We sought this place out for the cheese wheel experience, which did not disappoint! The service was great and very accommodating to some of our special requests. I'm not sure I would order the broccoli rabe again, but the cheese wheel pasta and lasagna was delicious! Cute little spot with a lot of activity on Friday night.

Lovely and charming restaurant with a romantic garden featuring delicious fresh pasta, fish and salads! Our favorite dishes were the cacio e pepe for its creamy cheesiness and zesty flavor, the pillowy soft gnocchi, and the branzino which was cooked to perfection. The house made bread was fresh and severed with a tomato dipping sauce. Beet salad with gorgonzola was a nice accompaniment. My sons loved the meatball appetizer and the pasta amatriciana, recommended by the kindest chef , Salvatore! The tiramisu and the creme brûlée - !!Yum. They are perfect in my book, so save room, and have with a macchiato.

food: decent food. the pasta was a little too al dente, but that's fine. nothing really stood out. the complimentary bread was cold and hard... service: they accommodated us even thought we came in at 10:15pm (45 min before close). we ordered quickly because the kitchen was closing. ambiance: super cozy and cute

Came for their espresso martini happy hour promo. After leaving from a nearby off-Broadway show. Service was fast. Waitress was friendly.

Exceptional time, exceptional service and exceptional food. My Dad had his college 50th reunion for Cooper Union . Could have not had a better experience. Service was impeccable , accommodating to all needs and a memorable experience for all. Will return ! Ambiance, warm and inviting , no pretense !

If I could give this location, more stars I will the food is incredible! Aside from that, the service was incredible. The chef was so nice to me and my family. They brought us out a special treat, not to mention the drinks were delicious!! I am definitely coming back to this location when I land in New York City, it felt like home!! The location was also very pretty and clean!

We made a reservation and was seated immediately upon arrival. The establishment is small and cozy. We dined for restaurant week and they offered 1 app, 1 pasta, and 1 dessert for $45. I was very happy with the portions, service, and taste! Burrata - loved the creaminess of the burrata with the prosciutto Meatballs - I thought were pretty standard in taste, pretty sizable portions! Cacio e pepe - get ready for your pasta to be swirled it in a cheese wheel! The pasta itself was creamy. Carbonara -I enjoyed the uniqueness of the jumbo rigatoni, the Paccheri had a lovely savory bite to the pasta Cheesecake - this was my favorite because the blueberry compote was to die for!! The cheesecake was pillowy and light. Tiramisu - not too sweet, tasty, and perfect size Cannoli - wonderful outer crunch of the cannoli and forward taste of the pistachio Highly recommend!!

Easy to make reservation online. They offer Cacio e Pepe served tableside swirled in cheese wheel. Large portions and yummy. Whether it's one person getting it or entire table they still swirl tableside....even if seated at tiniest table. Prices were good too. Yummy chianti as well.

My bestie and I came here for dinner a few weeks ago and had a fabulous meal! We had a reservation and were seated right by the window. It was a pretty quiet Sunday night. The service was attentive and we got our food at the perfect time! We shared the ricotta app to start. The artichoke puree added a great addition to the dish. It was the perfect size to share and wasn't too filling. For entrees, we obviously both had to get the cacio e pepe! They prepare the sauce tableside and serve it out of a huge wheel of cheese. The presentation was so fun and the flavor was FABULOUS! I loved how al dente the pasta was and the peppercorns added a great kick. The cocktails were good and they had a nice selection of wines by the glass. I would totally come back here! I think I will have to get the cacio e pepe every time though... it's that good!

Amazing food and service. The ambiance is very cozy, although the restaurant is pretty small. My friend got the lemon fettuccine, and I got the Alfredo fettuccine. The lemon sauce was a perfect ratio between that lemon flavor and also getting the creamy cheese flavor, and my Alfredo was not too heavy. The portions were honestly huge! We also got the fried calamari which was really good + Pinot Grigio.

I came here for dinner on a Saturday night with a group of girlfriends. We were all particularly excited to try the pasta wheel pasta - it looked delicious... and it was good for like 2 bites but it was SOOO cheesy I couldn't eat more than 2 bites. I HIGHLY recommend sharing this dish and not making it your entire entree. For apps we had the caesar salad which I love that it comes with bacon on top (you can ask to remove it) and the buratta which was great. I loved the plant dessert - you'll know what I'm talking about when you see it - the cream inside of it was very light and fluffy and was a great way to end the evening.

