    Lingold

On a day trip with my stepson we decided to go to Monroe WA to try some of the small breweries they have there. Bugu was our first stop. This place is awesome! They have some very different and delicious beers on tap. If your a beer drinker go give them a try, you will not be sorry. No food available, they do have local menu's you can order from. I did a flight and it was all delicious. I really enjoyed the Lingold. It is a little tart, but not sour. I really enjoyed the flavor. The staff is awesome and friendly, and it is a great story. The do have at least one IPA and Hazy on, but as I said, it is very different from most of the breweries I have been to. Go try them out!

    The Gem State Cream Ale!

Wow, this is an awesome new brewery that opened up in Monroe! Easily my favorite one on the couple of stops I made in town last time I was here. With Bugu Brewing I had four different beers this time with my beer experience here. The first one I had was my favorite. Sang Froid was the first one up that I tried. This beer was a pilsner. A French Pilsner to be specific. This excellent pilsner had a great clean, crisp and dry flavor complexity to it. Very different than most pilsners I come across and I simply loved it! After that I had a small pour of a cream ale they also had on tap. The Gem State. This was a cream ale with notes of huckleberry, wildflowers and just a hint of cracker. It too was good. I enjoyed the beers so much here that I bought two cans to take home and for Steve to try out this brewery via at home. Our first beer together was the Blok Hut. This was a Farmhouse Saison style beer with floral and tart flavor features. A very good saison! I haven't had one quite this good for some time! The last beer was another cream ale but not like Gem State. McSchmeezy was the cream ale we both enjoyed together. It had a wonderful creamy flavor with a little bit of a cracker flavor to it to go along with the creaminess. Very good beers from this brewery and I would love to come back here again for sure whenever I'm back in town!

Fun new place in Monroe! My favorite was the Big Bopper stout, and they also had a seltzer and cider on tap. Something for everyone!

We ordered the $35 clam orzo and the $54 New York steak medium rare. The New York comes with no sides. $54 is the price for the steak on its own. They don't have a menu of sides and we weren't asked if we wanted any sides with it. The "New York" that we got was literally just a chunk of fat with maybe 5 bites of meat on it. It was literally cold and still blue, so rare. It had barely been put onto the grill. The flavor was bland, like a cheap steak you'd get at buzz in. Definitely not a $50+ steak and was not cooked appropriately. The clam orzo looked promising. Huge portion and smelled delicious, but I took one bite and it was so salty I couldn't eat it. Literally tasted like the salt container fell in it. They did end up refunding us for the steak and the orzo. We paid for our drinks, the calamari and left hungry. Still ended up paying $50 (plus a $10 tip for our nice waitress) for an appetizer, two bottled IPA's and one rum cocktail. Also worth mentioning that the tables are very close together. It felt like we were eating with the strangers next to us. Our seat on one side was a shared bench with other guests and it was very loud, not a problem unless you want to have a semi private conversation. So disappointing after waiting years for a toddler free night to visit this restaurant.. I'm not sure that we will be back. If we do, we will likely visit for the bar and appetizers.

Our destination was the Route 2 Taproom, as it sounded interesting, and we've never been. We arrived, and it was what we were expecting, a very nice indoor seating area with quite a few tables, and a very nice outdoor patio. We chose the patio, which had a self service walk up bar. Just made it convenient and you didn't have to wait for someone to come to your table. My wife chose the fish and chips, which you'll see in the photo were very abundant, and cooked very nicely with a modest amount of fries, in my opinion, I would've liked more. The flavor was really good. I chose the chicken wings, which I was told I could pick multiple flavors, I chose the sweet chili, and the lemon pepper. Really like the sweet chili, the lemon pepper... well, was much too lemony. The beer selection here was quite extensive, we chose one of the lighter session IPAs, which was quite good. Overall, the staff was very friendly, engaging, and did a great job of taking care of everybody while we were there. I will definitely go back when I'm in the neighborhood. Thank you

I happened to visit on a Saturday afternoon with live music which added a ton to the experience. Plenty of easy parking, a food truck was present when I visited, there's a coffee stand in the parking lot, snacks/non alcoholic drinks available for sale inside. Lots of room both inside and out, a large outside area with a couple fire tables and an actual fire pit, some plastic axe throwing and other things, tons of room for dogs and children. Some of the outside area was covered for those days when you want to be outside at a fire table but the weather disagrees. Lots of beers to choose from but also a distillery on site with a separate room and cocktails available for purchase. This room has a fancier decor and is 21 plus if you want to be away from those with children. I guess Glory Bucha Kombucha is also being brewed on site. They were out of the blackberry pale beer when we visited, but plenty of other tasty options on tap. Sounds like they also have a connection with a winery and a cider company. Multiple people behind the bar is also a plus. My only complaint is that a place this large could use more than 2 bathrooms. I'll definitely be adding this to my Snohomish rotation and hope to be back again soon. Fingers crossed I can snag a fire table next time.
