I will remove this if they make it right. Twice they have lost doctors between my appointments and labs. They made me make a second appointment for the same prescription for a new doctor at their practice. Then they did it again after an appointment that I had to do labs after for. When I did labs they called me and told me to get another appointment plus annual exam for the prescription I already completed with the doctor who quit. Jana, the office manager told me that she would give me a temporary prescription but not the full prescription because she wanted to bill my insurance for the annual wellness exam. How can an office manager tell me I cant have a prescription? She didnt even ask the doctor to look at the appointment notes or the labs and said she would only let them do a temporary prescription. Not what I went to them for. Not what me and the actual doctor agreed to. Not the reason I got labs. She accused me of being rude when I told her I should take my business elsewhere. Clearly trying to create a narrative of an angry unreasonable customer. She feels untouchable I guess. I will update this review if the business contacts me. If youre still reading, it means they made no attempt to make anything right. A business is not their most rude or incompetent employee unless they allow it to go unchecked. This is very unethical to hold a prescription hostage so they can charge insurance for additional services. read more

Singing praises for Dr. Button and his staff at Button Family practice, Canon City, CO. Medical appointments with both Dr. Button and Kathleen Kopacz have been marvelous. The staff are also friendly, professional, and caring. I am retired military and needed care closes to home. Dr. Button and his staff are as professional and caring as the military medical staff are. Pharmacy submitted for a refill for COPD but it was rejected so I called dr office. Was told my original prescriber was no longer there and since I haven't been there in awhile I would need to be seen. I'm also immune compromised. I've been out of my inhaler for two days. Just had my appt, masks not required for public social distancing is not practiced or even encouraged by signs, tape. Nurse and NP were great and come to find out they offer telemedicine. Wish I was told that before I was in the room. Been a patient there since 2007 and will not be back. read more

Just one month into our new home, Dr Button's practice seemed to be the closest doctor in proximity to our home. My husband and I have numerous medical needs, I have osteoporosis and he is a diabetic. Seeing the nurse practitioner and physician assistant right off the bat was our first experience with the practice. Not sure the level of care would be met, I was willing to stay loyal to this practice. After looking at my chart from my previous doctor, the nurse practitioner who left me with a very positive impression at my last visit started raising her voice and complaining about the number of medicines I am on. She stated that she wanted me to get off the medicines asap. I asked her to write out a plan knowing that it takes some time for a person to adjust to med changes. My impression this time was that she was getting hysterical about it. A change must be made. Thinking perhaps it was for the best, I thought perhaps I could be seen by Dr Button on a regular basis. Imagine my surprise when I received a letter asking me to leave the practice. They stated that my care must be covered by a practice with more available resources. I understand and applaud their decision, I just wish it would have been told to me in a kinder and more caring way. Looking through available practitioners' information I noticed Dr Button emphasized care as his strength. In the "About Us" part of his website, it is stated, "Today, Button Family Practice, P.C. strives to maintain a staff of committed medical professionals who are on a mission to take care of you and your loved ones." Well, my question is "What happened to the care I needed as a new patient?" The committed medical professional could have easily stepped up my care by referring me to secondary care professionals in the community as was done by my former doctor of 20+ years where we lived prior. I admit being a little anxious as a patient, losing the doctor that I had was difficult for me when we retired to Colorado, however expressing concern about my care at the time I received it should be expected by a professional. Herein lies the rub, being seen by an actual doctor-an MD, that is what would have made the difference and Dr Button didn't have time for me. In January I started with Humana and they assigned me to Button Practice. At that time I had 3 scripts and in March I needed refills. I called the office to speak with my NP or her nurse but they were seeing patients, OK, they would call me back. No call back, 2 days later I repeated the call. same results. Tried one more time same result, no call back. I went in and demanded to know what I had to do to get a refill. I finally got it after 3 weeks and had 1 pill left. Fast forward 3 months and needed refills again so I request them on Humana's website and nothing, Clinic claimed to not get the request for refills.. tried again, same result and after 3 phone calls to clinic and Humana I finally got my refills again after 3 weeks of trying. Had an appointment Friday and NP and office mgr came into room amd proceeded to chew me out for being loud and upset and they were considering dropping me as a patient. I had a urgent medical need but they used up my time chewing me out and refused to address my need. They took zero responsibility for any "possible" cause of the problem and blamed Humana and me for the problem. Its is someone else's problem not theirs . Their motto should be "Not our Problem"!! Avoid this practice, I am as I have already found a new Dr and will actually see a Dr and not NP's all the time. I'm not sure there is even a Dr there as I never go a glimpse of him. read more

