Great way to see Buenos Aires, especially on a very warm summer day. Love using Hop On Hop Off Buses to get a feel for a large city. The Buenos Aires Tourist Bus was perfect to get a three-hour tour with so many iconic places to stop along the way. After visiting Recoleta Cemetery and the surrounding picturesque neighborhood, we paid $25 cash (you will get a better conversion rate) at the bus tour kiosk for a 24-hour pass. The pass is good for 24 hours from when you begin your tour. We chose a nice upstairs seat outside, then plugged in our yellow headphones and dialed into the English commentary. Loved the panoramic views overlooking historic landmarks, cultural spaces and unique neighborhoods full of Argentine culture. Nice to enjoy the leisurely pace as we rode past Plaza de Mayo, La Boca, Caminito, Puerto Madero, Teatro Colón, and Floralis Genérica. Loved visiting La Bombonera (the home of the famous Boca Juniors soccer club) without fighting the crowds. Nice to see the street art and colonial architecture in San Telmo from a vantage perspective. This was a great overview to orient us to neighborhoods and museums that we visited during our Buenos Aires vacation. Highlights included Plaza de Congreso, Puente de la Mujer (the Woman's Bridge), Teatro Colón, Floralis Genérica and the surrounding park, and the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes. A great way to bookmark places to visit. Special thanks to Long Beach Yelp Elite Erica T. who scoped out the bus tour and gave us this great recommendation. Note: The buses run on an every 30-50 minue schedule and may make some longer stops, which is actually perfect for picking up a snack or taking a quick photo stop. Just ask when the next bus is coming. We did move into the airconditioned front of the bus near the end of the day when it was 43C/109F!! read more

They sell way too many tickets for the buses and the audio is very generic. We got off the bus to look around and were told we could get back on the bus at anytime. When the bus came it was too full to let us on, and the next bus, and the next bus. We had to pay for a taxi to get back to our original destination after an hour of waiting in the sun. Don't waste your money on this business. read more

This tour was terrible. The driver drove through at least 20 red lights. Took off before people were seated. We were 1st in line and suddenly another bus appeared unloaded everyone giving them priority seating and making us wait. Then the row for disabled people was taken up by the drivers backpack. As for the info VERY LIMITED! A bit of mention about artist, poets some historical figures. Mostly Eva Peron. But even that was limited in the 3 hours instead of playing really bad music more history would be nice! I think perhaps more than a couple of sentences about Pope Francis might have been in order too! Very disappointing and I've done similar tours around the world and usually like them but this was TERRIBLE. read more

We rode the bus two days in a row, seeing the first half on day one and then picking up at stop 12 to see the second half on day two. Pros: pretty convenient way to see a whole bunch of the city in a small amount of time. Interesting facts on the lands, buildings, and people. It's nice to be able to jump off and walk around and grab a subsequent bus. Ticket is good for 24 hours. Buses (typically) run on time. Cons: we had a bus break down both days and had to wait for another bus to show up. Not sure what it costs to maintain the fleet, but they might want to increase that expenditure. The final bus we got on (for like the last four stops) had zero audio. For anyone in any seat in any language. They called a stop that we wanted to get out for, but because there was no one waiting to get picked up, the bus just kept rolling. If your spot is coming up and you're up top make sure you pack up fast and get downstairs so they see you. There's long (5-10 minute) breaks with nothing but sad soft elevator music trying to lull you to sleep. It seems like they could throw a few more interesting facts into those dead spaces. Speaking of dead spaces (and by far the most annoying thing), I'd say legitimately 80% of the time you'd get the following - 5 minutes of boring elevator music. Then you'd roll up on a cool looking building and the automated voice would start "out your left you'll see the palace of..." only to be drowned out by the voice of the bus driver saying what the next stop was. It's insane! Minutes of silence (or boring music) only then to have two voices talking about different things at the same time. It was ridiculously stupid that they haven't figured this out. In 20+ stops, I think I actually heard about 4 or 5 buildings. Highly disappointing. There's another bus tour, a red and black fleet of buses that also tours BA. I'd try them. I doubt they're any worse. read more

We have taken the Hop on Hop off bused around the world and have been pleased. This one was disappointing. WE picked up the bus at the port where they have a kiosk selling tickets. Believe it or not CASH only. Then we were shuttled to pick up the touring bus. The sound track is old and needs to be updated. There was a lot of music between sites instead of narratives. We took 2 circuits and when they stopped at the first stop where their main office is. Instead of telling us to get on another bus which was leaving, we sat for 25 minutes. read more
Save your time, money, and frustration. Find the areas you want to visit and take a taxi or Uber there. This bus service is unprofessional and unreliable. Our group tried to buy tickets online on their website, but only half of us were able to do so. The rest had problems completing the payment. When we arrived at the bus stop, they only allowed those of us on the bus that had already purchased a ticket. Those of us with cash were left at the stop, even though there was room on the bus and the website says you can pay with cash. I had cash so I took a taxi instead. My friends who were actually able to get on the bus said they wish they had just taken a taxi, since the bus didn't provide much information and the views weren't any better than looking out of a taxi window. Basically, it's a slow, expensive, and inefficient way to tour the city. read more

