I visited the Berg Teck on an afternoon between research meetings in Stuttgart and Holzmaden. The weather was hot (~32°C) but my trip to Berg Teck was great nonetheless. There is free parking at the end of the road up from Owen; there are also picnic tables in the meadow next to the car park. The castle itself is a pleasant 30 minute walk along a forested gravel drive, but the is all uphill, sometimes steeply, so be warned. However, even on such a hot day, I found this lovely to go through the designated nature park, and it was not too hot in the shade at all. There are many paths going of the main drive to other places and around the Teckberg itself.
At the top is the Berg; a ruined castle, but with rooms and a bar/restaurant. I didn't try either so cannot say anymore about them. The views are spectacular across the Schwarzer Jura to the south, and moth to Stuttgart and Göppingen etc. To the south side can be seen Bissingen. I'd recommend a visit to the Sybellenloch, a cave underneath the castle, and see how far to dare to in. While I only had a couple of hours to explore, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Bring drinks, and a picnic for a long day out, or just head to the restaurant for an afternoon drink or evening meal. read more