Solid Cacio E Pepe (I hope so, given that's the restaurant's name!). The octopus was incredible, grilled to perfection. It was very crispy on the outside but still really tender on the inside. The suckling pig was ok, not memorable. I don't even think we finished the dish. The Cacio e Pepe was done well. The pasta had a nice al dente texture. The Parmesan cheese was creamy and slightly salty and the black pepper added a nice balance to the richness. The star is supposedly the cheese wheel show, but I was thoroughly disappointed. All they do in front of you is finish mixing the pasta and plate (and they don't even plate it fancy). I wish they put on an actual show, using a torch to heat up the cheese wheel, mixing the pasta in the bubbling cheese, etc.

After a nice stop and a secret garden in west Greenwich, I decided to use the points I had racked up and suggested a beverage at the Spaniard. It was agreed upon, in part as i suggested "they probably have a nice bathroom". Of which they did. It helped they had a nice house drink menu too. My gal found something she would like, and she did. After a fun drink off their menu I got a scotch. Old Putney 12 year. Actually the bartender came up and said they were out, would I want a 18 year or 20 year, something like that. it was a bit more money but it was he last beverage of the weekend trip so I got it. My Lourd it was good. If we had time I would have gotten an Oban they had, but we were off. But we will be back, maybe this year. And if I have racked up enough points in the area, I will suggest this excellent whisky bar.

Walking through the cold streets, I stumbled upon The Spaniard which has quickly become one of my favorite NY destinations! We were there for a quick 30 hour trip to experience the "Holiday Magic". After a long day of travel, we just needed something good. We arrived and they accommodated us in a back booth tucked behind the bar, perfect! Our waiter was a delight and very responsive. The martini was kick-ass and our waiter was kind enough to offer us many recommendations. We landed on Charbroiled Oysters, Steak Tartare, and French Onion Dip. Someone slap me, I'm drooling while I write this review over a year later. Seriously, phenomenal. Every bite was amazing! We cleared the table and manged a few cocktails during our time with The Spaniard. If you are ever in the West Village, stop by, you won't be sorry! Thanks me later, actually!

As for food, there were some true hits but most of the food was good but basic. The highlights for me were the wild mushrooms & rice cakes as well as the Caesar salad - loved the use of nori in the salad and would definitely come back for the mushrooms. The chicken cutlet and chicken dumplings were fine but I probably wouldn't order them again. The wait staff weren't super attentive nor super warm, but they were efficient when we asked for water refills, etc. There was ample standing room at the bar while we waited for our friends, but the table/booth that we sat at was super narrow, I was knocking knees with my friend all night and generally felt squished.

Not surprising, then, that it was pretty packed by the time we finished dinner, at 10:30ish. Serptentine has a solid cocktail list, one that definitely reflects the West Village sensibility. The drinks are all clear variations of classics (ie., martini, negroni, espresso martini, margarita, old fashioned, etc.) but with some added intrigue. All well-executed and made efficiently, which is very impressive during weekend primetime. If you're not nearby I wouldn't make a trip to the area just for Serpentine, but it's a fantastic option if you live/work in the neighborhood and/or are getting a meal in the area and are looking for a bar to start or end at. As I mentioned, it was relatively busy when we arrived here. There weren't any open seats initially but the host said we could hang around the bar for a bit, as he expected a table to open soon. It was probably 10 minutes before we were sat which is basically like being sat immediately in New York time. And generally, the staff here were great -- very personable and accommodating, quick service, only praise in that area. The vibes here are cozy but lively, giving more of a friend hangout than a date (it's also relatively loud so not ideal for conversation if you're sitting across from someone at a table, versus standing and mingling or sitting on bar stools). If you're a dirty martini person you are in luck here, because the Serpentini (grey goose vodka, dry vermouth, olive brine, pepperocini liqueur) is unlike any other. And I get dirty martinis pretty much everywhere I go, so that's saying something. Why is it so unique, you may ask? Well, the pepperocini liqueur is a nice touch and props to whoever decided it was necessary to make such a thing. But the real game changer is the sidecar. You may be thinking -- how is a sidecar unique? Well, it's not just any sidecar...it is not filled with more martini but simply PURE FILTHY BRINE. I mean, if you're ordering a dirty martini, you probably would take a bath in olive brine, brush your teeth with olive brine -- hell, maybe even your contact solution is just olive brine. Want to make your martini dirtier as you drink it? Serpentine has you covered. It is so simple and obvious yet I've never experienced it before. And, because I've never met someone who loves dirty martinis who doesn't also drool over blue cheese-stuff olives, the Serpentini's got that too. Though less exciting and groundbreaking, Mezcal Negroni (ilegal mezcal, campari, averna amaro, lo-fi gentian amaro) is also solid. I love a mezcal negroni and this one is relatively straightforward, just a subtle variation with a few different amaros to add some complexity and herbal notes. A fun and versatile neighborhood spot. It's in prime location so I imagine to rent is absurd, so fingers crossed that it sticks around!
