I got to try Butter and Cream Bakery's famous blue velvet cake during my cousin's birthday. Being a red velvet fan, I was definitely intrigued and excited to try out blue velvet. Butter and Cream Bakery's blue velvet cake is filled with cream cheese and raspberry jam. I found their cake to be sweet but not too sweet. The flavor was just right. I was somehow surprised though with the taste because I got a subtle hint of a fruity flavor. I thought it was more like a lemon flavor but perhaps the fruitiness was coming from the raspberry. Overall the blue velvet cake was a delightful dessert and one I enjoyed.

Delicious! We ordered cake for a bday at the office and happened to order this one. It has a hint of lemon which gives it a refreshing taste! Soft and moist and the filling is whip cream. The top is butter cream which is a bit sweet but no one said you had to eat it all. Located in a small strip mall and it's cute inside. We need to support these small businesses!

I used to go to this place very often when they were the great Dane bakery. I went over there last week and ordered a cake for my daughter's birthday which they've made many many times before.. we always get the same thing classic white vanilla cake with Bavarian cream and fresh strawberries very simple order. I paid $75 for a cake. I picked it up on this past Saturday, November 1. However, to our surprise, the cake was not what we ordered.. I specifically stated no buttercream. It was a naked cake to be covered with a whipped cream, not buttercream, , the inside did not have Bavarian cream, but instead had whipped cream. The cake was trash and you ruined my daughter's 18th birthday..!!!!! do you understand the feeling we have as parents when we pick up a cake for my daughter and she won't even eat it because she doesn't like buttercream more importantly it didn't have Bavarian cream which has a very distinct flavor and taste, and cannot be mistaken with whipped cream under any circumstance! I will never return to your company! And if there was a question or concern, you should have called and asked, not assumed something and made an incorrect order. My number is clearly written on your receipt.

We love Butter + Cream Bakery! Not only are their cakes delicious, but they are stunning as well. The team is so friendly and really works to make your vision come to life. Butter + Cream made our wedding cake and it was so incredible we keep going back for all of our special occasions. Most recently they baked the CUTEST birthday cake for me! It was a marble cake with cappuccino mousse inside and was to die for. Highly recommend whether you're looking for a single slice, whole cake, or another sweet treat!

I couldn't be happier with my cake! It was executed to perfection, stunning to look at and absolutely delicious. The blue velvet with lemon custard, a staff recommendation, was a total win.

My baby turned one in July and we ordered a cake from Butter + Cream Bakery to celebrate with a small family gathering at my in-laws. The bakery originally suggested a 9-inch cake, but my husband was nervous about serving small slices--so we went with a 10-inch. Honestly, the 9-inch would've been enough, haha! Luckily, everyone took some home since we all live separately. We asked for a Stitch design from Lilo & Stitch (her favorite character), and they delivered exactly what we had in mind. I was so excited when I saw it--especially because "Stitch" was her first word! The cake itself was amazing--soft, light vanilla cake with a delicious birthday cake filling. Even my husband and his family, who usually aren't big cake eaters, couldn't stop talking about how good it was. Yes, there was a lot of buttercream, but that was expected with the design we chose. My baby was thrilled and even loved the small slice she ate. If you're looking for bday cakes this is the place to come!

Why isn't there an option for more stars? Because these little gems would take the (cup)cake! I made this order online, based off of a photo on their website, and I picked up BETTER than was pictured!! The sweetest flower cupcakes, so delicately hand crafted were the hit of a friend's country and western party! I ordered the little cows from Amazon, washed and stuck them in the middle which added to the C&W theme, but the cupcakes were just as adorable without. The colors are a beautiful pastel and the taste is to die for!! I'll definitely be getting these again. Also, very nice girls at the counter made for a super easy transaction. Hugs all around!!

Customized gender reveal cake!

I LOVE this bakery. My husband and I ordered our wedding cake from here a few years ago and we got so many compliments from our guests about how delicious the cake was. Occasionally we order birthday cakes from them and they have always met and surpassed our expectations with its flavor, quality and design. We also custom ordered a gender reveal cake through their online form, by submitting a design I randomly found online and they recreated the cake to the tee! Again, all my family and friends who tasted the cake inquired about the bakery because of how delicious it was. If you are looking for a bakery for weddings, birthdays or special occasion for customization, do not look further! I have done my fair search of bakeries for my wedding and Butter + Cream is by far the best, for its quality and reasonable pricing! Thank you Butter + Cream

Came here on a Friday to get these adorable "spooky" cookies! Their glass showcase was empty but their cookies showcase had lots of cute options for you to take without ordering ahead. The girl at the front counter was also super kind and patient, and took the time to put these in a small box for me after I said they were going to be a gift. Excited to have a local spot for me to come by and get pastries/cookies from again soon!

