Best bouquets in town! Very fresh and last a long time. I love working with these ladies!

A Disappointing Experience... Ordering flowers from a distance is already a challenge, and because Burst + Bloom does not have a website or any way to select specific designs, it's hard to know what you'll get. Their Instagram shows beautiful work, but it's not a way to place an order or pick arrangements. The Good: Over the phone the staff were polite, and I appreciated the same-day delivery. The Disappointing: The arrangement my friend received was nothing like what I requested. I asked for a blue and/or purple color palette (male recipient), which the staff I spoke with said was doable. I also asked to be sent a photo before delivery, and it sounded like she would. Instead, the delivered bouquet was entirely pink proteas with lots of heavy leafy fill -- not the color scheme or look I hoped to send. No photo was sent, so I had no chance to give feedback or let them know that was not what I asked for. The end result, a clunky pink arrangement. When I called about the error I was told they are too busy to send photos... hmm, that would be good to know before you take payment! Since delivery was within a mile they did waive the $25 delivery fee, which was appreciated, but I still ended up paying over $100 for something that totally missed the mark. Suggestion: Please provide more clarity and better follow-through for phone orders. Sending the requested photo would have taken a lot less time than me writing this review and would have resulted in a happier experience for all of us. read more

I was in the area for work, stopped in and was absolutely in love with the aesthetic, work, and selection. The arrangements are so quality, custom, one of a kind, and carefully built that most of the surrounding shops in the Carmel Crossroads had their own arrangements from Burst + Bloom. Everywhere you go there's a slice of this place and it makes a difference. Sweet Reba's, a pastry shop, had a display of hybrid of tulips that the owner was responsible for breeding herself. It's something out of a fairytale. Since I was working I couldn't really pick up an arrangement BUT there were mid century modern vases, planters and natural decorative items like drift wood that were so under my expected cost that I had to take something home. I wanted a bouquet delivered to my hotel for my wife's birthday. Asked for the bouquet to be around 40-50 dollars and she said delivery was $25, (one mile away) ouch. Which is fine. And when they do make a mistake they do not take responsibility for it, no refund, no follow up, no excuse. So sad to write this review as I love supporting local businesses. But unfortunately I cannot recommend this shop. I have had 2 negative experiences here. The owner is so terribly rude. I stopped by for a bouquet of flowers and felt like I was a nuisance. The door was locked and when I politely asked if I could come in to look at the lovely flowers she literally raised her voice and said, "No". I had to select my flowers from outside the store. There was zero kindness or gratitude. The assistant was helpful and the flowers were pretty. But not a fun shopping experience, I will be going to Safeway from now on for my flowers. wow what a disappointment! we met with them once since we were from out of state great first meet, spoke several times on the phone with good interaction but could tell they were busy. day of wedding after pictures and clear description were given my daughters bouquet looked nothing like the picture provided NOT even close right down to the wrong color ribbon. They did not handle it well but did attempt to "alter" it after clearly expressing they did nothing wrong. the sad thing is the time period was 4 1/2 months and only needing 1 bridal bouquet really not a big order folks. Would not recommend just get it from Costco or a sup market you will do much better read more

Where should we go get flowers? Our lovely friend Celeste recommended Burst & Bloom located in the Crossroads. For a second we were slightly bummed that the flower designers were not there on this lovely Sunday but we were warmly welcomed by Courtney who allowed us to create our own one of a kind creations with her help. It was our fault that we waited last minute for a floral arrangement for our Mom's Surprise 60th that was supposed to commence in 2 hours at Mundaka, that's how my family rolls... everything last minute that is. Courtney was such a blast to be around and we loved her joyful and fun loving personality. Twenty minutes later or so my sister and I left with two fun and exotic bouquets that were totally affordable (we brought our own vases so that saved us a little dinero). I would have glady paid double what we paid had a professional created it. No joke. I cannot wait to return to luscious Burst & Bloom. Beautiful sauce filled with good energy and the most exquisite and beautiful flowers, tree branches... foliage if you get my gist. I hope to make this a monthly event with my sister and from now on I would love to stop be here (when it is not busy of course) and create a little something to bring to parties as a hostess gift. I HATE to write a bad review.... But I've experienced something similar to the rest of the poor reviews. Lolo was referred to me by my wedding planner. We met about 3.5 months before my November wedding to go over my vision. She got it right away, had FANTASTIC ideas, and I left so stoked to have her as my florist. I gave her my budget of 6k and expected a proposal and quote within a week or so. A month went by, nothing. I called her and her or her assistant said they'd get it to me by the end of the week. 2 weeks went by without it, I called again, and so on and so on. Now... its TWO WEEKS BEFORE THE WEDDING, and after me, my mom, and my planner calling a few times we finally get a quote and its for 12 THOUSAND DOLLARS!!! I was completely shocked and panicked since we were literally 2 weeks away from the wedding. After immediately writing back saying this will never work, she said we could start paring things down. I was so confused and upset that if her version of a beautiful wedding cost 12k, my 6k cut down would have been less than amazing. I felt stuck, and I have to admit though Im sure it wasn't, I felt like it was on purpose because who can find a new florist in carmel, in busy season, right before their wedding. I ended up calling Darcy from Seascape flowers who had the day available and she KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK! I've been to 20+ weddings over the last few years and my flowers were far and away the best I've ever seen. She did it for the 6k and they were seriously perfect. Avoid the stress!!! read more

