I wouldn't say this is much of a vintage store as opposed to it's original intent of being just a thrift store. Some ok finds I guess but there aren't any true gems per se. I found a pretty sweet Smiths shirt but it was too small for me. In the very small vintage section I found a cool Rayon Chinese robe for eight bucks. Since it's time for Halloween, I skimmed through their costume section and saw a few decent ones that were inexpensive. Other than that it's an ok place with moderate findings. Staff really friendly while they go through the clothes you bring to sale and as they pick and choose what they want they continue to be nice but not taking half of what you bring to sale. There clothes are priced way to high to be 2nd hand clothes and Parking is terrible. They are a glorified Salvation Army/ Goodwill store It was a waste of my time and gas and I have advised my my friends that were on their way not to make that trip and to meet me at Goodwill store where your donations are wanted , appreciated and nothing is refused. So unless your clothes you selling are new and brand name don't waste your time. read more

Not impressed at all. The clothes I saw for the most part looked like stuff from a garage sale. The men's stuff was especially bad. I also tried to sell a couple of leather coats. One was from the 70s, ladies wrap coat with a fur collar. They wanted to give me like $7, but I saw other people selling CRAP and getting like $4 for a crappy worn t-shirt. I don't mind gently used but some of this stuff was on it's last leg. The vintage store across the street is way better. read more

This location would be one I would come to more than the Costa Mesa one which was way closer to me considering I lived in Costa Mesa. It is a little bigger than the one at the lab and overall I have found so many amazing gems, I wouldn't even know where to begin. This location is big and as far as buying items, they can be like most of the other locations in CA [or at least Southern California]. Meaning they don't buy a lot of the items you have even if you spend a lot of time going through all your items so that they don't waste your time and you don't waste theirs. It can be items you KNOW that they would sell and they are in mind condition, you are sometimes in better luck selling your items on ebay or craigslist because I have waited in lines for hours to only be told that I had some really good items but they weren't buying anything more at this time, but to bring them back in like a month. It made sense when shopping and barely being able to move through the hangers because the racks are so jam packed, but it really ticked me off that they wouldn't just not tell people they were buying because I wasn't the only person that they had wasted an afternoon of. SO, while selling to these people, or considering it, use discernment. I have gone through this experience at many of the locations and sometimes when asking how much longer the wait will be, I have been told only 15 minutes, only to still be waiting an hour later. You can however drop off your items at some locations which they don't like a lot of people to know about. The upper hand you have if you are there while they go through your items is that you can see them go through every piece and then ask questions or hear what their excuse *cough* reason is for not taking that item. They may say something like, "this would be a perfect item we would buy in fall" even though they all sell all types of seasonal clothing at each location particularly because they are separated and sorted by the areas. For purely buying clothes, they always have something you will fall in love with. I have found some amazing deals and then I have found some pieces that are way overpriced so you'll just have to use your thrifting wisdom and decide for yourself what is worth spending what on. Overall I love Buffalo Exchange and think they would do so well in so many other states, not sure why more haven't opened! It seems like a lot of the locations I have been to [which has been a ton] have been overflowing with clothing. It seems like they have more clothing than they can take in, so opening more stores would be a wise investment. read more

I felt like they treated me the seller like a 2nd class citizen & had no regards for my time. I waited an hour for help and noticed they would stop what they were doing to help the paying customers. Since we were there to sell we were not of big importance ... They had a total of 5 employees and only one person assisting the sellers. I really hope someone competes with them because there way of doing business can be improved on by someone else. I've never heard of someone turning down my donation because they were to full, obviously they don't donate to enough organizations, because to say you have enough already is laughable. read more

Comfortable shopping environment, everything is organized. We couldn't find a lot of clothes that we liked (i think it's just us). I got my sunglasses from here. I like them! After we left, my sister realized that a sweater she got was way too tiny. We went back, didn't get any odd stares and weren't followed by suspicious workers thinking we're back to 'jack some more stuff'. There's no cash refund. Exchanging items can be a bitch. First they "GIVE" you back your tax money. They write you a gift certificate for the item that you want to exchange. AND THEN 'pretend' that you're using your gift certificate to buy the item you want to exchange it for. Took awhile, but the lady was really nice about it. read more

i despise the workers here. i've gone a couple times and every time the staff were snobby, rude, or bothersome in anyway, i'd brush it off. but really the last time i went, i didn't realize my license was expired and this staff member that was helping me, said so loud that i'm sure people in the back could hear, "i'm sorry, the system isn't taking it, you have to leave." it made me feel guilty, like i just broke a policy. honestly, go to uptown cheapskate because they're right down the street AND they're workers are super helpful and amazingly sweet. they may take your items for less money but the experience will beat any over this place. read more