This is the funfetti birthday cake.

I called because I needed two small cakes last minutes and not only did they have plenty of flavors to choose from, but they had different sizes and they were able to put writing on each one. I had my cakes within an hour of calling them and they were so professional and the cakes are beautiful. Obviously I had to buy myself a piece of cake and some cookies while I was there and they are so delicious. The cakes are so moist and flavorful and the cookies are the perfect amount of sweet and soft and crunchy. It's probably a good thing I don't t live closer because I would be eating cake for dinner once a week.

Custom 8 in cake!
Rachel S.

Beautifully made cake! I asked for a custom with a reference picture with how I wanted it to look and it turned out great! They had great communication via email when I inquired about the custom cake and it was a seamless order. The taste is much too sweet for my taste, but honestly people really just look at how pretty it is rather than the taste for a big party This cake was for a daughter's 1st birthday party. My husband went to pick it up and was told that a couple paid for our cake! Turns out, they had lost their 1yo and wanted to help celebrate another child's birthday It was such a meaningful gesture and made our daughter's birthday so much more special. Thank you to butter and cream for a beautiful cake and a huge THANK YOU to Joshua's parents for celebrating with us! We are so grateful for you. I wish I could thank you in person.

Thank you so much butter n cream for the delicious and beautiful cake! Edgar and I are huge foodies and from the moment we had our cake tasting we knew the cake would be a highlight of the wedding! We love peanut butter and we're not expecting to have that as an option! Choosing a few flavors out of their huge variety was definitely tough, but we wouldn't change a thing. They executed everything perfectly and all of their team members were extremely knowledgeable. We will definitely be ordering cakes from butter n cream in the future! They put so much detail and care into everything they make and we know they will nail any style! -Emily and Edgar Lopez

Ask the Community - Butter + Cream Bakery

Can someone walk in and buy one or two cookies or do they need to be ordered online?

They usually have things at the store, but you never know what's there. Best to order online and pick it up to get exactly what you want - but there's always SOMETHING there! I've never been when there were no cookies.

Was this previously Danes Bakery?

Great Dane Bakery, yes.

Are they closed all this week? New Years week? Been calling for two days with no answer...

So I've been looking for good sandwich rolls /hoagie rolls submarine type and have searched about 8 local "bakeries" seems they sell sweets and pies etc ? Does this place have? Of can someone recommend? Thx. I need a real bakery I can't seem to find

Try De Simone Bakery on Edinger in Huntington Beach.

Are there gluten free desserts here? Is it available daily?

Looks like they have ready made cakes, for 10-12 people. I'm looking at getting the round blue velvet. but I wanted to cover with a printed Stranger Things Theme edible icing. Is 2-3 day two short of a lead time?

Not 100% sure but I do know that there is a set number of cakes made per day best advice is to call the shop

How much does it cost per slice for wedding cake?

I am unable to answer that question sorry. Call the store and I'm sure they can help you

Who doesn't love Paris? Who isn't a fan of baguettes? And when you think of a great bakery, Parisian treats come to mind. Similar to 85 Degrees in layout and business model (grab room temperature sweets and savories what you want from cases), and coffee, cakes, slices in refrigerated cases. PB also has an extensive drink list made to order. However unlike 85 Degrees, nothing is restocked after opening. I came around 5pm on Sunday. The baked food cases were more than half empty gone. Same for most of baked goods along back wall, including cookies and bread. Their baguettes seemed fresh but lacked enough crunch that I like. PB also has prepackaged meals - sandwiches and wraps. Starting at $9, I'm not taking a risk buying potentially a mediocre meal given my dissatisfaction with the pastries. They have fancy sweets like Dubai Chocolate Mochi Donuts, and Orange Cronut. Raspberry Nutella Round Croissant. You've seen them, shaped like wheels. Mine tasted a day old. The raspberry filling was too sweet and thick. (Artificial) Crab Cake - Big with good crunch but tasted much better the first time I had it. Mixed with veggies. Almond croissant- An example of deceptively good appearance. While flaky, it didn't taste buttery or light and airy. And the almond filling just tasted sweet. No trace of almond. The space is big and pretty cozy. Tables outsides on both sides of the business. Kudos for having both customer and pick up parking spaces. I'm willing to give them one more try. My sweet tooth wants to think they sell a few good items.

