Entering it looks like I'm entering TSA. You have a fenced checkpoint to pass with the 7ft security guard. The store is in pure disarray. Messy as heck and I thought Ross was bad. Lots of items but nothing of brand. I couldn't find the pajamas anywhere at all. I check men's and did find some nice underwear for cheap. I searched and searched and still nothing. I looked all over for a worker and couldn't find anyone that was free to help. One worker was in the back of the store arguing with what seemed to be loved one on the phone. Purely too occupied to be of assistance. I decided to go to the more reliable place I could think of, the fitting room. Walking to the fitting room, I noticed a person tracking my journey across the store. The tall security watching me roam thru the store. Once I got to the fitting room, the worker was facing the wall. Before I could get within 19 ft she picked up her walkie to listen to a message and turned to greet me. Now obviously, she alerted of me arriving. I looked back over and see the security man with 2 other workers peering at us. I get the idea, that I was being suspected of theft. Here I am looking all over for these workers so I can locate Xmas pajamas and when they finally take notice of my need I am instantly called in their coms to be on alert. The is the one the worst case of cases of asset protection I have assessed in my 10 years of retail management. I went to just go checkout with the 2 items I found on my hunt but after standing in line for a min or so I had a thought. I was appalled and decided to leave. It wasn't worth the wait anyway. Walking out, I now see a team of 4 workers at the checkpoint. Now wanted to say something but looking at each of the individuals, it was clear they were all ignorant. They were Improperly trained and most likely inexperienced. Not their fault. I hope they do improve. read more

For the new store on Olive Dr, Bakersfield: Not enough cashiers, not properly trained cashiers. I paid cash and the cashier did not have three pennies to give me back, no other stores are having a penny shortage (I work in retail so I am aware ), if you don't have the change, then get it before you run out! Today June 17, 5:30pm for manager on duty. Said his name is Tyler. Young white dude. I let the male security guard know my grandma had to use the bathroom so he said he'll send someone over. Then I find out my grandma walked 2 stores down to use the bathroom at Lassens because nobody showed up to open the bathroom for her. When she asked them why they didn't send anyone over, the manager said he had no one to send and she said it was a rude encounter. Also, when my grandma was waiting by the bathroom one of the female employees came by and my grandma asked if she could open it. The woman just stared at her, then proceeded to ignore her and go into the employee room. My grandma described her as tall and slender. At one point she was working the security door area. I asked to speak to the manager and he claimed he didn't have enough staff. There were plenty of staff when I walked throughout the store so they must've forgot or just lazy. My encounter with the manager wasn't pleasant as well. An 80 + year old woman shouldn't have to do that or when I asked from the beginning, they should've communicated they couldn't instead of leaving her waiting. Photo included with the manager. Never have I experienced such poor treatment from a customer service employee that made me immediately run to go leave a review/call management. For NO REASON, this woman had a distasteful attitude and was so disrespectful towards myself and my DEAF elderly father from the moment we arrived at her register (#9). She was hiding her name tag so I asked to see it and she simply told me "it's Adriana." but who knows if she is lying. Burlington should consider terminating this employee who clearly hates it there and has no business dealing with customers when she is still learning how to be nice. Every time I would visit this store, I'd always receive excellent customer service, even the security guard was nice. The store is a little messy sometimes but it makes looking extra close for some gems worthwhile. The prices on some items are a little expensive but if you're looking for specifically baby items and knick-knacks, the prices are good. The layaway program is pretty cool and it's definitely nice to see that Burlington offers such an old school retail technique. Layaway pick-up day gives me the chance to see what new stuff they have! One star too many!!!!! I recently had an utterly disappointing experience at Burlington Coal Factory on California Avenue in Bakersfield, and it's only fair to share my honest feedback. After diligently selecting items, my enthusiasm took a nosedive when I ventured into the fitting room, only to find it unattended for a significant 10 minutes. When staff finally reappeared, their solution was to declare the fitting room "closed." Unbelievable. I requested to speak with Lena, the MOD manager on duty to question the logic of running a store brimming with staff, actively selling clothing, yet denying customers the basic courtesy of trying on their selections. The response? A dismissive shrug from the loss prevention staffer as the manager failed to respond. This establishment's customer service is nothing short of abysmal. It's baffling how a store can prioritize sales over the fundamental satisfaction of its customers. Save yourself the frustration; steer clear of Burlington Coat Factory. There are plenty of other stores in Bakersfield that value their customers more than this one. Not even going to mention the checkout line looped around the store, as one to two cashiers checkout customers, and 10 to 15 other staff stand around watching. This location is for the most part ok , but I pushed the button to the restroom and no one showed up so I found the manager and asked if she could get someone to open it for me and she told me to "hold on" and proceeded with her conversation and work with one of her employees for another few minutes looking over at me every once in awhile to make sure I was still waiting. I asked another worker who she was and they told me she was the manager. This manager Ana was so rude with the tone of voice and body language. Great way to treat your customers! P.S. They really have some good buys but they are hard to find when a store is very disorganized. There seems to be a lot of staff around but there are still a lot of misplaced items. The worst of all is having to stand in line for 20 minutes to return a single piece of clothing, given four counters were open on a weekday afternoon. They do not have a separate line for returns and purchases and I just do not know why it takes forever because when you walk past, there are some more staff at the counters - organizing? I don't know! If their dressing rooms have been open a day before - a Sunday, I would have avoided the situation of waiting forever in line. read more