It's aiiiggghht I guess. Selling on a Saturday here sucks - expect to stand in line for like 20 minutes before they reject 95% of your clothes. I've looked around at their merch, but then I get kinda ticked off because they took some really ordinary, crappy stuff and passed on my infinitely cooler stuff (jk! sort of....) Sometimes there's a good find, but it's usually a little higher priced than I think it's worth. People here are really nice though and they're a decently sized Buffalo. I stopped by here with my boyfriend just to look around (we were in the midst of a mid-afternoon sunday stroll). I must say that the atmosphere here isn't as awkward and pretentious as the one in Costa Mesa. I remember visiting that one and I just kinda wanted to leave cause I felt like I didn't belong/ part of the usual crowd. This one doesn't have that alienating vibe. We just kinda looked around. Not quite sure what happened, but somehow this Buffalo Exchange location is filled with Forever21 finds from seasons ago. Other than that, if you search hard enough, you will find some cool, unique items. If you are selling really nice/elegant designer items you're likely to be disappointed as they tend to focus on what I call junk. The big catch though is that if they do buy something they only pay 30% in cash and the balance in store credit. So they create a revolving door by buying your junk and then forcing you to buy their junk. Oh, and there is little to no parking so you'll have to schlep your stuff in from some distant parking spot and then there is a very strong chance you'll have to take it all back with you. You're better off donating to a worthy non profit and take the deduction than fool around with this. I will say the gals that mind the store though are very pleasant, know their business and what will sell and what doesn't so I can't fault them for rejecting what doesn't fit their business model. read more

I had a good experience here a few days ago. I sold 2 items to a sweet buyer named Ana. I saw an adorable vintage dress on the mannequin in the front window and asked if I could see it. She happily took it off for me and I ended up buying it :) As usual I wasn't very impressed by the current offerings. People don't seem to be selling much vintage anymore so the pickings were scarce. I did manage to find 3 things though. There is still a lot of junk in here but if you dig, you'll probably find something. I always stop in when I'm in the area. read more

They're a bit overpriced for a thrift store, but their selection is pretty gooood. Got a nice track jacket for $15, probably worth more than $40 retail price. And the cashier was really friendly and we even had an intriguing conversation about North Korea, spurred by my DMZ shirt. I went there on Wednesday August 4 and was I ever disappointed. They used to have large sizes they only have racks of small and medium. They used to have items priced under $10 now nothing is under $14 for used me thinks not!! I found some really great deals here in the past but I went and was just offended. NO LARGE??? before coming here to sell, call in and ask them what they're looking for. they buy things based on the season and the trends, so it's always nice to know what to bring in. selling is always a hit or miss. i find that their buying standards are quite unpredictable. a lot of stuff in their store is questionable. when you do sell though, you don't get too much back. i usually ask them how they price my items, and if i think it's priced unreasonably, i just ask to keep the stuff. they're really nice about it though, which is a plus. generally, if you're looking for "trendy" clothes, you're bound to find something here. when camo was in, there was a surplus of camo here. when spikes and studs were in, there was a surplus of that as well. the clothes are priced similarly to retail stores like forever 21, even though the clothes are used. given, a lot of the things are from forever or urban, buying it second hand is just slightly cheaper. i don't mind too much, because they do have nice things! staff is nice, place is decently clean. read more

Today was my first time in the store due to some cleaning I had been doing at home. I waned to try to sell some items instead of just giving it away for free. I walked in with hope that I would at least sell 1 or 2 items due to the fact that I brought in 2 grocery bags and 2 trash bags full of clothes. I ended up selling around 10-15 items and making $71. You could say I was pretty happy. To some people it may be a waste because you probably ended up spending $71 on 2 items that were sold to them but to me it's better than just giving them away for free. The workers were all super nice and very inviting. The only thing I wouldn't do is bring a small grocery bag of clothes in hope to sell something cause odds are slim to none on getting anything.Will be returning in the near future. read more

I've been to buffalo exchange a couple times in the past years but, I recently found this website that buys and sells used designer jeans. instead of leaving my house to trade in my clothes was able to do it all from my computer. To me this is a pretty amazing. I've never seen a website that does this. And i heard alto of people are doing outlooks like it's gonna be the new thing! Today I went with my sister to Buffalo Exchange to sell some of our old clothes. We go to Buffalo quite often and today was the same as always. The workers are all very friendly and welcoming, we had nice conversations with the buyers, and the environment is always nice. If you have never been I would highly suggest checking it out, the clothes that they buy are in good condition so I never have a problem with my purchased items. -SELLER REVIEW- theres some reviews saying that the employees didn't choose a lot of their clothes but its honestly based on what is already in the store as well as the season. It was my first time going to BE as a seller as well as a customer and it surprisingly wasn't a bad experience or a waste of time. yes, a lot of my clothes were not selected but also quite a bit of my clothes were selected. you just have to understand that BE is a business and these employees are using their best judgement on how to keep their business going. my advice is bring clothes that are instyle such as boho, grunge, vintage, etc. overall, the employees provided awesome customer service and allowed me to feel comfortable in a new place. i really enjoyed BE and am very willing to make the drive to downtown fullerton for this gem. read more
