However, this would take about a week to get the replacement water heater in stock and installed. I would have preferred the second option, but given the immediate need for hot water for my Airbnb guests, I opted for the $500 heating element repair. Tony assured me that this would solve the issue and provide hot water that day. Here's where the one-star review comes in... Tony called me later that day to let me know the repair had failed and didn't solve the problem. He said I would still need to replace the hot water heater. He offered to discount the work he had done that day by 50%, effectively increasing the total cost of the hot water heater replacement to ~$1,550. Taken aback, I asked if I really had to pay for the work done that day, even though it didn't fix the problem. Tony explained that despite the unsuccessful outcome, he had spent many hours working on it and needed to be paid for his time. Ultimately, I contacted my property manager's plumbing recommendation. That plumber was able to replace the tankless hot water heater the very next day for $900. Additionally, they installed a shutoff valve, isolating the water heater from the main water line for easier maintenance in the future.