One might think something as innocuous as the people who answer the phones here not relaying patient's messages to the medical professionals whose office they work in, not being a big deal. I'm fact, this leads to many hardships for the patients who haven't yet undertaken the task of finding another Dr.'s office, including (but certainly not limited to) rescheduling (weeks out, at best) procedures that would have drastically improved the quality of life of the patient. In fact, one such procedure required months of family members lobbying for its approval, only to be pushed further into the future, for no other reason than the way the apathetic, incompetent staff can't perform the simplest task of relaying a phone message to the proper Dr., NP, etc. One might ponder how many times this carelessness has directly or indirectly cost a patient what was left of their quality of life, permanently or temporarily, or even cost the patient their life. There is nothing but nurses here. They may have some advanced training, but they just don't have the skills or knowledge to do any kind of accurate patient assessment. It seems like that's the way the doctor runs his practice; nurses are all you will ever see, I'm sure this gives him the most money. I went in with a severe pain in my back and stomach. This later turned out to be a life threatening GI problem that kept me in the hospital for over a week. I flew to Pueblo in a medical helicopter. The "nurse" at Button told me that I should go to physical therapy. Even set up an appointment. There was no doctor involvement or checking things at all. I think this is part of their business model. The nurse never really gave me any real attention. She had no diagnostic skill and she almost killed me through lack of knowledge and ineptitude. Physical therapy for stomach issues? That's what you get at Button. If you can't find another doctor in Canon, go to Pueblo. This practice is set up to maximize cash flow to the doctor, at least that is what my experience with Button Family Practice demonstrated to me. If you want to live stay away from Button. read more

The nurse that brought me back to an exam room was friendly and warm, but the physician made me consider going to a completely different practice. I saw one of the physicians assistants, who told me I would have to come in two or three separate times in the next month. When I mentioned this to the receptionist, she explained that the three appointments wasn't necessary. The physician I saw also suggested that maybe I should go to a counselor or a psychiatrist instead of a physician for my problems. I was thoroughly uncomfortable and offended. read more

My kids have been going to dr.buttons for 2 years almost I've been looking for a different dr for a while and the dr my daughter sees I've asked multiple times for her to not see her and they always schedule her with my daughter she is not gentle with my 2 year old at all and always try's to say that there is nothing wrong with my daughter when she is sick and always looks up what she can give my daughter and always asking other doctors what she can do cause she don't know what to do when my daughter is sick and if my daughter needs a prescription she doesn't send it to our pharmacy. My son hasn't had a problem with the dr he has it's only my daughter it's really frustrating when I call to reschedule an appointment for my daughter if something comes up and then I get a letter saying if I miss one more appointment I will need to find a different dr for my daughter to see. It also is very frustrating that when both my kids are sick I can't get them both seen the same day cause it's against there policy. read more

