I lived at the Ridge Pinehurst for a year and a half. My review only reflects my experience with…read moreIndependent Living - not Assisted Living nor Memory Care. * Expensive. There are other, more value driven places that are equal or better. I'm living in one now. I am much happier now than when I was at the Ridge. * Paper thin ceilings and walls. In any apartment you hear everyday noises as if they are in the room with you. There is nothing you can do about it. If you try to escape the noise and live on the top floor of the Summit, there is some kind of loud machine noise from above the ceiling. If you spend the night trying out the apartments, make sure someone has an apartment above yours to experience the noise factor. * They are more partial to dogs than cats. * Lack of signage both interior and exterior of the Summit Bldg. The main door to the Summit is in an alley without direction. Signage problems have been discussed with management, but still were not corrected after my 1.5 years living there. The Ridge building entrance is lovely, but I consider the Summit building entrance the "step child". * They have one health and wellness center and one cinema, although the website says there are more than one. * Long waits for maintenance help probably due to so much employee turnover, as in most departments. * There are resident/management meetings. Notes are taken and distributed to residents. Everything goes under "management advisement" with very little change or timely change for the residents. Recently residents asked for a furniture arrangement change in the Summit. Management denied the request stating it couldn't be done, even after residents showed how it could happen. Residents wanted this change so that conversations between them could more easily occur. Why doesn't management want solutions that will aid in the residents comfort, safety and enjoyment of their lives at little to no cost? The Ridge Pinehurst is a for profit making institution and investment. Perhaps they should invest in nonhuman entities that don't require such humane responsiveness from them. * Only recently was 24/7 concierge coverage provided at the Summit building after many complaints. There was no response from management to my letter of complaint about this issue. They require 30 days written notice upon exit, yet my letter of intent was never acknowledged by them, as I requested. * Food: Along with required rent is required payment for food of $450/month/person on a "use it or lose it" basis. If you don't eat the food, you still pay for it. If you eat the food, expect that $450/month won't cover both breakfast and lunch or dinner. Breakfast is about $10, lunch or dinner meals are approximately $16-20. PanoVista meals offered once or twice a month vary $50 plus. The sample website menu is a possible PanoVista menu, NOT an example of the regular menu. Ask to see a monthly menu. If you exceed the $450, you are billed for it. Many pork and chicken meals are served. The food is mediocre to me and many other people. No food is cooked rare, mostly medium or well done. People complain that the expensive PanoVista meals are served cold. Few choices for vegetarians. There is a weekly vegetarian offering, but they have considered pancakes as a choice for a week. In all fairness, they do have "Always Available" menu choices. Again, ask to see a monthly, regular menu as well as their "Always Available" menu. * Lifeloop is the online system for residents to learn of activities and their updates, register for activities, and make maintenance and transportation requests. Residents are able to message other residents and staff. One needs to be fairly proficient in using a smart phone, tablet or computer. They use residents, as myself, to voluntarily tutor other residents on computers, smart phones and lifeloop on a one-to-one basis. There is another computerized system you need to use to order meals and make reservations. Concierges will input information for residents if they are available. Can be overwhelming for those who are not proficient. People who register for activities using lifeloop will be allowed entrance to the activity before those who have not registered on lifeloop. There may not be any room left. * Don't believe everything their website says and don't just believe what they say in their shiny sales pitch. If visiting, use your due diligence and ask the residents what they like and dislike. Ask to see their "unique dining concepts" that they advertise on their website - ask to see the locations, menus and prices, hours and days of operation. * When your rent is raised, ask yourself if you are receiving that percentage of increases in your lifestyle.

Managers dont interact with the residents (like asking how was your dinner tonight!) The dinner service ends at 7 and staff try to force people to leave even if they are still eating. The reservation system is terrible and not conducive to having guests or family visit (and then the hostess is rude if you try to beg for a table!) The facility is nice to look at but there are so many improvements that could be made (and dont get me started on the "sports bar"!)

