From the outside, this shop actually looks like a discount shoe store but when you enter, you'll begin to understand why it's called Famous Footwear - that's for a very good reason. Amongst their shelves, they stock some classic brand names like Hush Puppies and Ravel; these are typically those you can trust for quality and durability. Prices do vary from the cheap to the high-end so expect a balanced selection of shoes to suit all ages and styles. You have two floors of decent footwear, so no excuses!

I think there's a major reason for this. It's kind of the same reason the Carmarthen one in Wales is so good. Because these branches are situated in small towns, not all the good clothes go in five minutes. One aspect of the Southport branch I hugely liked was its shoe department and the gifts too. There was literally a ton of choice and I was in need of some new Bear Paw boots (like Uggs, but way cooler) and was simply spoilt with pairs of different boot lengths, colours, made of wool or suede; it was rather marvellous. And since I was buying Christmas presents at the time, the gift boxes, full of designer soapies and scented fancies and even toasty slipper socks alongside sleeping masks and fleecy pyjamas, well, let's just say all the females in my life were treated and then some, particularly with the range of delicious chocolates, fudges, toffees and candies on offer. This branch has a particularly good homeware department too, with everything from scented candles to magazine racks, tasteful wall hangings and gargantuan floor lamps... and this is only scratching the surface. Years ago I found a bright purple Afghan hippy coat here and wore it to death throughout my college years... it was something of a trademark, let me tell you. I might not get away with such frivolous clothing items at the age of 26, but for any budding fashionistas out there I'd highly recommend this TK Maxx.
