The thing I love most about Burning River is the community. Everyone is welcoming, friendly, and supportive. It makes training such an enjoyable experience. Throughout the week, you get to hang out with your friends and learn jiu-jitsu. What could be better? The facility is always clean and well-lit, with new mats and plenty of space to store your stuff while you train. There are several bathrooms and changing rooms with lockable doors. The office manager is always friendly and ready to help with whatever you need. Burning River has elite competitors, middle-aged hobbyists, and everything in between. When I train with higher ranks, they always take care of me and help me learn. And I make sure I pay that forward when I train with less experienced people. We have students of all backgrounds and walks of life. That's helped me become friends with people I might otherwise have never met. Burning River's great culture is a direct result of Professor Ante. He's a naturally gifted teacher and would have been amazing no matter what subject he chose. Luckily for us, he picked jiu-jitsu. I started Jiu Jitsu 6 months ago with my best friend not realizing the impact it would have on me and how much I would truly love it! I give a huge thanks to the incredible instruction of Ante and the best community that comes with burning river. The atmosphere is welcoming, with people who are there to support you through your journey, (I am a clean freak) and the gym is always very clean and sanitary especially on the mats which is so important. I've been training under Professor Ante for 5 years now, and I couldn't imagine training anywhere else, or under anyone else. I've heard stories about other gym cultures being toxic and unfriendly; however, my first day on the mats with Professor Ante felt like I had been learning from him for quite some time already. There's a high level of comfortably felt immediately, coupled with high level instruction. Professor Ante genuinely cares about the art, but even more so cares about his students.