Libby Bortz Assisted Living Center - This was my mom's room

My only reason for…read morenot the five stars is the food that they served my mom when I transported her from New Orleans. In my family, dumping a family member in a nursing home is a sin!! But the Libby Bortz Center is very good in their care. I felt guilty during at that time, but I just sold my home in Five Points and moved south to Littleton so my mom would more be more safe and I know friends that can take care of her while I'm at work. But the center is excellent in its care and also designed for people with low to moderate incomes and your timing has to spot on to get a temporary room. You will see an older TV in the room on my photo - it did have a remote control with it.

He says this is his home now and he will never leave until the end. This is a beautiful clean facility that does not smell like many other senior homes. A month after moving into his room he had to have Open Heart Surgery. His motivation was the loved he had already received in his "new family at Libby Bortz". The love and amazing care given made him recover faster to get home. The staff sent him cards and called to see how he was doing. I could have never imagined a place to take such good care of my dad. Every Friday they come in and clean his room and take his laundry to be cleaned. They strip the bed and put clean sheets on the bed. When I say they clean, they really clean thoroughly. The pictures, blinds everything is spotless. Then the clothes are returned and folded very nicely. In the dining room they are given assigned seating which my dad loves as it feels like a family. The food is always delicious and the wait staff treats him very special. They make sure all are accounted for at meals which means a lot to our family. He is given a snack at bedtime so it is just more love given to check that he is doing fine. They have activities daily which he likes to attend including exercise class. They do it all from haircuts to a foot clinic and a in home doctors group comes in every few weeks. Libby Bortz is a shining example of what senior care should look like. Infact, they should be the model for our country. It shows how good management and a good price point can bring together people to love our seniors as they age. Aging with dignity and love is this wonderful facility.

Leaving this review in the hope it helps a future resident and their family from being left with…read morethe heartache we've endured the past three weeks. My 91-y/o Dad was placed in RMAL at the Quincy/Wadsworth location on October 10th. Long-time Alzheimer's patient who had recently been subject to too many falls to safely be kept at home any more. RMAL came to us highly recommended for his well-being and care. We in no way blame them for his quick passing, but instead the heartless lack of respect he received AFTER his death, and their callous lack of compassion for us, his family. Dad passed early in the morning of October 13th. He was left to lay on the floor, completely bare save for a diaper, and uncovered for at least an hour after he was attended to by paramedics. ON THE FLOOR - UNCOVERED!! WE WERE NEVER NOTIFIED OF HIS PASSING, and my brother found him on a video camera inside the room. Upon his calling the home himself, he was told, "Sorry, he's gone". Upon arrival at the facility within 40 min., he found Dad on the floor, in aforementioned condition, and covered him himself with his comforter. NO CALLS to my Mom or either of us children listed as emergency contacts. NOT ONE. And my Dad ON THE FLOOR, LEFT BARE AND UNCOVERED, FOR AN HOUR. Three days later, upon our arrival to remove belongings, we walked in to all his sheets laying crumpled in the middle of the bed, filled with his BODILY FLUIDS. NOT BAGGED - JUST LAYING ON THE MIDDLE OF THE BED (he had obviously been placed back on the bed after my brother left, at some point before the mortuary arrived - no coroner arrived to pronounce him, either). STILL no calls from anyone at the facility, THREE DAYS AFTER THE FACT. They chose to correspond only via text message. UNBAGGED, BIO-HAZARDOUS WASTE MATERIALS left in a room of a nursing home filled with other patients, for THREE DAYS! We were charged with removing the soiled sheets ourselves. Horrific treatment of my beloved Dad and the family who cared for him. They blamed the paramedics for zero phone calls. RMAL collected their fees and THEY were responsible for calling to let us know. They were also charged with caring for my Dad when we couldn't be there (we had been at the facility with him for 8 hours each of the three days he was there). NO COMPASSION OR DIGNITY WAS SHOWN TO THIS SWEET MAN! If I can save ONE person from this heartbreak in the future, it will be my life's goal from here on out!

Their care staff is highly attentive to their residents, their care is patient centered and they are very communicative to families and outside healthcare professionals who deliver care to their residents. The communities are welcoming, soothing, well-maintained and are perfect for seniors who want staff who are dedicated to their individual needs. I would trust them for the care of my own elderly parents when the time comes for them when they need a higher level of care. They are the best in the Denver metro area and would highly recommend any senior needing a place to call home.