I believe if you fail to redeem one of the rewards, you don't get emailed the succeeding rewards, kind of like missing the front end of a one-and-one, IYKYK. You have two weeks to redeem a reward. I had redeemed my first reward of a free slice of pie at the Long Beach location, and then I was emailed the next reward, which was a free starter with any purchase. Actually, I tried to redeem this at the Cerritos location, but they goofed at redeeming my coupon because they didn't realize it was dine-in only when they actually allowed me to order to go. Whoops! I went on a Wednesday at about 6:30 PM, which was kind of another Whoops because when I came in, I noticed a ton of seniors waiting in the lobby?! I was about to leave because I thought it was some type of special event reserved for seniors only, and I didn't see an employee for a good thirty seconds. Then, I saw Adriana behind the register, and I told her I was hoping to redeem my Bingo Bonanza reward while also asking her if there was a special event of some sort going on. Adriana mentioned that the special event was Bingo, which is held on Wednesday evenings at all Polly's Pies locations, though there will be nuances in how the games will be played depending on the manager of each location. The prizes were mostly eats, which didn't really interest me, but she told me I could dine in without having to play bingo. She took me to a dining booth in the middle of the dining area, but needed to wipe the table first. There were plenty of other tables in the near dining section, and the farther section was reserved for bingo. After Adriana set down a menu and silverware at the table, I studied the menu to see what I wanted. I've recently started to watch what I eat, so I tried to order the healthiest meal possible. For the starter, I went with the Southern Pimento Cheese Dip. For the any purchase, I went with the Avocado & Friends Sandwich. A few minutes later, Maria introduced herself to me as my server and set a pitcher of water down alongside a straw. I told her I was ready to order, but we seemed to have a communication barrier that I needed to clarify my question multiple times for her to understand. Like if I were a first time customer of Polly's Pies, I wouldn't have known that green beans or mixed vegetables were an option for a side to go with a sandwich; the menu simply said fries or coleslaw for no additional charge, and Maria initially said those two as well before I asked about the other choices. And even so, Maria wasn't sure what exactly was in the mixed vegetables, but once she named three of them, I was already sold lol. Right after Maria went to deliver my order ticket to the kitchen, I noticed that the straw I was given was shorter than the water pitcher. Adriana happened to be nearby, and I informed her of this sizing mishap. She apologized and went to fetch me a water cup. It took about 10 minutes before I was given the Southern Pimento Cheese Dip, and another minute or two afterwards, I was given the Avocado & Friends sandwich with mixed vegetables. The Southern Pimento Cheese Dip was pretty good! In addition to the dip itself, it comes with slices of cucumbers, carrots, and baguette, kind of like a mini veggie charcuterie board. The Avocado & Friends Sandwich, while tasty, was more like an Avocado & Too Many Friends Sandwich as I didn't taste much avocado in the sandwich, which was pretty much the reason why I ordered this sandwich! The sandwich can be ordered on white, wheat, sourdough, or raisin bread; I chose wheat. I didn't see Maria again, but Layla was the server making rounds around the dining area, and she was real sweet, especially to the elderly! She even checked on me 2 or 3 times during my meal. She was real fast, but that's also because she was the only server tending to the non-bingo playing customers. I had to show my email coupon to Layla so she could apply it on my check. It seemed Layla and Adriana had given me contradictory instructions on how to redeem the dine-in coupon, but I eventually went up to the front to pay for my meal. As I was finishing up my dinner, I overheard the manager running the Bingo game by announcing some of the prizes: Who wants Doublemint Gum?! Who wants Reese's Pieces?! Who wants Lifesavers?! They all sound good, but all sugary sweets? Or maybe the baked goods would be offered later that evening? I didn't bother to stay to find out lol. Anyways, it was a good enough visit to the Polly's Pies in Los Alamitos that I'm willing to give another star here. I would have given 4 on this visit, but since 2 and 4 don't average to a 4, I'm leaving this at 3 stars for now. Keep up the great work Layla and team!
