Nice stop for lunch [Strasbourg, France]…read more We stopped by the restaurant for lunch. They had both indoor and outdoor dining available. The rustic wooden tables gave the place a unique look. Menus were accessible by QR code. Prices were decent, of course, a little higher due to the euro|dollar exchange rate. We ordered a couple of burgers. Smash Burger for my brother and Burger Fermier (Bacon Burger) for me. Both came with fries. The burger was a bit messy to eat, bun did not hold well but it was still good and tasty. Bacon was not like our bacon in the U.S. Service was good. Our waiter checked on us every so often but could not find him when it came time to pay. Atmosphere had a medieval feel. A little dark inside. Restrooms had dungeon type doors and it was dark. I guess that's how it was supposed to be designed. Overall good experience. Caupona means "tavern" in Latin. The bar was cleverly designed to match the theme of the restaurant. Review #4071

This spot was well rated on some review sites such Yelp and Google! It's just across from the canal and easy to find! We ended up trying a couple of local favorite items: traditional mushroom and ham tartes flambees along with a salmon tartes! Both were delicious and worked well with Alsac wines! Apparently they are known for their burgers but we wanted to stick to local foods which are often not available at home in US or not as delicious. Overall a very fun and vibrant spot with good food!

We were immediately seated at our table and a waiter took our drink orders while we looked over the menu. Beer for me, Alsatian white wine for my friends. Dinner all around. Fish and chips was a good portion of fish with a massive pile of crispy chips. A tarte with cheese and bacon. (And if you don't know, a French tarte is basically a flatbread pizza.) Bacon and cheese spätzle (basically, mac and cheese with bacon). We were all about the carbs tonight and it was all delicious. Lots of food, all easily shareable and the service was excellent. I don't know how "traditional" Alsatian this is, but it was yummy. We were here for close to two hours and at no time did we feel rushed. Online menus made it easy to order in English and everything turned out quite well. [Review 16428 overall - 63 in France - 1936 of 2021.]

Even though it is a small place, it looks more like a restaurant than a fast food joint and the quality of the ingredients combined with the Hamburger knowledge of the staff are going to make it a popular place amongst Hamburger Fashionistas in town. I tried their El Gringo and Batave Burgers and both were excellent. I, however, customized my El Gringo order, replacing grilled onions with fresh onions and adding bacon. I must say that their Cheddar was excellent as well as the beef patties. The buns were a bit over grilled and the lettuce not what you would expect in a hamburger but overall it is very likely the best Hamburger option in town. My only comment would be that their hamburgers tend to border on the French side of Burgerdom and in my book, when it comes to hamburgers, I would say that the more classic and more American the better!

This isn't a grease burger dive, its an exquisite delicious really well prepared burger joint, and if you like burgers this is the place to go. Although the only down side to me is the service, there is usually one person who is the host and the server, they use an ipad to take your orders and are never friendly, and dont usually check back to see if you have everything you ordered/ are satisfied/ need another beer or more ketchup. For dressing up a burger joint so much, I do expect a better server. But when you have such good food it can be forgiven.

Ample outdoor seating, on the river, provides a window into the hustle and bustle and sightings of people ambling, crossing bridges, and boating, while you lazily enjoy the weather and company.
