    The vegetarian Champion burger
    Mel L.

We came here for lunch since they offer quite a few vegetarian burger options. I decided on the Champion burger while my husband opted for the Waldläufer burger. We also got a side of fries to share. My burger was pretty good. The sesame bun was toasted, so it provided a nice balance to the feta-olive spread that was covering that patty made out of mushroom/dried tomato. A slice of cheese would have been nice though. I also got to try my husbands burger and I LOVED that one. That fried egg created such a yummy combo. If I ever come back, I will order that burger. The fries were very good. Their special sauce was quite tasty as well. The service was friendly and efficient enough, considering that the place was very busy at the time.

Cool! I'm the first English review! I'm always up for a good burger and we stumbled across this place on our way back from a bus tour of Dresden. The menu outside looked promising so we went in. The decor is very modern and cozy. We were seated and immediately offered English menus. I can read German but having an English menu speeds things up and I don't have to translate for anyone else. The burger list is impressive. They go from plain hamburger all way to Bison. I looked through the offerings and the list of ingredients for each. The Chivito's mix of ingredients really caught my eye. Being 3 strips of beef fillet though, is it still a burger? I decided to go for it anyway and I also got a side of the home made red onion rings in beer batter. When the food arrived it looked great! After taking some pics I dug into the onion rings. Awesome! Definitely not some frozen crap with that horrible cornbread coating. No, these were perfectly fried, beer battered rings. The accompanying sour cream sauce was a perfect compliment for them. Then I got to the "burger". I was worried that the meat would be tough and that when I took a bite the whole strip would come out and the burger would fall apart. This was not the case the meat was so tender that you could cut it with a fork. It was very easy to eat and the flavour was phenomenal. My wife doesn't really like to much on her burger so she just got the cheeseburger. She let me finish hers off after she got full. One of my biggest complaints about burgers in Europe is that they are all overcooked. That was not the case with this burger. I could see that it was pink in the middle and I knew this would be a good burger. I took a bite and was rewarded with a nice, tender, juicy, flavorful burger that can only be had when the burger is cooked a perfect medium rare. Overall, this was a very good meal and experience. The wait staff was very pleasant and attentive. The next I am in Dresden I will definitely eat here again.

The burgers were ok. Nothing special. Partly because the waiter got our buns mixed up and so forgot to replace burger toppings. I did love the burger/bun variety they had and will return to try another one. Also I enjoyed the homemade lemonade that was sold.

Delicious burgers and salmon burger. Speciality drinks were great too. Staff was really friendly and accommodating to English speakers.

    Burger, cooked medium! Mmm!

Good service, not too busy there. Burgers were cooked well and great fries! Big drink menu and lots of choices for burgers.

Our server Andy did a great job serving half our table who spoke German, and half our table who spoke English only.

Hours: One macro level note, the hours for this restaurant are strange by U.S. standards. Lunch hours are restricted or not available on holidays. Midday is a food dessert where only cake is allowed. Dinner hours are limited. Very odd hours overall. If you're a Marriott member who is given a choice between the Euro 10 voucher and points at the hotel, take the points, otherwise expect to be frustrated by the randomness. Food: We had breakfast twice and snacks at the bar once. Breakfasts were decent. Just a buffet of average stuff you'd find in Germany including sausages, horrible bacon, runny eggs, cold cuts, yogurt, fruit, etc. We ordered some French fries at the bar, and they were pathetic. For Euro 6, the fries were not cheap, were soggy, and insanely over salted. Also, ketchup was Euro 3 for a tiny portion! Euro 3 for a condiment is absolutely insane! Service: Pathetic. At breakfast, expect to wait unreasonably long for coffee. At the bar, expect to be ignored for extended periods of time. Designing the bar to be part of the check-in counter was simply a stupid mistake from a service perspective. Also, the servers at both the restaurant and bar are simply sluggish and lackadaisical; perhaps the lack of service results from Germany being a semi-socialist state where tipping is not common. But this restaurant is worse than average for service in Germany and a downright service disaster by first-world standards.

NOTE: Breakfast i recommend - 4 stars. Dinner - 2 stars…read more This is inside the Gewandhaus Dresden Marriott autograph collection hotel. This is where you have breakfast. The hotel is lovely and the breakfast area is lovely too. The restaurant is located in the middle of the building so no close breeze from the outside when the door opens, but that also means the restaurant runs on the warmer side. Dinner: we needed a snack before our show at the Opera. We went to the bar and the bartender provided us a menu and then when we ordered, she said the kitchen was closed. What is up with giving me a menu and allowing me to look and then tell me the kitchen is closed. We asked can we order something and since we had Elite status I think they made an exception. She said the kitchen will make us French fries. We said okay. She asked did we want mayonnaise or ketchup. We said ketchup. The French fries arrived and they were real potatoes and they temperature piping hot but soggy. How do you mess up French fries? We had a 10 euro food voucher since we are Marriott Elite, we asked how much to see if we had extra leftover. The French fires were 6 euros but the ketchup was 3 euros. Really? 3 euros for ketchup! Bartender just looked at us and said sorry, now she should have told us PRIOR to ordering the ketchup would have been an up charge. Staff: it is very hit and miss on service. Nobody really stood out. Be prepared to hunt down an employee if you want a refill on drinks. The first day, we were given a carafe or water and coffee so need to ask for refills. But the second day, we had to ask twice to get a coffee refill. Breakfast: It is self serve buffet style, but to get drinks like coffee, water, juice, tea, you might have to beg for a refill. Order your drinks right when sit down because you might not see someone to ask for refills again. The breakfast offers typical eggs, bacon, sausage. The eggs don't taste like real eggs, they are just okay. But hot sauce or the mushrooms added on top makes them taste better. The sausage is delicious. There is a waffle station and i recommend them, they are very good. The machine has a button that you must push to activate the machine for the waffle to cook. A nice guest assisted me because I poured my batter and walked away. The waffles take 3 minutes to cook. You might want to add two cups of batter into the machine, there were empty spots in my waffle. The yogurt is delicious with added fruit and nuts. There is a real honeycomb that is nice fresh honey, but is can be hard to scoop.

After waiting a short while to order our drinks arrived quickly and our appetizers arrived shortly thereafter our main dishes must have been forgotten about as it was probably 45 min before they arrived(after we were finished with appetizers); someone else picked up our appetizer plates and then must have asked about our food because they delivered our chicken and fish n chips shortly after. Chicken covered in ham, tomatoes and cheese needed seasoning- salt and pepper could go a long way it seemed as if the ham, cheese and tomato was meant to season the chicken. Potatoes were well cooked and the salat on the plate i wasn't aware of when I ordered as I ordered a side salat as my appetizer, it was well dressed but had huge pieces of lettuce and cucumbers but nothing my knife wasn't able to fix. Hubby had fish n chips and was a bit surprised to see the skin still on the fish and batter was mushy on the inside including a few pin bones. Overall said it was okay. Doubtful we would come back here as there are so many places to choose from and while we understand European service is on the casual side of things we certainly didn't expect to spend so long here especially for a mediocre experience.
