Ruins of a medieval castle likely built in the 12th century or there about. I read that the French blew it up in 1690. There is still a lot here, the bergfried(keep?) has either been restored or wasn't hit too bad by the French...you can walk to the top and get a fantastic view of the Danau-kanal River up there. You can also tour the dungeon, and see the old cistern. A lot of the outer walls remain. There is a small opening near the cistern that is excavated, but is barred, and I don't know what it is. Possibly an undercroft. Sure looks interesting...
Not the easiest place to find, but there is a small sign off the larger road the leads you there on a smaller road. There is a 2€ Self serve fee you drop in a lockbox to enter over the old moat. I love ruins of castles, just loved this place...
Small parking lot behind a restaurant nearby, and then a short walk to the castle. read more