For anyone considering Burst + Bloom for their wedding, I beg you to heed the warnings in these reviews. I read them and thought "Oh, that won't happen to me. I'll make sure we communicate. I'll go out there and meet in person, then that will ensure everything is smooth." So incredibly wrong. If I could give them zero stars I would in a heart beat. I was planning my small wedding in the Carmel/Big Sur area from Florida and actually flew out there seven months before my wedding to meet with Lolo to get things started on the right track. First of all, I called to schedule an appointment weeks before the trip and the girl who took the message forgot to give the message to Lolo (or she ignored it) and I had to call back to even follow up and confirm an appointment. "No problem," I thought. Minor oversight. I go out to California and meet Lolo - everything seemed great! We sat down, looked at possible flowers, talked colors, talked prices, delivery and everything. It all seemed great! I was convinced the bad reviews were outliers. At the end of our meeting, Lolo said she would send me the final quote and the contract for me to look over. A month passed and I received nothing, so I called just to follow up and make sure she hadn't sent it and it was sitting in my spam folder (which I knew it wasn't because I was checking). She said she'd been busy and will get it to me tomorrow. No problem. Another month passes and I call back. Lolo says it's an employee's wedding that weekend and they've been swamped so she'll send it on Monday, Tuesday at the latest. Ok...fine. Another month passes and still nothing. I call ONE more time and she asks for both my work and home email addresses so when she sends it, I'll get it and it won't go to spam (yeah, whatever). And, of course, nothing. My wedding was a few weeks ago and I have still never heard back from Lolo. She completely wasted my time and my money - I flew from FL to CA to meet with her and for her to never call me back is so insanely unprofessional and rude. I have a feeling she's only in business for large, money-making weddings - so for those reading this - if you're having a small wedding, don't even bother calling them. Go ahead and call the other florists in town because you'll end up having to do that at the end anyways. Save yourself the headache and frustration and just call the other florists (I went with Twigery. They are SO sweet, super responsive and do an amazing job). Seriously, stop considering Burst + Bloom and redirect your attention and time elsewhere. I wish I had listened to all the warnings here. Shame on you, Burst + Bloom, for your horrible service. read more

LoLo and staff did an outstanding job for our daughter's wedding held Jan. 4, 2014 at Carmel Valley Ranch. She is exceptionally creative and had great suggestions and when I walked into the dinner room, it was a WOW moment. Beautiful flowers but not worth the headache!!! I tried to get a final price for 6 weeks before the wedding but got nothing Day of the wedding extra flowers that were not ordered were delivered. I called and said take them back! The week after the wedding I get a call asking for credit card information but still no total. I pushed for a total and it was much more than I had been quoted. Half again as much. Plus the delivery charge jumped to over triple what was quoted. And no one knew what had happened to my deposit. Lolo did all of the florals for my wedding last weekend in Big Sur. They were amazing! My design concept was not the most traditional, but she knew exactly what I wanted and executed my vision perfectly. I wanted something dark, moody, enchanting, and mystical. All I did was make a Pinterest board and she did the rest. She nailed the design concept and "feel" I was going for. She did everything: personals, tables, cake decoration. And it was all perfection. What a savior.. My original florist gave me flowers that were already brown and nothing like what I wanted the day before my wedding! So the wonderful crew at burst made me an incredible bouquet and matching boutonniere at the 11th hour. It lasted for over a week including my 5 1/2 hour car ride home to Orange County. Where do I start. I am eloping in a few days in Carmel. They came highly recommended by another florist who was out of town at the time I needed a wedding bouquet. I submitted a request on their website. Lo responded back very quickly, but that was the one and only time I ever heard back. I emailed quite a few times trying to get a response to no avail. I then called the shop and spoke to a woman named Courtney who informed me that they were very busy with Valentines day and that she would pass the message on to Lo and she would get back to me. I was more than understanding and let an entire week go by without hearing anything. My mistake. I then drove myself 100 miles to Carmel on a Sunday to try and confirm that I was indeed getting a bouquet on my wedding day. Lo was apparently off that day and Courtney was less than willing to finalize the details of my bouquet with me when my elopement was only five days away. She brushed off my concerns that I had not received a response from Lo. She told me she would let Lo know I came by and would follow up. Courtney did keep her word that she would follow up, but it was only to say that Lo was off and would call me the next day. I waited till 4pm the next day for a phone call (mind you this is now 4 days before I'm supposed to be getting married). I heard nothing. If you don't want my business I don't know why I am desperately trying to get ahold of you. I called Twigery and after a simple 5 minute phone conversation my bouquet was finalized and i'm all set for my elopement in a few days. I don't recommend burst and bloom if you want to deal with someone who is responsive and/or actually want to know you will have a bouquet on your wedding day. They need to learn how to run a business. read more

