This tower on the Unterer Mauerweg with its characteristic half-timbered top-floor and the steeply hunched gable roof (16th century) is a landmark of the city of Dinkelsbühl. It was named after the tower guard and tanner Hans Bäuerlin.
It consists of slender, un-plastered ashlar stone building with a protruding half-timbered crown story and a steep half-hipped roof. The original structure was constructed in 1400, the upper third of the tower and construction are from the 16th century.
You can reach this tower very easily on foot. If you enter the town at the Nördlingertor, turn right on to Unterer Mauerweg. It's located not too far from there along the city wall & the Wörnitz. If you park your car in Schwedenwiese P1 (free), you can walk across the bridges over the Wörnitz and turn left immediately upon entering the city wall (Unterer Mauerweg). It's only a few minute's walk from there. Enjoy! read more
