The good: I was in and out in 30 minutes on a Friday night, and the waiter was nice enough to validate my valet parking right away. The bad: I ordered two appetizers and an entrée as soon as I sat down (the waiter skipped the usual water/cocktail, then food, check in, etc. ), plus a glass of water and a cocktail. The appetizers arrived in less than five minutes. One appetizer contained white rice, which was undercooked and instantly stuck in my teeth. Arrived with nobody in the restaurant inside or outside without a reservation. I had requested to sit outside, but was told there was a rush coming and all tables will be full, so we had to sit inside. Our waitress greeted us and was truly amazing from the start. She was my favorite part of the entire experience. She was very attentive and helped guide us through the menu. The inside and outside both had a nice cool vibe. Music was just right. We started off with the Ensalada de Tomate, which was nice and refreshing, tomatoes and watermelon in a white vinaigrette with small pieces of avocado. We also had the Ñame, which were Yams, which seemed to be more Yucca, in a coconut milk. The flavor was good, but it was missing something to make it great! For mains we had the blue crab rice and prawns. I was disappointed. It seemed as this was a reheated left over from the night before. The rice was a little stale and the crab meat was lacking. We also had the mofongo with crispy pork. Pork was so dry it was hard to swallow, and the plantains were also dry. I feel like it needed some sort of sauce. The ambiance and waitress we had made this a 3 star review. Otherwise food was meh. I would recommend this if ur staying at the fairmont hotel and want to have a no hassle meal. This place is absolutely gorgeous! The ambiance is beautiful from the walk in through The Fairmont hotel until we finally found the restaurant. So many picturesque area and my friends and I absolutely took advantage. We did not make a reservation so we waited about 25-30 mins. It wasn't a long wait. The game was playing at the bar outside the restaurant and it was pretty nice. We were served and the waiter was a little snobbish. I'm not sure why, but we just continued our orders. 4 of my friends ordered the fish and I order the shrimp paella I believe. While we were having a conversation the waiter came back and his mood changed. He asked us if we were celebrating anything and we just said our girls trip from undergrad. He provided his a complimentary glass of cava. It was so thoughtful. Our meals were amazing!! We truly were not disappointed at all. The açaí was sooo good with fresh fruit and really good granola topped with fresh chocolate shavings! The food was so fresh. Everything they make is made from scratch and gathered locally. Our waiter Alberto was a pure delight. The perfect kind of sassy waiter. His company was extremely enjoyable. OMG I had such a good time at this place! I had dinner here with my boyfriend. It is a beautiful setting. Right on the beach and inside of the hotel that we actually stayed at. I, of course, got the mofongo and he got this crunchy pork dish that was really good as well! If you're going to sit outside make sure you have mosquito repellent cause it's no joke! Lol! We had a big party, with 13 people in all, 1 of which was a toddler. This dinner was supposed to be for my grandparents' anniversary, but it turned out very poorly. We made our reservation several months ahead where they shared the menu that was supposed to be available, as well as offering their accommodations such as one table for us all, being inside, and a kids menu. The restaurant was charging $150 per person, and when we tried saying that the toddler would only eat food that was brought for them, they still said they would charge for them, which was disappointing. When we got there for the reservation there were 2 separate tables, instead of one large table as had been requested, as well as being seated outside next to a noisy and actively used swimming pool. They moved us inside but said they couldn't do 1 table even though they said they would over email. The food itself was disappointing, with cold, unseasoned, and fatty meat, little selection, and overall poor quality especially for what we were paying. ($1,950 excluding drinks, tips, tax etc.) There were also multiple things on the menu that were promised and people were looking forward too that weren't offered such as champagne, morcilla (blood sausage), and a vegetable puree. Overall not a great experience, although the reason this is a 2 star review and not a 1 star, is the service. Our server was very nice, attentive, and understanding, and lowered the price as we expressed our issues and what was promised v what was given. Glad they had some great staff even if our experience wasn't. Very disappointed for my grandparents that this was the quality of what should have been a very nice meal and experience. read more

We waited outside until 12pm and we did see some people being let in. When we went in, there were already a couple of people sitting, (weird). Didn't want to get into it so I just let it go. The service here is bad the receiption desk lady is not patient and quite rude, but the table service is warm and welcomed. We waited almost one hour to have our food. The dish here looks great with multiple colors and plenty of ingredients. You can find a seamless blend with authentic PR food and some new and intresting flovors. I cannot express enough just how amazing this restaurant was. To start, the ambiance was breathtaking and very romantic. Alexandra was our waitress and to say that she was great, would be an understatement. She was kind, helpful, funny and honest. We absolutely loved her. Two words: Octopus escabeche!! We ate dinner here during a quiet weeknight and the service was excellent. We were looking for a place that served options that were not mofongo and not fried since we had eaten these popular foods throughout our vacation in Puerto Rico. I found this gem on a "best restaurants in Puerto Rico" type search online and I'm so glad we did! My husband and I went there yesterday to celebrate his 50th birthday. The staff was attentive and friendly Shayla the hostess and our waitress Carol was amazing. They we're helpful with the menu and even gave us suggestions for a night out per our request. The food was delicious we had the hummus made with pigeon peas and rabbit empanadas to start. My husband had the sirloin that just melted in your mouth, the rice and beans tasted like my mother in-laws. I had the pastels mashed with smoked pork yummy . I really enjoyed Cana and wish I was able to spend more time there. The space is lovely- it is a covered deck overlooking the beach and gorgeous El San Juan hotel pool. Our server was very kind and rushed things for us since we had to catch a flight. The food and drinks are on the pricier side than other spots you might find in the area but the quality is there. Their cocktails are excellent- particularly the watermelon mojito and the old fashioned. We tried the mofongo with pork and the fish tacos. We had the buffet breakfast 2 mornings straight as we love our omelettes and oatmeal but the faces the omelette station worker gives you can keep you from ordering. Worst customer service ever. I don't know who these people think they are but they are the rudest most elitist staff I have ever met in my entire life. We tried to get a brief pre-dinner drink at Cana and watch the sunset. The hostess told us that they were completely booked even if we only wanted to have a drink for 15 minutes (there was literally no one at any of the tables). I cannot believe the Fairmont has such horrible staff working for it that are so rude to potential new customer (we were considering booking a room that night).
