Bulk Barn carries a wide variety of bulk and hard to find food items. I was especially interested in their health food selection.

Incident happened on Friday April 15 at approximately 1300…read more I walked to the No Frills grocery store with my dogs. There was a male begging for money/food outside the store. I tied up my dogs by the carts and went into the store. The man asked for food as I was walking in as he stated he hadn't eaten for 3 days. I bought approximately $37 worth of groceries. As I was leaving, a woman I later learned was named Amber was on the phone at the window next to the exit of the store. If I have her name wrong, I apologize, but she was wearing a No Frills jacket and refused to give me her name.  I asked her if my dogs were barking. She indicated there was a man begging for food for his dogs. She then went on to say she had phoned the Humane Society on this man and his dogs. When I indicated the dogs were mine, she noted I should not have left my two 8-year-old border collies outside of the store to go in to get groceries. She then proceeded to berate me for leaving my dogs outside while I shopped. I want to reiterate in this letter that I have no connection with this man that was begging outside the store. The dogs were mine and I tied them up outside the store at the end of the carts when I went in to get groceries. I was in the store for less that 15 minutes. I want to know: 1) What is your policy about pets being left outside the store? 2) What is your policy for treatment of homeless people or people with mental illnesses? Over the years, my husband and I have bought many thousands of dollars of groceries from this store. We have lived south of this No Frills and have experienced it change from OK Economy to Extra Foods and now to No Frills. I feel affronted firstly that I was challenged for buying groceries for anyone. If I want to buy a banana at this store and feed it to the birds, that is my right. The same goes for me giving groceries to anyone I want. When I told Amber I had bought this male food, she told me, "Great. You are just adding to the problem". I find her attitude towards me abrasive and her attitude towards this man offensive.  Her attitude certainly does not involve compassion nor any thought towards mental health. She certainly has no business telling anyone what to do with their food that is purchased at that store. The last thing I said to Amber after demanding an apology and not getting one is I will not be back. Amber's response was "Good". Is this how you want the people that work at your stores to talk to their customers? Bevera Allan
