At the Horsham store I always feel as if I'm being carefully stalked in case I pocket something without paying! This is both hilarious and insulting. So often, I turn to move to something else and I see an assistant quickly try to move back from his stalking pose, almost overbalancing as he leans around the front of an aisle. This runs through all the assistants. Whether you looking at and trying to imagine how a 50mm bolt will fit something, or whether you are looking at something more expensive, the same 'campaign' operates. This leads on to me feeling that the staff don't like me . or jointly suspect me which makes me avoid the shop.

Maybe the staff are not so fortunate and substitute my outlook with theirs.
All that said, WHEN I've managed to chat the ESTABLISHED staff, they've been helpful and useful. However, next time I go in, there is still no recognition and the same regime perpetuates, still no smile.
Oh well, it's their shop and its business model is distinctly jaded. I'm beginning to think that this, and the points above will lead to its ultimate demise. After all, we do have Screwfix in town. All so quick and easy and no nonesense with it plus so often at 50% of the price. read more
