I really enjoyed my stay here. The area is very beautiful and low-key. The staff were super friendly and helpful, offering tips about the area. The atmosphere is relaxing, and the place is clean. If you plan to cook your meals, be sure to bring food before arriving in town, as the general store nearby only has some basic groceries. I would definitely stay here again. read more

We backtracked into Cheticamp for booze and some sausages to throw on their new gas grill, had a beautiful dinner at the table in the yard under a slowly setting sun. Clean, economical, relaxed and a 15 minute walk to a windy sunset at Pleasant Bay. Additionally, Dawn was super kind and at the ready with area info. read more

Clean, comfortable, budget accomodation for the adventure traveller. Private, family and dorm rooms available. Two Kitchens available for guests as well as a BBQ available on one of our two decks. Free Wi-Fi throughout the building. Free Internet Access. Bikes available for hire. Walking distance to beach, whale tour operators, restaurants, gift shops and General Store. Ideally located for exploring the Cape Breton Highlands National Park.

Established in 1997.

I have owned the Cabot Trail Hostel since 2008. The Hostel is listed with Backpackers of Canada and In 2011 we became affiliated with Hostelling International.

Meet the Manager: Dawn S.

Dawn took over the responsibility of Hostel manager in 2011. She has many years of experience in the tourist industry. After working as a captain and tour guide on a whale tour boat for 10 years, she decided it was time to stay on dry land. As a hiker and outdoor enthusiast, she is very knowledgeable of the area and is willing to offer advice on activites in the area.

Uniquely converted from a church…read more Great backpacker traveler hostel at the far reaches of Canada. It's run by a former BC family that takes great care of the place. Very clean and modern facilities with fast wi-fi internet. Dorm room is the most lively as expected but they also have private rooms including one in the church steeple!
