The room was extremely small and very worn. No natural light entered the room and it's was very depressing. We stayed doing two of the hottest days this summer and the lack of (any) ventilations was unbearable. Windows could be open, but then the noises where too much. Breakfast was included, and due to COVID-19 it was served at your (very small) table. It was okay however it was about the same thing served both days, I would quickly get tired of this if staying longer. Room and public places felt somewhat cleaned. This hotel is different and in some ways very unique, but not a good place to get your sleep and relax (lots of noise between the rooms and from the courtyard). Sadly, I do not recommend.

Its right in the center of town across from the Cathedral. A short walk to the train station, tons of shopping and eating and right near the canal. There is quality inside and out, from the beautiful historic Elevator in the lobby to the mural covered walls depicting danish history to the finely appointed rooms and en-suite baths. I had a standard single which was one of their smaller rooms and it was fine. I never felt cramped. There's no noise issues. The included Breakfast offered an extensive selection of delicious food. I have stayed here twice (appox 20 days) and would definitely stay again.

How you take it is completely up to you, but at beginning I was a little creeped. Room is descent size, especially for building of this age. My room was a twin, bed was comfortable but only one small pillow. Work desk has pretty of space to sores laptop, note pad, etc. Shower and toilet are right next to beach other separated by very tiny glass wall, and almost impossible to keep shower water from spreading to the toilet area, not smart design. Room is covered with many painting, decoration, etc. a little overwhelming. Internet connection was superb. Make sure you obtain password at front. Breakfast was good, had patently of selection that you would expect from any hotel with. Choice of hot meal and cold. I think they are all home made...breads were really good. Fitness center was nicely equipped with cardio machine and pretty of free weights. The downside was I couldn't control room temp and was warm, had to open window all night. Parking is difficult (also the city was going through huge construction everywhere so I just couldn't get to hotel). Overall this is a very nice little hotel and would recommend.

The location can't be better it is 50m from the walking street. It is about 5 min walking from the train station and it has a parking lot just underneath so anyway you get there it is quite easy. The breakfast is included in the room rate and the buffet is amazing. The best part is the freshly made pastry. The rooms are spacious even though it is in the center. The bed is comfortable and the amenities very nice. The service is really good. My only complaint is the blinds they are not total they let some light come in. Holes in the walls from old fixtures, and corners impossible to clean. Towels were clean, but they had a strange smell. The fabric quality was not very good. You could barely get dry after a bath. The common areas were okay, but nothing special. I have heard, that the breakfast buffet should be good. But it was below standard with a lot of premade bread, Danish, and pancakes. I expected much more. The staff was wunderfull and very attentive. Their good spirit and class could learn the hotel a 3rd or even 4th star. Standard rate is around € 300 for a double room. I had to send back my angus filet mignon because the chef HF overcooked it. But they quickly fired up a new one and that was much better. Breakfast was great though. I've never had a bad breakfast at a Scandic hotel so this was really no surprise. But still appreciated. I've booked my next stay at Scandic Aarhus City instead for a lower price. I hope that will prove the Scandic standard also lives in Denmark.

The hotel is known to be sustainable and eco-friendly, using environmentally sustainable products and organic food. Everything about it was so lovely! We got a cozy and private room tucked away in the back of the building. The bed had a beautiful canopy and the room had a lot of pretty detailing since it is a very old building. We enjoyed the complimentary morning breakfast, coffee throughout the day, and friendly staff. The Guldsmeden has a number of hotels throughout Denmark and the Nordic countries, with Aarhus being the original location. We would stay at another one in a heartbeat!

I had arrived in town earlier than expected at 10 am when check in was at 2pm. I came in to the hotel just to ask for a place to leave my luggage until my check in time. The lady at the front desk checked and told me that a room was available and that I could check in early! I was excited to hear this and did not expect it as this was around the holiday - New Years... She also proceeded to help me out by offering up suggestions on things to do and places to see, which was great for me as I am not from DK. The room itself was fairly nice, larger than some of the other hotel rooms I had stayed at while traveling in DK. I was in a room on the level immediately below the Exec. room floors which gave me a fairly nice view of the city. The bathroom was really nice and large my only complaint was that there was a smell in the bathroom when I checked in to the room that took some airing out. Not the most pleasant experience with that... However all the other amenities and room features were nice. Overall not a bad experience at all and if I am ever in Aarhus again in need of a hotel I would consider staying here again.

The I house restaurant is very pleasant and serves great food. Amendments are pretty expensive but there are shops everywhere that can serve you with almost anything. So no big deal. The location of the hotel is perfect. As close to the Centre as you can get.