Nice store that's similar to TJ Max where items are similarly discounted likely due to overstocked and discontinued items from brand names. This location has a rather large toy section. Apparel and shoes takes up most of the space inside and likely the key attraction for most shoppers. It also has specialized brands like Big and Tall. And fans of the Marvel and DC universe wall art rejoice! The store is somewhat disorganized but it's not as messy inside as it was long ago. I actually prefer shopping here than at Ross nearby in the same shopping center which is literally a mess inside. Customer service is satisfactory. The store name is somewhat misleading as I didn't see that many coats inside but maybe it's a seasonal thing. 3.5 overall shopping experience. read more

Customer service is horrible!!! Stood in line for an hour while about 40 customers were in line and only 3 registers were open. A few people asked if more registers would be opened and it never happened while I was in line. Burlington hire more workers and open more registers especially during lunch!!!! This Burlington is filled with SHADY employees and they will lie to you and hide items in the back especially HELLO KITTY, or anything that is remotely a hot item. They always have a frown on their faces and make you feel extremely unwelcomed and uneasy for even asking a question even when you ask nicely. Makes you not even want to shop here but it's the only store in town! The employees are too busy playing games so they don't have enough time to even clean up the store or aisles. It's always been a PIG-STYE here and now it makes sense. On 07/02/2024, it took over 3 hours to even get 1 hello kitty mummy blanket for my daughter and the one nice worker that brought it out had said they still had 5 in the back from that time, but FRANKIE was there and said only 1 was being brought out. SCUM EMPLOYEES, except for the nice worker who brought it out after other previous employees kept lying saying no mummy blankets were in the back. Now, that nice worker is a GEM and they know who they are. On 07/18/2024, one employee stated other workers actually hid the gray red bow hello kitty blankets and the pink car summer hello kitty blankets the day before on the 17th, so NONE were put out on the floor for ACTUAL customers to buy!!! And customers were asking in person on the 17th if any hello kitty blankets were available, but we were all lied to. These 'workers' sit around laughing at us and probably taking the blankets themselves to resell to capitalize off of all while buying them using employee discount. And you already know they kept all of the hello kitty fall blankets because I was unable to buy just one. Now you see the fall blankets for $150 plus on Mercari, Facebook etc. A change of staff is MUCH needed here. Take the TRASH out. Disgusting, vile, unprofessional low life behavior. read more

Burlington Coat Factory is a decent place to shop. Lots of selection of men's and women's clothes and shoes, plus some housewares. The prices are right, but expect to wait in line a little once you've found your bargains. For the men in particular, some of the clothes are last year's styles, but you can get good deals on shorts, jeans, casual shirts (even some funky/stylish stuff), dress shirts, slacks, etc. Great place to get socks and underwear cheap. C'mon, why not ? I haven't checked out the suits, or the coats for which they're so famous, but you can definitely spend less here than elsewhere. read more

