I sadly don't have a garden, but I love dropping in just to browse. They have a small outside section with a good variety of plants which vary with the season. It's almost like visiting an actual garden. Inside is also immaculately presented, with a small but good range of seeds, pretty pots, garden ornaments, etc. The staff are friendly too. I really wish I could go in for more than a few seeds for a window box According to their website they've been awarded Garden Centre of the year 2007 by the Horticultural Trade, in recognition of their innovative use of a small space. Can't be bad if other Garden Centres recognise how good they are! Their website is http://n1gc.co.uk/

In fact, it would be fair to say that my…read moremost successful gardening moment to date was aged 9, growing cress from a yoghurt pot with the rest of Primary 5. Recently however, I've had a revelation and I am now growing not one, but six (!) different herbs. Although off-put occassionally by rouge squirrels having a nosey, last weekend I successfully grew them to the height that repotting was required. Not up for treking out to one of the mega gardening centres, I was very pleased to discover that only 10 minutes walk away was the beautiful North One! This little garden centre is small but perfectly formed. As well as stock a range of pot plants and herbs, they have every type of seed, soil, pot and cane imaginable. Prices are however, a bit more steep than you would get in one of the chains. I was a bit taken a back to discover that a cute purple bench, just big enough for two but no more was selling for £250. Needless to say I left that one to someone that might be feeling a bit more flash than myself! Now I've put my gardening kitty to use I can safety assure you that Mr Mint, Lord Thyme, Miss Chives, Sir Sage, Prof Parsely and Queen Rosemary are looking better than ever! Four terracotta pots, soil, plant food, and a few other bits and pieces came to around £35. Ok, it's a bit more than I wanted to pay but the whole day was lovely. No long commute. No chain garden centre. Just a lovely walk around Islington followed by a day of getting my hands dirty. Perfect!

What started out as only a few cute plants, you know, just to "green up the place," has morphed into living room JUNGLE obsession. Oh, us silly Americans. Go big or go home. The good news is that this obsession led me to find Podington Garden Centre. Quite literally in the smack dab of nowhere, this place is gardener's playground! I only wanted two things: a couple of 60 lt bag of organic soil for my courgettes and tomato plants. I wasn't expecting to find gardening nirvana. I'm pretty sure Jesus would shop here. Firstly, this centre is absolutely gorgeous. You have to hand it to these Podintons, they love their gardening! The centre is big, but not Home Base gigantic, and the staff are knowledgeable and genuinely care about their products. I was also shocked to find that the Guinness World Record for Largest Garden Spade was on display! Not sure if it was on the local garden tour, but there it was! I took a picture as proof, too. http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/world-records/4000/largest-garden-spade Earlier in the day, I called to request a hold on two bags of organic soil. It may seem silly, but after two disappointing visits to Homebase (thanks LOADS you a-holes for lying to me with your BS reservation!) I wanted to make sure my soil was still there! When I approached the counter my soil was already on a trolly, with my name, patiently waiting up front. Seriously, that's service! HUGE KUDOS. My only complaint is, literally, how far away they are from Leamington. It also feels like you're traveling into the middle of nowhere, when suddenly, this place just appears! Absolutely worth the trip. I can't wait to go here again and buy more of everything!

It's quite small compared with some garden centres although there is a good range of shrubs and trees for sale outside. There is a lovely gift area that also sells foodstuffs such as home made jams, marmalades, cakes and old fashioned style sweets. It has a lovely oldly worldy feel to it. At Christmas time they also have a fantastic range of lights and decorations, although they are quite expensive compared with larger department stores that sell the same sort of things. There is plenty of parking just outside the centre and there is a lovely cafe inside. Well worth a visit even if you are just browsing.

went to smiths today!!!!!!!!!I had a great experience ,we needed to get some plants for the garden…read moreand we were really sucsessful today.I was really pleased with the experience today. There were thousands of plants in the garden centre, there were a lot in the inside area and an absolute abundance of plants outside. Also all plants were well kept and very watered, actually helped me keep cool in all this heat, they obviously take pride in each and every one of their plants. Also there is so much stock of everything(plants and non-plants).This has really pleased me as I've seen some garden centres which has hardly any plants and they are all neglected. However in this garden centre, they even have Christmas trees in June, but I suppose today(the day I wrote my review)is only 6 months till Christmas Eve!!!!!!!!!But I cannot see why you can't have a Christmas tree in June if you want to.I brought 3 small ones!!!!!!!!!Also I've been to garden centres in Christmas and they haven't had christmas trees. Also they were really well staffed as well, and our cashier was polite and even offered for someone to help us load the car. Also the smiths golf thing right at the back of the garden centre looks great and I'm sure will make a lot of money for the garden centre. Also their drive thru concept to collect soil was good and very well thought out,it's like a McDonald's drive thru but you show you're receipt to staff and then drive on to get the soil.Lovely experience!!!!!!!!

It offers an extremely comprehensive range of products. Staff in the outside area can be hard to find but there are knowledgeable staff available if you need advice as I did when selecting a fruit tree for my garden. The level of customer service is high, I was surprised to discover that if you buy a heavy bag of fertiliser or compost it will be taken to your car on an electric carrier! So all in all a recommended place to go for garden supplies and products.
