New school with a new principal we thought? No - turns out that the school itself was deficient and not teaching its established curriculum. Several months of waiting for an improvement were for naught. Numerous complaints to the school were ignored. Referred by a fellow student's mother to Erika at The Learning Tree, my daughter was quickly enrolled - several days a week - in both math and social studies. Different tutors and different teaching style, but an improvement was noticed in just a few weeks. Located in southwest Vero Beach on 43rd Avenue, The Learning Tree provides a clean facility - with the occasional snack - and plenty of parking. An executive decision by the parents was made and our daughter stayed for two-thirds of the remaining school year, along with a few summer programs. Moving to a new school the following school year, all the better having been enrolled at The Learning Tree in Vero Beach. Our daughter attended about 70 late afternoon tutoring sessions from Thanksgiving until the end of the school year. A vast improvement, we owe the final result to the staff at The Learning Tree. All he did was check my child's homework.i sat there and watched my child struggle with a problem and I had to ask her if she needed help. Then he solves the problem on a sheet of paper and gives it back, without explaining anything. This session cost me $50 and I even left early. So i do not recommend The Learning Tree at least not with that tutor When I texted Erika to let her know what a horrible experience I had she replied ok, sorry that happened I will definitely talk with Matt about it. This is not how we operate.all That's great but I'm out $50 and I'm only adding a star because I have to.

The administration enjoys running what used to be a school for the creative, odd, or otherwise non-traditional student into a bastion of fascism. Mr. Sternberg has been an even more horrific addition to the staff. He seems to believe that his job support students includes dashing dreams, enforcing rules for rules sake and generally being an ass. He actually told me there was no chance I would get into UChicago my senior year -- well, clearly he was mistaken. On from the admin -- to abstinence only sex ed? We had 3 freshman get pregnant and I literally heard one freshman my senior year say "We did it in a hot tub, so I know I'm safe." SERIOUSLY? In this day and age is this really possible? Not to mention the hokey speakers they brought and FORCED us to sit though. Like the abstinence lady who handed out "ATM Cards" which were Abstinence Till Marriage cards. Leaving the bad grammar aside, these people have their heads in the sand when it comes to the reality of high school student's sex lives. And then the education. As the "best" public high school in the county (the only "A" school) I found it to be a joke. I transferred here from a private school 1/2 way through my junior year and was horrified by what I found. We spent an entire semester working on a 500 word essay in one of my classes -- and the students complained it was too long! I never felt challenged or offered any worthwile opportunities here. I can only say I am grateful they didn't manage to ruin my chance of getting into a good college and getting out of there!