I began seeing "Dr.Tanya" around September of last year. At the very first appointment I had with witness in tow, I informed Tanya, I was a marijuana smoker. I was honest and I have absolutely nothing to hide. I live in a legal state and take no other meds except loads of aspirin and ibuprofen. She said NOTHING at the time about her or the clinics personal conviction towards the herb. She continued to see me, asking questions and sending for tests while my health declines, NEVER saying word ONE about pot. After 4 months of constant b.s. from her office, being rushed through every appointment, not getting any better, she looked at me straight in the face and said "Michele, you SHOULD be on nerve blockers," and continued to name about 5 other medications, to treat what she knew I already had, and had been prescribed by other REAL medical professionals that she also knew, "but I will NOT help you because you smoke marijuana." Besides spinal stenosis and arthritis in my neck, she had results from MRI's that I had to beg for, depletion in oxygen, and countless accruing m.s. symptoms, falls, seizures, etc., she was willing to let me die before she did anything PERIOD, because of a personal judgement call. I stormed out of her office and after she recklessly played with my life, not giving me the opportunity to find someone who wouldn't bastardize the doctors oath or any remnant of human decency, she and her office screwed me on my med 9 form and any cash assistance from the state for rent, bills, disability because she would never even look at it, and a couple months ago, I went to the e.r. at Parkview Medical Center with chest pain. The c.t. scan showed thickening in my left breast tissue and darkening like I had old pneumonia. The e.r. doctors exact words were "It looks like you've been sick awhile." I was referred to a neurologist and radiologist. If so called doctor Tanya had done anything at all, I might not be where I am now. While I understand there are no real cures for spinal stenosis, arthritis, or m.s., there does come a time when even marijuana can't subside all the pain, symptoms, and side effects. Other treatments are medically necessary. I suppose if I died from fall, heart attack, stroke, or seizure, then my kids could fight for the disability and state funding she screwed me on. Unfortunately, now my days are spent looking for an attorney to sue the hell out of Tanya and Button Family Practice. A heroin addict can get a shot of narcan at a revolving door e.r., and never NOT be treated. She had no ethical or moral right to do what she did, much less does Buttons office have to support a piece of **** like that! The last 8 months of my life, health wise and financially speaking have been a living horror stemming from that sorry excuse for a "medical professional". And if I wanted drugs, which they could see in my blood tests, was not a factor, at 47 years old and living in this town on and off for over 20 years, liked in every other city or town in the country, walk a while your front door. You can find anything and everything. Disgusting place, disgusting morals, disgusting EVERYTHING! HOW DO YOU GIVE A ZERO STAR THIS PLACE SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN!!! read more

Worst office Ive ever been to! The "convenient" hours for parents and working adults have been updated so no childrens visits for physical exams, which they keep calling to have me schedule, and no visits for vaccines in the evening hours when parents get off work. I work until 530pm every day and now I have to find a way to take off work to take them in earlier because it is difficult for them after 5. Are you kidding me? Train your staff better then! I am definitely done with this office! I cant get my medication refilled, which Ive been taking for 20 years for my diabetes, I have to go in each time? I was in the last week of June for my diabetes and told Darlene I didnt need a new refill just yet and she said when the pharmacy calls, they would approve 6 months since I was in that day for my check up but only got a one month supply and told I have to come in again even though Darlene said 6 months! The manager told me that "this is the way it is now". The front desk is so rude and act like they dont want to talk to you or you are bothering them and the nursing staff is the worst! Seems like they hate being there and simply dont care about patients. It sure isnt like it used to be! They have really changed since the beginning of the year and seems like it is all about money now instead of taking care of the people who put their trust in this office! STAY AWAY FROM HERE!! Even though they open at 8 don't expect an appointment at 8am or 8:30 either. I've been going here for a little over 2 years and I've seen most of the nurses there. I've never seen one of their doctors. One of the nurses will be friendly and listen to your complaint but it doesn't sink in what you're telling her. The place has a clinic mentality; as in they will only address one complaint per visit and I have been told that on the phone. If you like that kind of thing by all means check them out. I was referred to Button Family Practice by the Pueblo VA due to their staff shortages. Button scheduled me an appointment, I waited as a month went by, then I got a call saying the Doctor won't be in on the Friday I was scheduled for my first appointment in early July. I was rescheduled to the next available on August 10. I accepted the appointment. I am a healthcare provider at Fort Carson and am myself, scheduled out about 4-6 weeks. Well today is July 18 and I received a call from Button family practice indicating that the Doctor will not be in on 8/10, again. I refused to reschedule again, there was no apology. I called up Colorado Springs VA CBOC and accepted their next first available. Button family practice inability to properly manage their schedule has wasted 5 months of my life by the time I'm actually able to see a provider. I can't judge them on their clinical practice due to not being seen. This review reflects their clinic access and administrative staff with scheduling. read more

