I have been a frequent eater of the O.G. Cabo Bob's on Ben White and am so happy they finally opened one within walking distance to my apartment. I've only been here once since it opened and will definitely be back at least once a week. Having recently gone "gluten-free", I ordered a bowl filled with chicken, brown rice, black beans, pico (regular and mango), lettuce, grilled onions and peppers and the mild sauce. I ate the bowl for dinner that night and the next since they stuffed that container full, which is definitely not a bad thing. Great for a quick and affordable lunch! Always busy with college kids; expect a long line reaching the entrance. It's a bit of a walk from the UT campus, but very worth it. The concept is like Chipotle and Freebirds, but Cabo Bob's is the best. There are so many choices and the ingredients are very fresh. Never disappointed when I come! I I come here regularly (3+ times a week) and I can confidently say that they make the BEST burritos. Your journey starts with four different options for the kind of tortilla you want (you can also ask them to combine them to make your burrito unique!). From here, you get your choice of rice, beans, protein, and veggies. Their fried fish is my favorite- you must try it. Next, you can choose from a standard selection of toppings including sour cream, lettuce, and salsa. Last, choose your dressings- I recommend chipotle cream, lime juice, and 66 sauce. Bad timing at 8:30 on a Monday night, line out the door. The kitchen tried to work quickly but it took a long time. Finally got orders in, sat down and munched. Food was good, tasty fish tacos and chicken burritos. This issues was my daughter got back to the dorm and was immediately sick. Not a great start for move in day. Also, I was a little concerned as we were waiting in line. We had someone be come in off the street, get a water cup and then proceed to hit every different drink at the fountain. Food [5/5] - I'm not going to lie to you - Cabo is hands down the best burrito chain I have ever head. The variety is several orders of magnitude better than Chipotle or Qdoba with expansive options for tortillas, meats, toppings, and sauces. I live down the street from Cabo and eat here at least once a week, usually more. Service [4/5] - The staff is nice and usually game for a conversation. The line could move a little more quickly, though they can't help when they regularly get swamped around dinner time. You absolutely have to come here if you're really hungry. Like you've probably heard, this place is basically the same concept as Chipotle, where you choose the ingredients that go into your bowl/burrito. Unlike Chipotle, which gives you more food if you get the bowl, Cabo Bob's actually gives you more if you get the burrito. In other words, get the burrito if you're choosing between that or a bowl. Everyone says the ingredients here taste fresher than Chipotle's and it really did feel like they were. Sup, Mark the reviewer here. This place is the GOAT burrito place. I'm reviewing the location by UT Austin. For $8, there's no other place that'll give you a burrito this size. There are a lot of options for the burrito but I'll come clean and say I never get anything besides fish in my burrito. The fish is fried and they give a serviceable amount. All of the additional toppings you can add inside include rice, beans, cheese, and a variety of vegetables. I partially like the mango pico. They add sauces at the end but tbh it's kinda hard for me to taste the sauces with the mountain of food I get inside my burrito. But my go to sauces are chipotle creama and lime juice which is a nice combination of sour and savory. Anyway, the size of these burritos are huge and fill me up to the brim even though I can eat hella food. In my opinion, the best part about the burrito is the tortilla. Cabo makes the tortilla in front of you and you can mix and match from 4 different flavors. The tortilla is thick and could fill you up alone. It's very sturdy and has good flavor in it. Cabo Bob's is one of my favorite places to eat in Austin! For those that do not know what Cabo Bob's is, think of it as a local style Chipotle except with more options to customize your order. For example, there are 4 different tortilla options - buttermilk flour, ancho chili, cilantro tomatillo, and smokey cheddar - which you can also combine any of these different options together if you can't decide between 2. I always get the burrito and typically, change it up a little each time I go and would recommend you do the same and try out different things each time you come in! Some things that I've tried and loved - the smokey cheddar tortilla, ancho chili tortilla, cilantro tortilla, chicken, brisket, chipotle crema, and their 66 red sauce. They also have a few TVs set up (typically playing a sports game), which I really appreciate. There is usually a pretty long line around lunch and dinner time but would say not to be intimidated because the line moves pretty quickly! My first meal in Texas was an absolute treat! We were looking for a last-minute place to grab a bite to eat and were lucky to find Cabo Bob's Burritos was open. I saw there were great Yelp reviews so we decided to give it a try, plus I can always go for a delicious burrito. There was a long line, which was not surprising given the fact Austin is a college town and it was a Thursday night. It gave us all enough time to figure out what we wanted. I was able to choose between one of their menu items or I could have made my own burrito - the choices were endless. Even the tacos looked amazing - I COULD NOT DECIDE! Before I go any further, I could tell there was great morale among the workers. Even though they were working non-stop, they had smiles on their faces and honestly seemed that they enjoyed what they were doing. I also liked how they guy who was first in the "assembly line" was REALLY enjoying making those fresh tortillas (yup, they make them fresh to order!). :D I ended up choosing the Chicken Burrito with a cilantro tortilla. It was the perfect size, served hot, and it was absolutely DELICIOUS. This was an authentic Tex-Mex experience that you cannot get outside of Texas. Looove their burritos so much! Think of this place as better freebirds/chipotle but with more options