One Plus Piece is not what you'd call a typical Balwyn cafe, and is more what might be seen in a…read more"hipper" neighbourhood. The decor is simple and as expected from the description on its webpage is inspired by the manga One Piece. Artworks and small manga artifacts abound and it is certainly entertaining to observe how they have been placed through the cafe. It's an amazingly quirky place and certainly entertaining and clever. The menu is broadly divided into breakfast/brunch, burgers and poke. My companion and I both ordered poke bowls, which can be varied by the addition of brown or white rice, or coleslaw or quinoa/kale. We tried both the salmon and spicy tuna, me the spicy tuna and my companion the salmon salmon (they call it that on the menu). Presentation is very good, the ingredients fresh and tasty including pickled seaweed, edamame and avocado and more. Though the tuna poke is called "spicy" those who are not so keen should not be put off as it's quite mild and a different touch tempered by incorporation of creamy mayo. The salmon bowl is beautiful to look at. The salmon was as fresh as a daisy and all ingredients on the menu were there including lovely thin slivers of bean curd which added fantastic texture. The bowls were really enjoyable. Though we didn't try the burger selection it is extensive, and from observation those served at other table were equally interesting to look at. We also saw an ice cream sundae delivered to another table and it looked incredible. I'll have that next time. Nice touches include ice cylinders (instead of cubes), and sparkling water served with the long black coffee ordered after the meal. The courtyard area out the back is lovely. It's well worth going out there on a nice day. One Plus Piece is certainly well worth a visit. Service is prompt, presentation excellent and the dishes we tried were well prepared. It's quirky in a way not expected in Balwyn and that's a good thing. Our thanks for the kind invitation to dine here. 4.1

I watched One Piece growing up and this cafe has such a creative twist to it! Love the decorations,…read morehowever the food was leaning towards the oily side (this is what lost points for me). There are always heaps of people so the last time I came here I had to line up for 30mins for a table. Other than that the servings are huge! If you love burgers, fries, milkshakes and One Piece, this is a must try!

A wonderfully whimsical old school tuck shop with a new school twist!…read more I was a big fan of the burgers, but they also have a delightful selection of baked goods (helloooo dougnuts and freakin' redskin chocolate brownies!). They also do milkshakes that come in an amazeballs range of flavours including NUTELLA and SALTED CARAMEL (allcaps added for excitement)!! The team behind Tuck Shop have some serious fine food chops that include The Fat Duck and Attica, so you know you are in for a treat. They keep the offerings simple but of such a high standard, I ate myself into discomfort because I wanted more!

The…read moretiny (and it is TINY) space has been so well put together with lots of interesting bits and pieces to look at. Love it. First things first - the burger. One meat and one veggie option, so keeping it simple, which I love. The meat option is excellent and great value at $10 (extra $2 for bacon which is a bit steep for one tiny bit of bacon, but it's with including). Burgers are cooked so they are pink in the middle and it's an excellent, tasty burger. Chips are ok, a bit greasy and drowning in oil, but tasty. Drinks are overpriced... But also excellent. We had the mintie milkshake and wow it was good. Not cheap at $7 a pop. But good enough that we would try another flavour next time. Fantale perhaps?! I had a raspberry soda and while it was super delicious it was quite small and $4.50 was pretty steep. We will be back again, but a lost star for the price of drinks. The jaffels looked amazing so the cost won't keep me away though! Well worth a visit if you're local.