I'm pretty bummed out about my experience with Burst and Bloom for my destination wedding flowers. Long story short, there were several times where communication could have been much better. Weeks would pass and I would not hear anything back- either by email or phone. I worked as a professional wedding photographer for years so I tried to just keep giving them the benefit of the doubt because they came with a recommendation from my caterer but there was such a lack of communication for so long that I felt very uncomfortable for me. Once I broke off my plans with them they were very nice, pleasant, and understanding. The communication errors could not be explained. I would have bushed off all of it but it was not the first incident with them where I had to be the one who kept calling and emailing to try to get a response. After a while it started to make me feel like I was desperate to get someone's business who wasn't interested in following through with a contract. After 5 months of hunting them down, there still was no contract sent to me despite me asking for one repeatedly. Burst and Bloom were very nice to work with when I could get in contact with them. I think sometimes wedding vendors forget how much bride's have to get done too-- and need speedy responses and secured contracts in order to check it off the list and move on to something else. read more

We called a little late (one day prior) to order a corsage and boutonnière, but Burst and Blooms said they could accommodate. When I picked up the two items, I basically got some roses attached to some ribbon. My husband and I grew up in the Midwest, so maybe our idea of a corsage and boutonnière are different, but I remember my corsages being more extravagant and had a wrist band (unlike the corsage they gave me, that had loose lace that just tied around the wrist). I will admit, at first I was not too wowed by the flower selection here. However, there has been great selection lately, my boss especially loves the roses. LoLo is always willing to work with me, and offers great color matching. She also informs me what are the freshest cuts, and has even offered to fill vases for my boss if needed to save me time. The only thing is sometimes I drive out from Monterey to find the store temporarily closed...but since I am a weekly customer, I suppose I can always call ahead. We have purchased vases from here as well, I just wish they had a wider selection (but I suppose that goes per request with a smaller shop space). I must say I am enjoying flower arranging, and coming in to pick vibrant colors at a friendly shop that greets me by name (and plays good music). read more

I am not from the Monterey area, so everything I arranged with Lo and Burst + Bloom was via phone and email. I will say that in the beginning, I had a hard time contacting Lo (who I was referred to use by the hotel I was having my wedding ceremony at). After realizing her initial return call to me was while I was out of the country...we continued to play phone/email tag for a few weeks before I asked her to do my bridal bouquet. I sent her a pinterest found inspired bouquet and she delivered way beyond my expectations even after telling me some flowers had to be subbed due to the season, etc. For someone who had to do everything via phone and email (I was from OC and having my wedding in Big Sur), I would say the communication part of our transaction could have been paid more attention to, but overall my end outcome was perfect! So, for that I give them 5 stars. Ila and Lola did a great job on my flowers for my wedding cake and the rose petals for our wedding at Stewart's Cove in Carmel! I had to plan a destination wedding from Texas and had to put all my trust in vendors that were unknown to me and rely on Yelp reviews by other customers. They are out delivering a lot of flowers and unavailable to answer your call at times so I had to leave several messages but they always returned my calls in a very timely manner. Most within an hour or two of me leaving a message. So, as long as you know that going in you can plan ahead for additional time that may be needed to place an order or get consultation. I don't have my photographers pictures back yet of the cake but I have one a friend took to give other Yelpers an idea of what was provided. She was great to work with, understood exactly what I wanted, and I was blown away by the bouquet she delivered - it was even more beautiful than what I had in my mind. Even more impressive was that the cost of the flowers for the bouquet was less than what she thought it would be and she passed the savings on to me, coming in well lower than her original proposal.
