Prepare for a long detailed review. They are worth it!!…read moreDuring my long exstensive divorce...I found my circumstances were much more severe than expected. I reached out to a retired Knox Co. judge informing him my current dissatisfaction with the enigma of my case and previous attorney (NOT Luke) and the outcome of our future. The judge encouraged and edified Luke Shipley as the best and most qualified to get me the outcome that I needed for the protection and safety of my daughter and I. I hired Luke who at the time was with another law firm. I quickly noticed he was doing far more exstensive research, work, and digging then what was recorded on the law firms invoices. The complexity of my case was heart breaking and confusing. The paper trail alone was enough to cause high anxiety but not for Luke. Luke was fluid in his knowledge and expertise of the law able to stay ahead of the opponent. He brought in his powerful wife who was able to shed light on the criminal aspect of the case. I was beyond thankful when Luke and Megan began their own practice. By this time, Luke had already fixed the mess the previous attorney had made and began helping me undo all the emotional and mental control from my ex by shedding light on the truth and going to bat for me. He defended me, my daughter, and the law. Luke and Megan's code of ethics and financial practices are honest, hard working, and for the good of their clients. No one wants to go through the pain and loss of divorce...but when you do, it's GOOD to have attorneys who fight for you, listen to you, and understand you. Luke stayed balanced, informative, and was able to look at every angle to see what would protect us and secure our future while doing what was honorable and right according to the laws of TN. If I ever need an attorney again...Luke Shipley and Megan Swain will always be the attorneys I go with, recommend, and forever respect. Thank you both so much for the peace you've given to this mama's heart. I'm eternally grateful. It you need an attorney, no question...Hire "Shipley & Swain." They will care for you selflessly and respect your money. They will do what's best for you and all involved.

But my experience with Kris Frye was quite the opposite. Very professional, knowledgeable and responsive. I encourage everyone needing legal counsel on will or trust or deed issues to seek out Mr. Frye's counsel for rapid and thorough results. He handled my fathers estate perfectly for us and really set my family's hearts and minds at ease.

We met with Kris for our first consultation. We explained our needs and Mr. Frye said he would get back to us with a solution. After two week had passed and no communications with the Ford and Nichols law firm I decided to call them. Of course Mr. Frye was not available and I was told he would return my call. At the end of the day a lady named Abby called me from the Ford and Nichols firm. She had informed my that Mr. Frye had not done anything with our will/trust because he was so busy and would not be able to get to us for a few weeks. It was at that point we decided to fire Mr. Frye and the Ford and Nichols law firm. Mr Frye did not have the professionalism to let us know up front how busy he was and he did not show us the respect of calling us personally. He passed that on to a subordinate employee. I would not recommend the Ford and Nichols law firm for any legal assistance or for that matter any assistance. Maybe they only want the large money making accounts?

I witnessed first-hand his positive rapport with local judges and other attorneys in town for being knowledgeable, ethical, and tireless in his pursuit of justice. Danny and his paralegal, Carolyn, work seamlessly as a team to ensure i's are dotted and t's are crossed on the mountain of paperwork required throughout the process. This included staying on top of petitions, counter-petitions, multiple contempt violations, hearings, depositions, interrogatories, and countless records entered as evidence during the trial. They both went far above and beyond my expectations in helping me to obtain a favorable outcome for both custody and child support. I truly became friends with both of them throughout the nearly year-long court battle in a very high-conflict co-parenting situation. My daughter's father hired an extremely aggressive lawyer, and together they used every trick in the book to attempt to intimidate and bully me into submission. Danny encouraged me not to back down and gave me the confidence to keep fighting for what was best for her. Danny and Carolyn had my back unconditionally, coaching me through every step with empathy and patience. I now have the parenting time I will need to try and undo the trauma that has been inflicted upon her. As my review hopefully demonstrates, I cannot recommend Danny enough.

The most unethical attorney on the face of the earth…read more Supreme Court Affirms Public Reprimand for Knoxville Attorney's Professional Misconduct August 10, 2017 The Tennessee Supreme Court has affirmed a public reprimand for Knoxville attorney Danny C. Garland, II, based on his professional misconduct. In 2014, the Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility filed a petition for discipline against Mr. Garland. The petition alleged, in part, that while handling an adoption case, Mr. Garland failed to communicate appropriately with his clients, failed to exercise reasonable diligence in his representation, and committed professional misconduct. A hearing panel found that Mr. Garland had violated the Rules of Professional Conduct and recommended that he be publicly reprimanded. The hearing panel considered his misconduct in handling the adoption case, his prior disciplinary record, and his experience in the practice of law. Mr. Garland appealed to the Knox County Chancery Court, which affirmed the hearing panel's decision. Mr. Garland appealed to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court affirmed the judgment of the trial court. In an opinion authored by Justice Sharon G. Lee, the Court held that Mr. Garland failed to keep his client reasonably informed about the status of the adoption case, failed to promptly comply with his client's requests for information, and failed to act with diligence in his representation, thereby causing a lengthy delay in the resolution of the adoption. In particular, the Court found Mr. Garland's firm policies, practices, and procedures for communicating with clients and monitoring case files to be ineffective. The Court upheld public censure as an appropriate sanction for Mr. Garland's professional misconduct. In a dissenting opinion, Justice Holly Kirby determined that the Board of Professional Responsibility should have proceeded against Mr. Garland under the rules governing a lawyer's supervision of and responsibility for the conduct of his nonlawyer staff. Because the Board failed to do so, the hearing panel did not make the proper findings for review by the Supreme Court. To read the majority opinion authored by Justice Sharon G. Lee and the dissenting opinion of Justice Holly Kirby in Danny C. Garland, II v. Board of Professional Responsibility, visit the Opinions section of TNCourts.gov.
