After visiting the Long Beach Buffalo Exchange and having nearly all my in style almost brand new clothes rejected there, I quickly drove over to this store. Almost everything I brought into sell was accepted except for one pair of corduroy pants. I was very very happy. There were three customers ahead of me and lots of their clothes were accepted. As long as your clothes are cute, in style, and in high demand, you are good to go at this store. I chose the cash out which was about $50. I didn't have a ton of stuff but that amount was fine with me. I never have bought clothes from here but I'm sure you could find great deals because lots of people were buying things. read more

Definitely the best buffalo exchange I have ever been to, I brought in a trash bag filled with clothes that were forever21 fashionnova PRETTYLITTLETHING and I got about 50$ store credit for it all which for me is worth it because I can't believe how many locations I've been to where all they do is bash my clothes and send me on my way. The young English man I had who went through my clothes was such a joy to talk to, and he proceeded to tell me what they were looking for never judged my clothes super respectful. I have been buying and selling at Buffalo Exchange for many years so as far as selling goes, I know how it works. I called ahead to see what they were looking for and sure enough the stuff in my bag fit and were good brands (free people, etc.) and great condition. While the girl was going through my bag, I felt like she didn't even look at my stuff. I was really frustrated. Took it to Long Beach today and they bought most of it and the girl took the time to look at every item. read more

This location is the worst I've been to (and I've been to at least a dozen). Their selection of guys stuff sucks, and when I went to sell I found out why- their buyers suck. Not only did they not buy any of my numerous American apparel, brand name items, the buyer made a couple rude remarks, and then one inappropriate comment that really motivated me to review this store. Not for older, plus, size women so don't waste your time. I took to sell, a guess handbag, ny&co and style&co sweaters, some forever21 pencil skirts and other things with tags still on but they didn't want any of it. READ ALL! IN DEPTH REVIEW!! okay to start off I came in with four bags of clothes like big black trash bags filled. 4 of them. The process is simple you put the clothes on the counter and the worker just selects what they think is "good" and "bad". Now, they are SO SO SO PICKY. I went in a few days ago and it's winter time so of course they want winter clothes so I wasn't too upset when the worker wasn't taking any of the short sleeves or tank tops. But however I got to the bag where 80% of it was sweaters or jeans and she only took 3 things from that entire bag!! Almost all those sweaters were new or had been worn once. And mind you the sweaters were just plain sweaters nothing crazy on them where I would understand why they wouldn't take them. If you look at the workers and how they dress that basically is telling you if you have any clothes like that they will take. For instance I had this vintage looking lakers shirt I would ONLY wear to sleep because it was faded and old and would not wear it out in public BUT THEY TOOK IT. they literally take trash clothes right from you. AND they look at the brands on the clothing. For instance if they like the shirt or whatever the item is but if it's from target or something guess what? They're not taking it. They took a majority of my shirts with the brand name "BP" they sell that brand at Nordstrom and urban outfitters. Honestly this place rips you off. They say they won't take stuff because it's been worn down or just not the style they're looking for. Lies lies lies. They just look for brand names and if it's something that specific worker would wear. The good thing is if they don't take them in their store they give you an option where you just donate them and someone comes and picks them up. So if you are desperate and need the clothes the off on your hands sure go there. If you have some time and want a little more cash for your clothes I recommend selling them online. Make a Instagram for your old clothes or Poshmark is a good app I sell from. END RESULT: I came in with 4 black trash bags filled with clothes. I walked out with $49.46 in my hands. They either can give you store credit or cash so obviously I chose the cash. All and all I only recommend this place if you want to get rid of your clothes ASAP and get nothing for them. read more

