i was trying to get a particular item that seemed to be special order only. A girl called Edie helped me and it seemed difficult to find this in the state. she then found one of the item only at Fairfield, called them to confirm it was there and has had it shipped to port melb for me to pick up next week. My local Bunnings. Despite renting, there's always some little thing that needs done. Kids marked up the wall, want to get a few hooks to hang a picture... always something. For being one of the smaller Bunnings, they do have pretty much everything. I also find their customer service seems to be a little better too. Do not order online from Bunnings. I realize everyone is having difficulties in a post-COVID world but it's not like Bunnings is new to online ordering. I made an order and even though the website said the items were available, apparently some of them were not. They sent me an email saying they were cancelling the unavailable items but I did not see that email before they shipped the remaining items. The items that I ordered go together. So now I have only some of the items which are useless to me without the other items. I wish they would have called or texted me to inform me items were not available. If I would have known that the items were not available I would have cancelled the entire order. Now I'm told I cannot return the items until quarantine is over and people can enter the store again. Bunnings is Australia's version of The Home Depot or Lowe's (back in the States), but BIGGER! (At least from the Depots and Lowe's' that I've been to.) Without doubt this hardware store is stocked to the brim with pretty much anything you'll ever require for home improvement. And, too, the variety of indoor/outdoor lighting fixtures, outdoor patio furniture, barbecues, and the like, are much more diverse and stylish than what's found back in the States. Naturally, for me, if there's a garden center, I'm like Ulysses being lured by the song of the Sirens...! I haven't done my research, but I deduce that Melbourne's foliage is sub-tropical (maybe similar to San Francisco), as there were a good amount of Japanese Maples for sale; exotic, tropical plants were scarce. The garden center was well-stocked, esp. with spring rearing its floral head forward.... I'll be making a lot of trips to Bunnings, that's for sure...! :D read more
