Interesting store if you are into hunting and the out doors. I went in to look at Dansk shoes as they were recommend to me to wear to support some hip issues I was having. They had two styles boring and plain. They are probably basic and good selling styles but note to self if you are looking for style then go somewhere else. Now, I am learning to shoot hand guns and on another trip I went in to look at hand guns and the guy was amazing and helpful. He listened to my needs and preferences and made a few recommendations which made sense for me. They have an expert sales team that makes it easy to make a decision. The store in general is overwhelming and I can see how anyone interested in the outdoors would be mesmerized walking through Cabela's. If you have the time you could spend hours in here. read more

Went today ready to buy a $189 pocket knife that was kept in a glass counter and couldn't get anyone help, although there were 2 young men behind the counter looking at their cell phones and giggling. I made eye contact with one of them several times but that didn't seem to matter, their cell phones were more important. I stood in place looking at other knives to pass the time and finally got tired of being snubbed. I've shopped at Cabela's for over a decade and have never minded paying their premium prices in return for good customer service. Buyer beware!!! They advertise a Lifetime guarantee on all of their name brand products. They only cover it for as long as they make that EXACT product maybe a year or two. We tried to return a jacket that is falling apart. They still carry the exact same jacket, but changed the color and the sku number. We are out $109 for a crappy jacket with the Cabela name on it. They offered us a $19 gift card if we returned the $109 jacket. We have spent thousands of dollars in their store over the years. They would have been money ahead if they just honored their promise. When we were standing at the counter arguing with the manager a sign was prominently placed advertising their lifetime warranty. What a lie! read more

First time at Cabela's and it was a great way to get out of the house. Saturday's from what the hubby says is usually pretty busy, but the weather was not the best. However still a crowd of people; you could tell that we all had that "over it" feeling and needed to drive. I had no clue that Cabela's had hidden gems around their facility. I especially enjoyed the Taxidermy displays throughout and the pond in the middle. Hubby purchased a lot; from hunting equipment, fishing gear, a hot pink mug (wife pick) rain boots, cooler, and some other stuff that men need on a rainy Saturday afternoon. I think Cabela's would be proud! This was definitely a day for him and not so much for me and my mini-me (lol). Oh gosh almost forgot... Super friendly staff, soon as I walked in they had someone asking if you wanted to sign up for a card to save on your purchase, if you decline they don't try to guilt trip you into doing it or say that awful line "but you can save at least blah blah blah percent". I was happy about that, not all consumers are shopping needing or wanting to sign up for a card to save one time. Thank You Cabela's I'm sure we'll be back! read more

Used to be a great place. After the Bass Pro take-over, it's gone down hill alarmingly quickly. They offer a military discount but won't give it. The prices are high and climbing, the service lack-luster, the stock is out more often nowadays, trigger locks on all guns and they won't take them off...not even to evaluate trigger pull or test how it fits in a holster. And it's a shame. I spent sooo much money with them but now, I'll be spending it elsewhere. I hope they pull their heads out. read more

Wouldn't sell me the 9mm I drove an hour for even though I own a pistol caliber carbine (even though I showed a picture to prove I owned it). That being said its a legal exemption since it isn't considered handgun ammunition since I'm putting it through a rifle, but wouldn't sell to me even though they sold me some the week prior. Don't even bother going. Store panders to the keyboard warrior crowd wanting to buy guns that there is no ammo available for because of the stores ineffective limits on ammo purchases. You can't buy a scope or any sporting goods equipment kept behind the gun counter without waiting behind 8-10 first time gun buyers panicked over some facebook post. I hope the hunters and fishermen remember this treatment after November 4 and shop elsewhere. read more

We came to Cabela's to replace my wife's gun that was stolen, and while we were waiting in line at the Gun counter one of the employees noticed my wife getting red, looking like she was going to faint (she's 7 months pregnant). In the middle of his conversation with another customer he stopped and asked if she was okay, then grabbed a chair from behind the desk for her to sit down until we were called up, and then handled our purchase very well and kindly. I cannot thank the gentleman enough for his attentiveness and kindness. They are awesome! Definitely coming back because of the deals and customer support they provide. Great job read more

Recently I have ordered items on sale only to have the order cancelled. This has happened at least 3 times on different items. When I placed the order it showed as in stock each time. After the order is cancelled the website showed out of stock. Very frustrating as it feels like deceptive marketing. Further, I recently ordered a fishing reel and when it arrived it was not a new reel. It had multiple scratches. It must have been a returned item or a display model. Definitely not what you would want for $300. I called customer service and they said a refund would take 4-6 weeks to process once they received the reel back which is wildly inconvenient. None of the Bass Pro or Cabelas stores locally had one in stock for an exchange so I returned the scratched reel to a store to avoid the refund delay. I have been a loyal Cabelas shopper for years and cannot recall a bad experience until the multiple instances recently. I really hope this is not the level of service to be expected moving forward. read more

