We came here twice -- before and after completing the via ferrata! The shop is located on the upper pathway that forks off to the right if coming from the Lauterbrunnen-Winteregg-Murren train station. I think the coffee shop is owned by some Australian's because they had meat pies in the warmer, some DELICIOUS toasties (served well past 2pm when other spots close), and Australian flat whites (made with ristretto versus espresso). The staff was super kind, energetic and helpful. Wonderful to sit outside at the tables to admire the beautiful scenery.
As for the rental shop, they were super great! The instructional intro video was short and sweet. Staff made sure we were strapped up properly in the harness, via ferrata lanyard, and helmet. They even let my friend who forgot her sunglasses borrow (at no cost) a random pair they kept in a shop drawer. Super chill! After giving us helpful, easy directions to access the start of the via ferrata, we were on our way in no time. Staff said it would take 3 hours, but it ended up taking us nearly 4 hours with all the deng queues! Curse social media to heck!!! XD We thought we had missed out on lunch (as most places close at 2pm), but this shop was a godsend continuing to serve some of the best comfort food! Another huge positive. But, regardless, it was still a grand time because you really cannot beat those views of Gimmelwald valley.
We did need to return the gear to the shop afterward which was no problem whatsoever. There are other shops to rent from along the pathway below, but with connecting coffee shop and easy-going staff, this is the ultimate one stop shop!