I had brand new clothes that never been worn with price tags and a few rare vintage pieces that are still good in condition. save for the fact that this place is hipster central, i quite liked it......actually maybe i should admit, this texan isn't all that scared of em anymore, and maybe, just maybe (gulp) i actually like their style! the place is jam-packed with hipster clothing, hipster accessories, and hipsters themselves. i'm guessing this is what makes this place so hipster-friendly: 1) fedoras galore 2) faded hello kitty (sadly) 3) shirts with animals on them, esp. wolves 4) the employees wear bangs and red lipstick 5) long pendant necklaces (++ for sequinned gun pendants) 6) some kind of animal print 7) converse sneakers in rad colors 8) skinny jeans (with a well placed rip) 9) dresses that are almost-ugly (this means they are mostly ok, but there's one or two features that make it ugly, and hence, retro cool) what makes them not so hipster friendly: 1) women customers in their 60's that are trying to bring "old" back (i overheadr some cute ladies in the dressing room.."yeah, you can work that dress, i KNOW you can!") 2) the hoards of people waiting to get their stuff bought (bringing suitcases of clothes and all!) all in all, there were some cute stuff, and some stuff my mama's mama wore that doesn't look good on anyone but heidi klum.. i bought two really cute tops..a white long poet shirt for $12 and a black cardigan with puff sleeves and brown buttons that i ADORE for $14. not the cheapest prices i've seen for used clothing, but the stuff looks more quality and more high end boutique (aka: not forever 21). check it out esp. if you're in the area! read more

Do Not recommend selling your items. They are beyond picky and the clothes they have is not that great. I took name brand items with tags and they didn't want it... My review is from a seller's point of view. I never purchased anything from this store, but tried to sell my clothes. I had two bags filled with gently worn (most of them in style) clothes to sell. I understand that thrift stores need to be picky about what they buy from sellers, but the person examining my clothes said all my clothes were good and etc., etc., but didn't take a single item. Instead, she was letting me know that they are looking for items like the shirt that I was currently wearing. Came here to try to sell. It was my first time. The place is in a busy place in Fullerton (I am not from town), so note that you will have to find street parking nearby and walk your bags of clothes here. When I walked in, there were 2 sisters ahead of me. They brought MANY items. jeans, shoes, dresses. BX only was interested in the boots. HOW IT WORKS / THE SPIEL BY THE EMPLOYEES: Every store has different needs at different times, and they only have 1 month to sell. Therefore, they're looking for "softly worn items that are trendy, cute, and their customers would buy." They tell everyone that they don't look for a particular style or brand. I brought in 3 big shopping bags, and they bought 2 things. l o l. they bought BR pants and a clutch. Came out with $10. i wasn't sure if I was supposed to laugh or be happy that I made $10. There seemed to be a decent amount of luck involved. The employee who looks at your clothes is the one who decides if they want to buy / "if their store has a need." They say they buy styles from every season, if it's nice, but seemed a little less true to me. B/c if it's spring, unless your winter clothes is srsly amazing, why would they want to buy a jacket off of you if they only have 1 month to sell it. And let's be real: how many ppl go out to a thrift store to buy a jacket to prepare for the winter in the spring? You must bring a government ID & be older than 18 y/o to sell your clothes. They put you into their system if they want to buy something, and they have some unclear way of deciding how much they'll sell for. They then give you 30% cash or 50% store credit of that selling amount. Obv, if you bring in a brand name you got for $300, you'd totally be offended. So save your brand names for yourself. The process was quite smooth. 3 stars only b/c of inconvenient parking & b/c I only walked out with $10 and had to lug my 3 shopping bags back to my car. I'd heard of this place but never been because there isn't one near me. But after visiting a friend up there I drove past and decided to stop, realizing winter was coming and I had no sweaters. I walked out of there with 3 nice sweaters and a purse for less than $50. The customer service was great, the girl working (I was there soon after opening so it was slow) was so kind and didn't mind my toddler throwing a tantrum on the floor, and even helped keep her occupied. The selection and organization is great, and I will definitly stop by again whenever I'm in the area! read more

While this isn't the best Buffalo Exchange, it's still got the atmosphere and great shopping selection of all the other locations. Back when it opened there wasn't much to really look at in the store, but it's definitely grown and they're starting to pull some good buys in. Stores like this one and the Long Beach location usually draw more of the grungy college kids, but there's still a good chance you'll find some hot designer stuff here, too. My wife is still a fan of the original Buffalo in Tucson, AZ (right next to U of A) as their #1 location, and if we're talking about SoCal the La Brea location would have to be second. Fullerton is refreshingly absent of the dumpster divers, though. Still, if you are near Fullerton/Buena Park and want to sell some of your clothes that don't see as much action as they used to, make a trip over here and check it out. There's a chance you might pick up something you like, too. The buyers and other staff are friendly and helpful! As with all Buffalo Exchange stores, get a token if you buy anything instead of a bag. They give 5 cents to the charity you select when you drop a token in the corresponding box. read more