of toppings to put in your food and freshly pressed tortillas for your burrito! They have about four types of tortilla to choose from (ancho Chile, cilantro, buttermilk, cheese, etc. ) and three types of beans (Baja, black, pinto), lots of meat option to choose from (even fish!!, can't find that at other places). Unlike freebirds, their flavored tortillas actually taste like what they are made out of. I remember going to cabo bob's for the first time when I was a wee little freshman at UT. Back then, I ordered some tacos which were pretty good, but nothing mind blowing. Three years later, I'm now a senior at UT and I can say without a doubt that cabo bob's is one of the best places in Austin to eat. You HAVE to get a burrito, after all it's in the name of the freaking restaurant! The most unique part about this place compared to any other burrito place is that they have different flavored tortillas that you can get. Personally, the ancho Chile is my favorite but you can't go wrong with any of them. The best meat to get here is definitely the fish, it's head and shoulders above the rest of the competition. However, their chicken and steak are also really good if you're not a fish type of person. The sauces are also what makes Cabo's special. Their 66 red spicy sauce is super tasty, and if it's not spicy enough for you there's even an extra hot version. The only gripe I have about this place is that the wait times can be really long during lunch and dinner hours, but that's just proof that this place is that good. This University burrito shop is a true hidden gem, though I can't figure out why. So few of the people with whom I've talked food have heard of Bob's, but with freshly made tortillas for your burrito right in front of your eyes, it's a must visit on any #ATXFoodie tour. Cabo Bob's has the same concept as Chipotle. You get in line and decide which ingredients to put in your bowl or burrito. Ingredients are fresh, meat are juicy, and there is a wide range of varieties for the sauce and the tortilla flavor. There are four types of tortilla flavors you can choose from: buttermilk flour, ancho chili, smokey cheddar, and cilantro tomatillo. My favorite one is the cilantro tomatillo. If you're looking for the biggest portion size, get the burrito instead of the bowl. But that does not mean the bowl has a small portion size. I usually get a bowl with a side of tortillas, and I get full after eating half of what the bowl has. There are plenty of tables offered both inside and outside. The restaurant also has couple of large tables that can fit in about six people for each table. Gosh - I am so glad that I found out about Cabo Bob's. I wanted to love this place. Everyone was like, yes, Cabo Bob's is the BEST! I felt like (as the stars say) A-OK. The first time I had it I went in with the bf. I got the green tortilla, which made my burrito taste a little weird. Don't get me wrong, I love veggies, but it just had sort of an odd taste to it. The food inside was fine, but, eh, overall. I gave them one other chance when I was planning an event and a friend said they were fantastic. So we ordered catering - we got chicken, steak and veggies. They were a good size, pretty filling, but I ate the chicken and it was literally chicken, rice, and maybe something else (beans?). I can't remember now, it was a while ago. But I wanted more - where was the tomatoes? Lettuce? etc. Everyone seemed friendly, and maybe you'll like it better. But I think I'll stick to Taco Deli or Chipotle, at least for now. read more

Yum. Cabo beats them all. It doesn't get much fresher than this. THEY MAKE YOUR TORTILLA RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOUR FACE. So just imagine how far that speaks into how fresh their other ingredients are. With several options of meat, and of course the fish, options never get old. I'm pretty sure most people come here for the burrito/bowl, and more than often order the fish. You have to try it. I usually order the bowl with tortilla on the side. I'll switch up the meats and get almost all the free options. Mango pico is amazing. As you can see in the picture, they don't play with their portions. They're huge! They had to double foil my burrito! I prefer the ancho chili tortilla to make a huge burrito. This time I didn't get my typical fried fish, I felt adventurous and went for their pulled pork. I'm glad I did because I think it's my new favorite now! These are some big ass burritos! I didn't choose much filling to go in my burrito but the burrito still ended up being humongous. The guy in front of me got almost every filling and his burrito was on the verge of rupturing but what I love about this place is that they press their tortillas right in front of your eyes and cook it on a heating plate so you can see the tortilla bubble and brown up. For the filling, I recommend you definitely get the mango salsa and chipotle sauce because they add a nice and fresh spicy kick to the burrito. This place is the same concept as chipotle and free birds but they have a nice selection of burrito fillings including zucchini! This spot has adjusted nicely to Covid-19. It has lots of outdoor seating and a quick, safe ordering process. I really enjoyed my lunch eating on their shaded outdoor patio. I deducted a star from Cabo Bobs because its food didn't have enough spice and flavor. The recipes here accommodate too many palates and are too safe. Always a good place to go to when in Austin! When my group of friends and I arrived, there was a line that snaked around just to order. Granted, it was a Friday night and it took about 20-25 minutes to get through the line, but it was definitely worth the wait. I recommend if you do want to get food from here during rush hour, order online so you can pick it up. The food was made quickly and looked fresh. They were very efficient and made the process seem effortless despite how busy they were. I got the Crispy Fish Burrito with a buttermilk flour and cilantro tomatillo tortilla.I also added my own toppings inside of it. The food was hot and ready to eat and I honestly don't think I've ever had a better burrito than Cabo. There was plenty of seating here, however, the only complaint I have is that the tables and chairs were slightly dirty after customers would leave.
