I am very disappointed with my experience at the C&A store in Woluwe‑Saint‑Lambert on 11 October 2025. I visited wearing a sweater I had legally purchased there the day before. When I entered and later exited, the security gate beeped -- and no staff reacted. This was already confusing and stressful, as it had happened the day before as well.
Later, a staff member approached me, lifted my sweater, and checked the security tag while holding my personal handbag. I was completely honest and cooperative, but I felt treated like a thief, which was humiliating and deeply upsetting.
When they asked me for proof of purchase, I want to stress that I am not obliged to carry or keep the receipt after paying for something. The store should respond appropriately when the gate beeps, not whenever it suits them.
This has never happened to me before, and it was extremely stressful and embarrassing. I even returned to ask if they would apologize, and was told that I should apologize instead for not informing them when the gate beeped. No sincere apology was ever offered.
I hope C&A seriously reviews their procedures and trains staff to treat customers with respect, fairness, and professionalism in situations like this. Nobody should ever feel accused or humiliated for simply shopping. read more