Had a bad experience at this store tonight. Was in to get a pair of black pants but I wanted to try them on first. It was 4-5 minutes until they closed the fitting rooms. I knew I had time to try on the ONE pair of black plants I needed. I got to the fitting room and the older lady with glasses that's usually there and always in a bad mood puts her hand out in front of me in a "shushing" kind of way and I waited there for a awhile because I didn't know what was going on. I assumed she was listening to someone on a walkie talkie radio so I waited. She sees I have ONE thing to try on and I couldn't get a word in from her looking away while I wait for her to respond. All Of a sudden the intercom comes on 2 minutes earlier for announcement of the store closing in 30 minutes then ending with the fitting rooms are now closed. After that the lady looks at me with NOW a smile and shrugs her shoulders saying the fitting rooms are closed. I look at her puzzled and said " You had me wait her for a couple minutes before the announcement came on and then waited for the announcement to now tell me the fitting rooms are closed? This place is definitely my stop for baby anything!!! They have tons of baby goods. They have everything Babys 'r' Us and Target have but for way less. I got my crib here, it was sturdy and very nice and cheapest Ive found in town or online. Anything you want for a baby they have for some great prices. This store also has great home decore and lots of it. Blankets, pillows, doggie stuff. You name it. You definitely need to come at the right time . Weekday evenings or early mornings on weekends. I have never experienced bad customer service. The lines do get ridiculously long. The store can be a hot mess, but the store can't control the rude people who can't pick up after themselves. read more

I work close to here, so I've stopped in on my hour lunch. Every time I've ditched my items because of the long lines and slow checkers. When my baby was under a year I took her in here with me. I couldn't find a cart anywhere and it was hard for me to carry her around in her carseat. I asked someone if they had any carts so I could push her while I shopped. This is a great store to find some good stuff that is retail-priced elsewhere (like Kohls/HomeGoods from the brands I've seen there) but to be able to get in and out of the store when you KNOW what you're coming in for is ridiculous. I work a few doors down, and tried going there on my lunch HOUR. There was no way I could wait in line with 2 cashiers, a third walking back and forth taking their sweet time to fix said two cashiers issues on their system. My son needed some clothes for graduation. I wanted to go to Kohls on Rosedae because it was closer but he said his friends suggested Burlington Coat Factory. We were told there was really no teen section. Either find the slacks in the small section or in the men's section. After 10 minutes, my son decided on a black pair of slacks and a white dress shirt. We stood in line to check out. There was only 1 cashier. There 3 folks ahead of us and 7-8 behind us. It took 20 minutes to be waited on. When she got to the pair of slacks, she tells us she could not sell us the slacks because it came with a coat. Well, the slacks was by itself, and there was no coat / jacket. I told her we wont take the slacks. I dont see any reason why would anyone shop here. read more

I have to admit, after reading all the other reviews of Burlington Coat Factory I wasn't really expecting much. I really needed a new warm coat, so I decided to brave this place in spite of the warnings. BOY, was I SURPRISED!! First of all, the selection of coats was pathetic, but their selection of everything else was amazing! Burlington Coat Factory is a discount department store along the lines of Marshall's or Ross only a whole lot cleaner and more pleasant. They carry men's, women's, and children's clothing, shoes, accessories, baby gear, home decor and furnishings and more. The store was very clean and the merchandise attractively displayed. I found several dance tops for under $10, and several for $6. I couldn't decide on a pair of shoes; I was REALLY attached to a pair of super high skinny heels in red ;) but I had no idea what I'd wear them with so they remained in the store. I had really only planned a quick trip in here for a coat (which I left without) so I didn't really have time to comb through all the racks, but I think I'll try to make it back again to see what other bargains I can find and try to make it past the clothing department. I was there on a Saturday afternoon and the store was not very crowded - there were only three people in line in front of me. I found the cashiers to be both friendly (smiling and greeting me) and efficient. They really kept the line moving. She kept giving me a hard time and I knew I was smart enough to save the receipts!!