Probably the worst way to spend your time and money. 700 pesos each to travel 2.5 miles in 1.5 hours Walking is better. Taxi cabs are cheaper. Watched a couple from Canada give up and hail a taxi. We should have joined them read more

The BA bus is a great way to see a lot of the city in a short amount of time at a great price. Also a good way for tourists to get around during the afternoon rush when taxis are rare. read more

I've done bus tours around the world and have never had one as bad as this! I even went back to ask for part of my money back. 1. Sat on bus, put on large headphones. Heard music. Went slient for a while and then continued. Turned out, I was missing the commentary/tour. I had to change seats to find an outlet that had the tour twice. 2. I was in line for the opening. First bus was scheduled at 0845. Store didn't open to sell tickets until 0900. First bus arrived at 0915. 3. Tour commentary often cut out before the last words. At parts of the tour, the commentary started in the middle of a sentence. 4. During the 2nd half of the tour, the audio would begin that the subject was on the left, then would switch to saying it was on the right. Often times, the subject being discussed was no where to be seen. Often times the subject being discussed was on the opposite side of where they said it was. At one point, the object was directly ahead of the bus, but it said it was on the left. 5. Some people who bought tickets were given a bottle of wine. I was not. I don't know why. I wasn't asked if I had any coupon or what ever. It left me feeling left out, as I was one of the only ones on the bus without a bottle of wine. 6. At one stop, we sat for over half an hour while the driver went to the restroom and got a coffee. We were only on the bus for half an hour at this point. Should he not have done this before picking us up half an hour late? 7. When I complained at the end of the tour, I asked for a portion of my money back. I was told this was not possible, as they do not give discounts or free tours. I was offered another day free. I asked why would I want another day of a lousy tour for free? It wasn't even noon and I was done with this hop on hop off tour! I wanted no more of it! After telling a few patrons coming in to buy tickets that I wouldn't recommend this tour, they finally offered me nearly half the money back! On the way back, I saw a tour bus that was purple. I don't recall the name, but I would try that tour long before ever doing this one or recommending it to anyone! read more

If you are looking for a way to learn some interesting facts, history and background information about Buenos Aires, this tour is not for you. During this 4 hour trip through the city (give or take, as they seem to be changing the route fairly frequently), you see the most important sights and can get off the bus to discover an area as you please. The biggest problem I had with this tour was the audio guide. The scant information that is provided between endless tracks of tango music usually doesn't match the current location of the bus and is limited to name an architect of a building. My favourite example from the audio guide: "On this street lived one of the greatest national heros of Argentina". To this day I still haven't been able to figure out, who this hero was and what exactly made him a hero. Basically this "tour" is just an expensive, extended bus ride through the city. Taking a taxi would probably have been cheaper, faster and more informative. read more
The content of the tour is pretty lacking. There are stations in different languages but you need a headset that works. Our real goal was to use this for transportation along the tourist section of BA. This is a great thought but the times they post are not correct. Usually we only "missed" one bus but during rush hour the buses didn't seem to function anywhere close to the posted time. Waiting and waiting isn't exactly what we intended but it is what we got. Worth it to see the city but you only need a 24 hour pass. Get it all done in a day and return to the areas of interest by some other means of transportation. read more
As many other people also said, this bus tour is AWFUL. Why? 1. The company advertises 24 and 48 hour tickets, but in practice, they do not want you to use your ticket over multiple days. I wanted to start my tour around 4pm on day 1, but when the bus came, I was told I could not buy a ticket anymore that day and needed to come back the next day. This was ridiculous, as the bus I wanted to board was starting its tour and would be going for almost 3 more hours. The tickets are printed out on receipt paper on a machine, so the excuse that "all tickets were sold out" didn't make sense. Additionally, there were all of 10 people on board, so plenty of room left for more passengers. But instead of being allowed to board, I was told to come back at 9am the next day. 2. The route frequently changes and no notice is posted at stops nor given when tickets are bought. I waited at a stop for almost 30 minutes and no bus ever came, I was later told the busses would be passing that stop. There was no sign at the stop explaining this. Additionally, almost half of one route was bypassed: no notice was given of this either, and we didn't find out until the bus turned around after going only part way. 3. Busses take breaks for 30+ minutes at times. We arrived at a stop where another bus was also waiting. That bus departed after about 5 minutes and our bus stayed. After a few more minutes, a few of us asked what was happening. We were told that it was break time and that we should have gotten on the other bus if we wanted to continue. However, nobody told us this (in English or Spanish). We ended up having to wait another 30 minutes before we could continue on the tour. 4. With all of this, it's a challenge to see all the loops in a single day, even if you stay on the bus and never get off. The brochure will make it sound like it only takes around 4 hours to do all three loops, but it's really more like 2-3 times that long (i.e. 8-10 hours) when you take all the detours, breaks, and late busses into account. I got on the first bus of the day, only got off twice for around 30 minutes per stop (not including all the extra time I spent waiting or times I got off to change busses), and, after everything above, I barely made it around all the circuits in time. 5. The busses will speed through the final leg of the day. My final driver drove like crazy, took turns on two wheels, and caused the audio guide to skip through commentary since we were passing things so quickly. Obviously the staff wanted to go home early, which translates to a worse experience for us. After all this, if you want to take a ride on an open top bus, don't care if you can't see everything, and don't mind wasting time sitting on a parked bus, then go for it. But at least you will know that going into it. read more

