottle of wine and the staff were friendly and prompt, €60 for 2 wasn't too bad, however if it is raining, you've no umbrella, you're extremely hungry and you come across Cafe Topolis, suffer the wetness and keep walking! read more

I went here with a gang of my nearest and dearest. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I had the thin crust margarita pizza, calamari fritta, gamberi with spicy tomato sauce, mouscoco and a little bit of everyone else's! It was definitely food heaven for us all and they have some new customers with recommendations for friends as a result. We flew into Dublin starving, so we decided to take a walk in the pouring rain to catch some grub. We happen to step into Topolis, which is a treasure for anybody's finding. The menu was attractive from the outside and the comforting warmth was definitely a contributing factor for our stay. But it wasn't until the hostess seated us and immediately put in our order with a quick turn around for food that had me in Aww! Definitely order the Garlic bread, best I've ever had. The salad was just as good! I requested the Tortellini and melted in my mouth; the best again. I had a bit of the Steak pasta and that was also good, quite possibly the best! I really wish I would've had the time to go there again and try their pizza, but I'll leave that up to y'all to describe, hopefully the best you've ever had! read more

Wonderful little restaurant. Went about a half hour earlier than the crowds for dinner and we were seating right away. Service was nicely casual, professional and friendly. Never felt rushed. The food was well prepared -- fresh and delicious. Reasonably priced as well. read more

really great restaurant! really well decorated with a wood burning pizza oven in the corner which was nice. your welcomed with friendly staff and mint water which is surprisingly nice ! .. the menu is decent i had the bruschetta to start which was great and a creamy seafood pasta dish which was rich and very tasty. was really happy with the meal and it was modestly priced as well the atmosphere is good its quiet and intimate. id eat here again, id love to try the pizza it smelled and looked amazing id give it a good 5 stars :D read more