I feel strongly that this place shouldn't get pity stars because their employees are so nice and apologize frequently. 4 other people and I waited for well over 1 hour while 4-5 people worked in the back and one person bought and worked the cash register. Now I feel like the quality have really decreased and the racks are so squished it is hard to even find anything. I was a little reluctant to sell after reading reviews. However my experience was quite pleasant they buy for the season so keep that in mind when you are gathering things to take in. The staff was extremely helpful in my first selling experience. I got around $80 cash or $130 store credit. After selling I checked out the clothes and found some really cool/ cute things. You definitely have to look around since the racks are only divided by the type of clothing and not sizes but if you have a little patience it's easy to find great deals. read more

I went to this store to see what they have and it was ok. They're items seem a bit on the expensive side, especially since they're used and I could get the same thing new for the same price. I also tried to sell some items that were very nice and gently used. I'm not familiar with the "trendy" styles but they didn't buy one thing from me because they were not "in". i sold at the long beach one before so i know how it goes. PEOPLE you HAVE to bring in whats in season right now! you can bring in brand new suits or out of season clothes with tags on but that DOESNT MEAN THEY WILL TAKE IT. If you have whatever you see at department stores right now in your closet that you for some reason just want to get rid of then you probably will be able to sell it. example, high waist shorts, flowy summer print blouses, cute summer dresses, any vintage item, flats. i went in last saturday and it was a pleasant transaction. just keep in mind, if it is something you hate and is totally out of season, then mostly likely it wont sell because noone will buy. read more

You can definitely get lucky and find something really cute and unique, but you need to get REALLY lucky. A lot of the clothes is old and some is even dirty. Upon entering the store you will smell that weird scent that this store has that comes from the old clothing. Definitely overpriced considering a lot of this stuff is used. Plato's closet seems to have a more variety of styles than this one. read more

Buffalo Exchange...always announced in OC Weekly, makes me want to go, and when I do, it's dissapointing. Oh, not if you have more than $20 and a size S-M (Sometimes L) . There are cute clothes -- a lot of blouses and tunics, t-shirts -- and never ending jeans. Slim choice on dresses, the shoe rack is okay, but I , personally, wouldn' buy used shoes. What is really awesome is that you can find a Dooney and Burke purse for $20 or something (My mom really loves those high fashion purse brands) . I don't recomend you visit this place regularly, since you can find the same shirt you saw on your visit two weeks ago. Another reason why I was dissapointed is that they are NOT vintage. Black Hole Records is an authentic vintage store. Just because a shirt is two months old does not make it vintage. The best way to discribe this place is going into a hipster's very large closet. There. Oh, and parking in that general area sucks if you go during a Friday night or the weekend. I recomend you take the 43 bus down Harbor to Downtown Fullerton. read more

buying: this buffalo is a lot less crowded than the costa mesa location. however, the staff is just as jaded and the prices are about the same. i couldn't seem to find anything that i liked in my size, i've had better luck at the goodwill! lots of forever 21 and old navy items, again like the costa mesa store. selling: it really seems like they don't take anything out of the trash bags i bring in, but i got $145 store credit so it must have been something! upon browsing the racks it looks like they mostly like sevens and even old navy skinny jeans, so that would explain why they didn't take the brands i brought in. the girls inspecting and ringing up my stuff were polite enough and didn't give me any attitude. keep in mind that if you take store credit for your sold items, you don't have to use it right away and you can redeem it at any buffalo location. read more

At this location, employees didn't check labels when I went to sell my clothes. They don't seem to value the brands that the chain values in general. (And brand new clothes of those brands at that). If you're selling your nice brand clothes, you may have more luck at a different location. But who knows- maybe it was just an off day? But why wouldn't they check the labels ?!!! I love it here! I always find the best stuff. I always come across True Religions in my size for super cheap! The thing is you have to be patient and sort through all the clothes to find the gems. Oh! And don't forget to walk towards the back and look through the clearance rack. They're marked extra 50% off! this is a chain store, but there are few enough of them that i can pretend that they aren't. this place is great for people who like wacky, bright retro clothing and apparel. dare i say it? i dare: yes, this it is a hipster store. but if you are attracted to that sort of fashion items, than this is the store for you! word to the wise though; if you are selling clothing here, don't be surprised at the good stuff that they turn down as the people who decide what clothes to and not to buy use their own discretion (for the most part) on whether or not an item is sellable or not. read more