I went to Cabelas to purchase a firearm due to their large stock of options. Picked out my choice, filled out the background check paperwork, PAID FOR THE FIREARM, went to have the firearm transferred and was told that the background came back as "delayed" and that the system "has been doing this lately due to the high volume of purchases around the country" and that most likely it will clear the next day. Someone will call me to let me know. Fast forward to 9 DAYS LATER. I go back to Cabelas assuming they will have an answer as to why this is taking so long. They tell me that I'm still listed as "delayed" and just wait for someone to call. I have never waited that long for a check and have never known anyone to wait that long for a background to clear. I asked the associate (didn't get her name) a series of questions with the only response being, "I don't know" every time. Especially since I already paid for the firearm 100% in full! For a place that has been selling firearms for this long to just keep saying "I don't know," especially to questions about company policy, is ridiculous. I tried to call corporate (no response) and emailed them asking about policy and protocol but, it's Sunday so hopefully tomorrow I get an answer. If not, I'm asking for my money back. Other places transfer the device if the background takes more than 3 days to clear. I rated 2 stars due to the initial salesperson (forgot his name) who helped me out greatly and recommended exactly what I was looking for. read more

Love to bring the kids here, they can feed fish to go to the shooting arcade. We're a hunting family so we buy the vacuum sealer bags to beef jerky seasonings almost every trip. Ammo they have some good deals every so often but 1-2$ more than Walmart but carry a lot of odd ball calibers. Gun prices are around 30-80$ more than academy, and the new check out line they made to pay and fill out paper work has made it too much work and time to buy a firearm. I think it was around 45min last time. On top of that it's hard to get help to look at a firearm or scope that's another 20min wait to add on. Reloading is a whole lot cheaper than bass pro and they carry most of the powders and primers i use with the prices a buck or two more as you can get online without the hazmat shipping fees. All in all you can get good deals if you look for them. read more

No silly, you can't use the same seasoning for bison and deer. Luckily they carry about 20 different flavors! Oh, you can also take that class to apply/reapply for your concealed handgun license. Talk about useful, bitches. And my favorite part - the mountain of taxidermied animals. Nothing says "HAPPY NEW YEAR" better than posing for pictures with dead, stuffed bobcats, beavers, and bighorn sheep in a sporting good store. Yes, it's true what they say - you can take the girl out of Asia but you can't take the Asia out of the girl. Minus one star because the dog boot selection was pretty pathetic. read more

People standing around doing nothing, everyone going to lunch at the same time, the people behind the counter won't make eye contact because then you might expect you to help them!! My complaint is the boat department. I went to purchase a bass boat and the sales man was great but the process not so much! It took over a month to get an answer back on my credit check etc. Then the boat department is very hard to get a hold of, especially the financial people. I basically felt like they didnt want to sell a boat, I felt like I had to hassle them in order to purchase it. So finally we got our boat and it has been over 2 months now and still haven't received the tags for it. Everytime we call they say "oh we will get it in another week". They have given us the run around and I will be speaking to a manager. I dont recommend anyone purchase a boat from here. read more

Cabelas kicks the crap out of Bass Pro and Gander Mountain. Amazing selection of everything needed for hunting and fishing, and a pretty good fly fishing department. This location even has a pond you can fish in, with a dock to the small lake where they demo the boats. Great customer service - when I broke a fly rod on the Yanis River this summer they replaced it no questions asked. read more

It's basically a natural history museum, aquarium, restaurant, grocery store, boat dealership, gun shop, and outdoor supplies store all rolled into one massive building. I mean seriously, they have EVERYTHING you could possibly need for outdoor adventuring. On top of all that they have an amazingly large clearance selection with huge discounts and some of the friendliest staff I have dealt with in the DFW area. We had my son's birthday party here. It was such a good price ($75) and the kids had a blast. The kids do a scavanger hunt all over the store, feed the fish, and get unlimited coins for the shooting gallery. You do have to order from the cafe if you plan on having food, the pizza was not very good, but most of the kids didn't notice. They have other options you might want to consider. But all in all, definitely worth it. It's an easy party for mom and dad gets to have fun too. read more

As a naturalist/biologist, I was extremely disappointed to see Cabela's acquariums/animals in such bad shape!!!! All of the fish had hideous growths or "Ick" growing on them! The sizeable growths are indicative of a long period of exposure/sickness. There is just NO excuse!!! NOT good for a business that is trying to sell items for the great outdoors. read more

