Beautiful setting, delicious meal, varied appetizing menu, reasonable price, and great value. Our server Wasa provided great dinner recommendations, and excellent service. read more
The place is definitely one of the better places to go to while in town. From the ambience, to the food, everything seemed to be well thought out. Service was good, food was exceptional, and if you're only dining for two, you might find it cheaper to get the normal sized steak with two sides. read more

I wanted some Bluff Oysters so we drove to Bluff to try some. Both the restaurants at the end of the road were closed. We started north and found Buster Crabb. They had oysters so I tried a half dozen fried. They came with fries and a salad. They were hot and lightly breaded. The oysters were nice and larger. Very good! We visited in March 2017 read more

We travelled here from North America on Jan 3rd and only to find out most restaurants we would like to go are closed. We called Buster Crabb and was very luckily to find out it is still open. However, the restaurant is 1.7 km away from our hotel and it would take us 20 minutes to walk there. We were received by a lady called TRACY, she made it very clear that she can only keep the table for us for 5 MINUTES! After explaining to her our situation of 1.7km away, she HANG UP directly on us without any explanation. This was incredulous and I honestly thought the line got disconnected. So I called again, after TRACY heard my voice, she HANG UP AGAIN before I could speak! Honestly speaking, I do not understand why she can wait for 5 minutes for us but not 15 minutes. This is clearly a popular restaurant I guess and some GUESTS JUST DO NOT MATTER FOT TRACY. In the end, my family think this restaurant is not worth visiting and we have decided not to go. read more
What a surprise Buster Crabb was, it was recommended by the hotel we were staying at, not understanding the history behind the name we were not expecting a gastro pub; the ambiance was excellent (partly due to the influx of people for the Burt Munro event and the excellent weather the day we were here) whilst the noise levels allowed for good conversations. The menu took a little getting used to, combining a newspaper covering the details of Buster Crabb's life intermixed with different parts of the menu... We missed the entrees entirely on our first reading. The staff were friendly we secured one of the last tables, though we noticed those who arrived afterward were shown to the bar to pass the time; we discussed some wines we liked and a price range we wanted tot pay and were offered a good recommendation. We all chose the seafood starter plate, however chose different mains; I had the mussels which were lovely, and my two colleagues had the salmon and the fish of the day; despite the generous serving sizes we all chose a dessert though none of us could finish it was worth trying everything though!!! read more

Amazing food, good service. Went in with a large group but everything was still out in decent time.

What a wonderful little find this was after a long day on the road! We had the seafood risotto, the farmer's lamb duo, and the chicken burger. Both the risotto and the lamb were great, and the portions are generous. The atmosphere is great - dim lighting, quiet chatter. The serving staff is very accommodating. read more

We didn't have a reservation, but they squeezed us in even when there were multiple large parties. I had the Seafood Taster (Chowder) and it was not bad. I also had the Au Natural Bluff Oyster Meal (salad + chips), and they were pretty tasty. My friend ordered the Siracha Bluff Oysters, and they were surprisingly good. Friendly staff, nice services. read more

The atmosphere is great, but the food is quite average. I have eaten here multiple times and have never had a great meal, despite the hefty pricetag. read more

Had my first decent cocktail in NZ here (dirty martini) and lovely dinner. Kind of posh place with bar and restaurant, great food - bit dear but well done. Spouse had dukka crusted blue cod and I had pasta of the day- both delicious. Nice drinks menu and good choice of starters and mains. read more
