Just had some work done with C&A Upholstery John & Staff. My experience was fantastic. John was a pleasure to work with, his knowledge and experience in the business is very strong. My fabric covers had to be removed and the cores were rewrapped for better support and firmness. These 3 pieces, my sofa seat cushions and bumpers came out PERFECT. The firmness and support is great. I had several older outdoor chairs that required new cushions. After getting several quotes for new cushions I found this professional who assisted me in ordering Sunbrella fabric and was able to recreate cushions for all my chairs at a reasonable price and in a reasonable time. Similar to NYC, you can make yourself nuts choosing just one fabric / upholstery / vintage, design, etc. shop. Drive Dixie Hwy in WPB and there must be at least two dozen to choose from. But sometimes location and address doesn't translate to value. Off the beaten path just behind Target, Lake Park is a small upholstery shop with prime location results. I did exactly what you're doing now: reading a half dozen results trying to find that legit shop that wasn't going to make my eyes twitch with a quote. I was a bit nervous when he asked for a deposit up front, balance paid upon completion. I joked that I hoped he wasn't planning on skipping town - but I took the chance on C&A. John is as sweet as can be and has been doing this long enough to know how to accommodate. I brought in 13 boat seat cushions and couldn't make up my mind about new upholstery. He handled my indecisiveness pleasantly, and reassured me he'd meet my 'before the fourth' deadline. Finishing in less than two weeks, he delivered above and beyond my expectations. Cushions look better than they did previously, and changed the look of my boat interior tremendously. Looks like a new boat! Now I'm thinking about redoing all of my patio cushions! But after a month of waiting and empty promises to show up, the guy NOW says he needs to be paid in advance by check before he is willing to show up. No credit cards, no invoices, no bills of sale. I highly recommend this business. I had to get 4 dining room chairs reupholstered last week and John was awesome. When I first called he told me he was backed up until January. I explained I needed them sooner and brought them in on a Tuesday of Thanksgiving week. I was leaving in one week and he said he could get two done, by working over Thanksgiving.
