I have the worst experience getting our home gutters cleaned with CA WIndow Cleaning. I found this company on www.handymanonline.com since I heard all the professionals were licensed and screened. I sent in my contact information and received a few phone calls. The company I liked most was CA Window Cleaning as the owner, Carl Appleby, was very personable and made me feel at ease. Boy was I wrong. He came early in the morning with 2 other guys which he basically dropped off- he didn't come back until the job was completed. This was the first telltale sign. After he had left, I realized that he never issued a receipt. Also, when I entered my backyard, I saw a pile of trash from my gutter just sitting there. I should have put the pieces together then, but at the time I was just happy to have the gutters cleaned. A month or two later when the rain season started coming in, we noticed water spots on the inside of our home. I'm not talking tiny spots, these were large 2-3 foot water stains stemming from the edge of our ceiling. I called a few roofers to come take a look and see what might be wrong. Not to our surprise, they said that numerous tiles were broken. They asked if anyone had been up on the roof recently because the cracks looked new and they were broken in a way as if they had been stepped on (as opposed to cracks from weathering). I called up Carl to explain the situation and he immediately denied having done anything. He claims he did not break anything without ever even coming over to take a look at the roof. First off, he was gone the entire time. How does he know what his men did and did not do? He said that his men did not go on the roof but I know they did because i tossed bottles of water up there for them. I'm very upset by how unprofessional the owner is- he did not even go up to the roof to assess the damage before denying everything. I'm not looking for monetary compensation, but I think an apology would be nice. It makes me very sad how shady their business practice is. I really don't mind paying money, I just want the job to reflect the amount paid; that's a fair thing to ask for. If you're looking for gutter cleaning services, I would suggest you find someone else unless you want a headache. read more

Yelp Be-Aware Before You Hire Carl. Everything he will promise you - next day he will forget. A true example (1) a power wash will become rinse wash. (2) he will say - I will bring my own water only to change his mind on day of service - saying I might need some water. I hardly posted a bad review on Yelp for any other vendor/contractors but Carl let me down Posted Previously = I trusted Yelp review and went with Carl. He gave me a quote for power wash and I scheduled and wrote the check only to learn that hey we don't want to do power wash - it will be rinse wash. Immediately had to cancel. Looking to get your windows cleaned? Carl Appleby is your guy. He is by far the best window cleaner that I have ever hired. He details the windows, the screens and the tracks. When he noticed some of my screens were broken he offerred to take them to his screen guy and have them repaired and then return them to me. The only charge was what the screen guy charged! I was very pleased with Carl and his team cleaning all of my windows (30+) as well as cleaning my solar panels. They are very meticulous, cleaned up all of the areas around the windows and pointed out issues with some of my windows. As they were cleaning my solar panels, Carl sent me pictures of my panels to show how clean they had become. Several of my screens were damaged and they offered to get them fixed and reinstalled. Having a two story house makes it very difficult for me to clean my windows on the 2nd story. All of my windows looked great after they were cleaned. I would highly recommend CA Window Cleaning! Didn't actually use them because they were very overpriced. I say this because he quoted me 6 hours of labor and a price of $480-$540. I did the math and couldn't see paying $80.00/hr for window washing. I run a contractor business myself and know the costs for insurance and labor. This was absurd. read more

Carl and his team arrived at our home on time as promised. They did a very good job in cleaning the windows. After the job was done everything was cleaned up and nothing left behind. We got the pressure wash for the concrete and exterior walls. They have a big trailer mounted machine to reuse the water so nothing is wasted down the storm drains.
