Our commute to here is about 30 minutes but I feel it is worth it. There is ample metered street parking. This particular location (Mathnasium is a franchise and each center is privately owned) has what they call pods; three students are assigned to one tutor. I visited a different center where there was one "floating" tutor for the entire time your child is there. For me, this wouldn't have worked as my son needs a little more hands on help and oversight because of lack of ability to focus for long periods of time. Each session is an hour. Children are given binders to keep up with their progress. The center will "test" your child's level and help you determine where they would best fit in beginning their math sessions here. Julie, one of the co-owners of the center, has been more than acommodating to us in tweeking my son's individual plan based on what he is learning now in school. The other Mathnasium I visited noted they would only dedicate 15 minutes to homework. My son tutors with Ron and he's been very happy and says he has been able to learn new techniques from him. It's been three months so thus far am very happy with the center - very friendly, accommodating, polite and helpful. Would definitely recommend to anyone in need of school help.

So this went on and I had to give them 3000 for no reason at all. Workers can blame me but after I don't show up for a month they didn't even THINK of calling to ask if they should cancel it? Even though I told them to cancel my classes. When i asked for the money back they refused even though I didn't take any classes, so essentially they stole from me. No emails, no calls, no warning that they took money from us every month. Teachers are worse than before, they don't teach very well.

I cannot recommend them highly enough. Going back to high school, I had a terrific experience working with Advantage on my college entrance exams. Even though I hated studying in school, I genuinely enjoyed working with AT's teachers. Aside from being gifted instructors, they are some of the friendliest people you'll meet, and they seem to genuinely care about their students. I remember they customized a study plan for me, focusing on the areas of the test that I needed to improve the most. Following their plan, and using the strategies I learned in class, I earned a 760 Verbal, 750 Math I, 790 Writing, and an 800 Math II, all a significant boost above my diagnostic scores (which I recall being in the low ~600 range). Years later, when I decided to pursue my dream of becoming a lawyer, and began looking for the right LSAT test prep service, turning to Advantage was a no-brainer. On my first LSAT practice test, I received a diagnostic evaluation in the 55th percentile. I knew that I would need a significant (aka Elle Woods-level) jump in my LSAT score to have a decent shot at the top schools. That's when Advantage came in. Studying with Advantage tutors, you learn to break down each section of the test into a set of consistent techniques, which you hone and solidify over repeated practice tests. After months of test prep, I took the LSAT and scored a 99th percentile on the official exam. Equipped with a great LSAT score, I was admitted to my top choice for law school, a feat that had seemed impossible only a few months prior. Now, as a practicing attorney looking back on it, I am certain I would not have been nearly as well prepared with any other test prep service. In sum, I don't think there is anyone as professional or effective as Advantage when it comes to the hard work of preparing for high-stakes entrance exams. I recommend them without hesitation.

Andrea is very patient (especially with grammar and pronunciation) but knows when and how to challenge you so that one can their reach potential. She is organized and comes to each lesson prepared (I've had previous experiences with other tutors where this was not the case). With my work schedule busy and sometimes fluid, she has always been flexible and accommodating. We found the nightly homework more useful than the Zoom, but that could be individual preference. The homework helped highlight what areas my son needed work on. Also, it was helpful to have him practice sitting for a long test. It's not magic. It's practice, practice, practice. Don't expect a child to manage this by themselves. There was quite a bit of parental involvement until we were accustomed to the pacing and log-in. I'm happy we chose to use Kweller and I would use them again.