Have been coming here for years and always end up having to wait at least 20-30 mins before being taken back and then at least another 15 minutes to see the nurse practicioner that everyone in our family sees and loves. Last week we waited over an hour and a half to see her, but did not complain even with it being through the dinner hour with a hungry baby and hungry kids waiting for us to get out. Today, I arrive 10 minutes late. First time late ever. And, I am told I have to reschedule. Are you flipping kidding me???!!! What about all the time I have spent waiting and waiting and waiting. My pharmacy was told it had been 2 years since I had been in. I am a regular patient. The receptionist hung up on me the 2nd time I called back after being on hold 7 minutes the previous time I called. They have turnover in staff and administration like you wouldn't believe, and they wonder why... The receptionist told me several different things each time I called...it was bizarre..she obviously didn't know what she was talking about and kept making things up. read more

Who runs this place!? Every time I call to ask questions about receiving my records I'm told they aren't sure where my chart is. When I ask to speak to a supervisor there's never one there. If you can find a person there to give you good care, great. They have a huge turn around. They seem to be all about charging your insurance and require you to come back in to receive your lab results. Kaiser isn't happy about this BTW... when I've asked for Dr button to call me to discuss my concerns, he never calls. Again who runs this place!? Also let's talk about tacky, the rooms with Dr Button's daughters looking at you while you are having an exam. Just plain weird if you ask me. What's the point of that. Having pictures of your family in an exam room creeps me out. Bottom line. This place is all about money, billing your insurance and losing records and despite receiving complaints there is no follow up. I think they believe that most of their patients have Medicaid and don't really have a choice. Wake up call. Crappy service weird rooms equals less patients. I have been going to this office almost since they opened and the doctors and staff were just wonderful. Now, heaven forbid if someone doesn't have their $2 co pay! The ladies in the front office treat people like crap with their "better than thou" attitude, and if you actually want to see Dr. Button, you'd better make your appointment 2 to 3 months in advance because he isn't there a lot. I've been going to this family practice clinic for over two years. I had a triple bypass over a year ago. I have received great care from this clinic, especially certified nurse practitioner Darlene McPhee. She listens, explains everything, and truly cares about her patients. She doesn't hesitate to consult with Dr. Button when necessary. Everyone working in the clinic are professional, courteous, caring, and enjoy smiling and joking. I found that the first year after open heart surgery can be devastating and without the professionals at Dr. Buttons clinic I don't feel I would be in the great shape I am today. read more

This office provided the absolute worst experience my family has ever had with any medical professional. In a little over two months they required my husband to come in for three separate appointments - resulting in multiple insurance claims, at least one with a procedure code we could not identify - to receive a refill for a script he has had for over two years. The last time they would not even refill the script as they 'couldn't get a hold of the previous provider to verify the diagnosis.' That previous provider? The VA! In over two months they could not get ANYONE on the phone at the Veteran's Health Administration? I find that highly implausible, having contacted and worked with them for years. And mind you in all this time they never requested that we provide records ourselves to speed the process, never let us know they had any trouble reaching anyone, and never mentioned it would be a barrier to continued treatment. They consistently challenged my husband, making him feel ashamed to receive the medication and treatment he needs. Combined with the atmosphere and attitude of the support staff and the fact that my husband never even met an MD, this practice does little to uphold the oath of 'first do no harm.' If there was a way to recommend them less, I would. read more

I have to say one thing about a previous post. You have to ASK to see the actual Dr. my husband ONLY sees him and he's wonderful!! They only allow "established patients" to see this dr, and we haven't seen him but maybe a year and he got in. Could be because he has health issues, and any "normal" visits (those that don't require the experience of an MD) can be seen by any PA or nurse. Also, one of the other PAs is wonderful! A few of the new people there are just getting their feet wet but they try. The staff is very friendly. One thing I don't like is the wait because if you're pressed for time, they need to get people in and out on time. sometimes emergencies happen, or certain patients get to yapping and don't shut up so other people can be seen. I've had several 30-60 minute waits, but not all the time. Recently I was told I was discharged from the practice because I moved and the discharge was actually by accident, so the actual Dr (since I couldn't get ahold of the office manager) had the siuation cleared. They really do try to go out of their way to help. And best appointments are done BEFORE the afternoon or LATER in the afternoon before the evening. read more