Buenos Aires Entrepreneurs: Here's an easy market to get into - drive these guys out of business Service is horrible, employees hate their life and their customers, and the tour wasn't even that good. 1. We had purchased tickets for January 1, which they assured would be a workday and everything would be running, albeit at limited hours. We tried to hop on originally in Recoleta, but the stand was closed so we couldn't change our voucher into a ticket. When I purchased, there was no notice of this and they had assured us that things would be running smoothly. 2. When the bus came, they wouldn't let us on, even though we had our voucher for that day. They said they had space for only two people. But as the bus drove away, we saw large groups of empty seats. 3. So we went to the HQ near the Plaza de Mayo. There was a long line, which might be understandable. But there were two employees sitting in the air-conditioned closet/office doing absolutely nothing during the whole time. 4. Once we finally got to the front of the line (and after hearing several complaints in front of us of a similar nature as my complaints), the employee with dead eyes told us we couldn't ride that day and would have to get a ticket for the next day. I drew out the conversation, told her what had happened, and she finally put us on a 3:30pm bus - but she had originally said they had no more tickets for that day. 5. While we got tickets, if we wanted the full loop, we couldn't get off anywhere. Sometime during our long wait in the line, they decided to stop working that day a half an hour earlier than they had told us that morning. 6. While on the bus, there's some basic stuff you expect from a bus tour: the audio and video should at least roughly match up to what we're seeing. At Buenos Aires Bus, AV is not even synced to the locations. They would talk about a place and everyone would look around for it. In one which I couldn't find, I remembered we had already passed 3 maybe 5 minutes before something that resembled the description in the audio. 7. Buenos Aires Bus took a break in La Boca, at an old bar called El Estaño. Well. They don't advertise their prices. So a small bottle of water, which normally costs less than 10 pesos, cost me 30 pesos, and a lady next to me 35 pesos. I had paid 13 pesos the day before for a huge bottle. Buenos Aires Bus definitely knows that this place takes advantages of its customers (mainly tourists), if not only because I told them, but they still take us there. 8. On the way back, once it hit 5 or 5:30, whatever their arbitrary closing time was, the bus stopped broadcasting the audio and visual, and tried to unload as many passengers as possible while making a beeline to Plaza de Mayo. Not even kidding, one of the employees (maybe even the driver because the bus stopped in the highway while he came to talk to us) asked each person what stop to drop us off at. 9. As I left I told the employee about the con at El Estaño, but he didn't respond and just motioned for me to get off. So, not at all bucking the infamy of Buenos Aires, Buenos Aires Bus robs the tourist, sells a crappy product, and even conspires with another company, El Estaño, to do so. read more

Avoid avoid avoid. Many things to complain about. First of all, the website is either intentionally deceptive or they copied all their info from another company but didn't bother to extend this to their actual operations. Nothing on the website is true!! 1) you can purchase a 24 hour ticket but actually the bus only runs til 5pm, so if you are boarding at noon, it's actually just a five hour ticket. They will kick you off at 5pm. You can't just board when you arrive, instead we arrived at 10, waited an hour in line, bought our tickets, gave the woman the money to pay, and then was told in Spanish almost in passing that we couldn't board until 12:40pm!!!!!! Given the tour is 3.5 hours and the bus stops at 5pm, we could only get disembark at one stop!!! We basically felt like we were held hostage by the bus 2) they advertise many languages in the audio portion but there was only English, Spanish and Japanese at the time of our service. Also the English tour was awful. 3) The entire tour is 3.5 hours and there's a new bus every 20 mins, but you basically don't have time to disembark and spend 20 mins at any site because they park so far away from where you want to go that you end up wasting 20 mins walking there and almost missing the next bus. Keep in mind if you board at 10am, you can realistically disembark at about 3-5 locations locations buuuuut 4) you can't actually ride the bus at 10am even if you arrive at 9am because because they assign an hour of boarding for you (contrary to their website they don't sell on the bus!!!!). So we arrived at 10am, could only board at 12:40, and only could get off at one stop to make sure we could complete the whole loop read more

Update: I went to the main office (0 stop near Plaza de Mayo) and spoke with a helpful lady who spoke English well. Apparently the lady I had interacted with at the Recoleta stop, Laura, has a reputation for bad service and not accepting email vouchers though that's company policy. I asked why Laura still worked there and she shared my confusion. They gave me a cash refund without difficulty so I'm bumping it up to 2 stars. read more