I recently purchased a hunting rifle scope combo (Mossberg 270;Vortex Scope)and was excited when I heard that Cabela's performs "free" laser bore sighting to help setup a new scope. I took in my rifle and shopped around for about 1 1/2 hours while it was being bore sighted. If was finally complete and I took it home. Today I took it to Alpine Shooting Range to test fire it. At 30 yards it seemed rather off. I fired multiple shots and was beginning to think I was just a horrible marksman. I set up on the 100 yard range and after 8 shots (wasted bullets & money) I gave up. I took it inside Alpine and asked if they could bore sight it for me, which took about 5 min. The guy told me I was nearly 2 feet off to the left at 50 yards. I was like....what? He made corrections and told me to go try it again. To my amazement it was hitting much better on target. A young Range Master quickly jumped in and said "let me adjust that a bit more for you. With a few tweeks, I was hitting the bullseye or close to it every shot. This same young Range Master then took me over to the 100 yard range lane and had me shoot three shots. All three were nearly on top of each other, but a bit low and slightly left. He quickly made a few more turns on the scope adjustments and my next 8 shots at 100 yards were all in the kill zone of my small target. I was amazed!!! Now.....Cabela's.....you offer a free bore sighting service and while that's nice, you failed miserably at bore sighting my scope. If cost me nearly two boxes of 270 shells and a lot of frustration. It's a great customer service perk to offer "free" bore sighting services, but if you suck at it, it's no better than offering free brownies that taste like cow manure!! You're better off, not offering the service if those performing the task do it poorly because it's a reflection of your store and credibility. I'm still pretty miffed about wasting shells, because they aren't cheap. I'm very grateful to Alpine Shooting Range for their services. I highly recommend them, but don't waste time with "free" bore sighting at Cabela's.....sometimes you get what you pay for...... read more

One of my favorite places to shop! It's always interesting here. Great place for kids. I love the different animals on display, the restaurant, and their large selection on camo. They also have a big shooting game on the second floor. During Easter, you can bring your kids to get their picture taken with the Easter bunny and get a 4x6 for free. read more

This was my third trip and I must say they've got a lot of "stuff". Today I met Dustin in the gun section. I stood around at the "customer ready to purchase" section and was the next person but they went to a customer that just walked up after me. So much for politeness and following the rules. I spoke up just a little "excuse me" and Dustin came right over as soon as he finished. He took me through the holsters, sounded knowledgeable, and I took his advice. I purchased what will undoubtedly be a temporary holster. He showed me some IdentiLock security locks and transport safes, all the while Dustin seemed engaged and eager to help. Thanks Dustin, when you're new to this as I am, this can seem all so daunting especially with so many products on the market and in the store. read more

I ordered a gun online and it was shipped to the Fort Worth store. So, I went there and stood in line for about 20 minutes and although at least 8 people walked by, nobody asked if they could help me. When it was my turn at the register, I was told that I needed to take a number and wait in line. When I told them that I had already paid online and just wanted to pick up my gun, the guy (gray haired with a slight hunch back) was short and treated me like crap. This store has the worst, most unprofessional people I have ever encountered. I called customer service while waiting in line and cancelled my order. I then went to Panther City Firearms and bought the same gun there at the same price. They contacted me soon after to confirm they credited back my card, which is the only positive thing I have to say about Cabelas. The Fort Worth store is awful. read more

Finally I got to visit my first Cabela's and I was NOT disappointed! Given that my team only gave me 30 minutes to shop around, I had to run around the store at full speed to see what I could...I know I missed a lot. Cabela's had better wild life displays than most most natural history museums I've been to. In addition to the mounts on the walls, they had two huge display rooms with animals specifically from North America and Africa. An additional display was in the center of the store with game focusing on more North American species. They had two wonderful tanks of fish from South and North America. Very impressive displays. It is a store not a museum so in the quick 15 minutes I had left, I was only able to check out a fraction of their gear. My quick assessment is that they had a better selection of brands and variety of equipment compare to their big competitor. I like the range of items for kids to gear them up with real quality equipment for harsh environments. Although I really wasn't able to compare prices, I was left with the impression that I'd shop here than most places. Maybe it was a good thing that I only had 30 minutes. That probably saved me from spending my next three pay checks! read more

While this store had a lot of interesting things including the Diorama room and shooting gallery I found that some of the areas here were lacking in comparison to other stores. The upper area with furniture and furnishings seemed under stocked. The shooting gallery was in need of repairs as many of the laser guns were not functioning. The upstairs grill area just outside the restaurant looked like an after thought of items just placed to fill space. Downstairs as a whole seemed much more organized and maintained. read more
