Now that is what you call service! We pulled into our site and hooked everything up, and everything worked well. The site was level which is really convenient seeing how we don't like rolling around in the middle of the night from not being level. They then gave us a key card for the bathrooms and when I went to go use the facilities those bathrooms were JAW-DROPPING! I've never seen such nice bathrooms from a RV park in my life! Later I hiked Guadalupe Peak and when I got back I was dusty and dirty, so I took a shower, and it was the single handily the best shower of my life. We have a Trailmanor pop up camper and what we think to be an employee came by and started complimenting our camper. Let me tell you he was just one of the nicest guys I've ever met. This was just a great place to stay, and I highly recommend it. No doubt about it I'm coming back!

The staff was helpful in fulfilling our request and very friendly upon check-in even though they are experiencing staffing shortages. We had asked about local Mexican Restaurants and a list was provided, and their suggestion was EXCELLENT (Taqueria Jalisco). We were assigned to site #6 which is a spacious gravel & stone pull-through with full hook-up. The bathhouse was clean and air conditioned, but we had to beat the workers coming home to the hot water. The Carlsbad Caverns National Park is just 24 miles / 30 minutes away. We were here for 3 nights and very pleased with our stay.

Mile 10 Dispersed Camping - Texas is nearby as well to Mile 10. Overall, this campground was great for exploring 2 national parks in the area.

Mile 10 Dispersed Camping

This Mile 10 Dispersed Campground was one of the most secluded and quiet "off the beaten path"…read moreplaces I have ever seen. But...for those interested in getting out in nature in almost the middle of nowhere, then this spot is for you. Well actually, for those adventurers exploring the Carlsbad Caverns and Guadalupe Mountains area...then this campground is sufficient. Let me explain a little more about Mile 10 Campground. I discovered it on the trusty app on my phone called Campendium. And as I have mentioned countless times, Campdendium is an absolute MUST download for those enthusiasts interested in sleeping in the great outdoors rather than paying up for a hotel/motel/lodge. This Campendium is ideal for those on a limited budget. And Campendium is also good for folks and tourists bringing their RV's/Campers...it assists in finding any campsite anywhere as long as you have internet connection on your phone. But...back to this Mile 10 Campground. I swear...wow...this place was one of the most desolate camping areas along my entire cross country road trip!!! When I reflect back on all the terrific outdoor campground spots that I frequented...this spot reminds me of loneliness. Pure loneliness, lol. That's okay though. It's actually good. I even stayed here on 2 consecutive evenings because it was so quiet and undisturbed, I knew I'd have no issue returning and finding availability after my day long hikes and explorations. So...I was guaranteed a place to set up my tent...without having to pay a fee so that I can enjoy truly being in the middle, in the heart of the southwestern desert!!! And that's what I genuinely appreciated about Mile 10. If you want to feel the ultimate true essence for the desert, this campground is right up your alley!!! Here are some important details from Mile 10 Campground... - When I arrived it was just simply choosing a spot and then good to go. No need to pay any money or fill out a form for my camping. I parked my car in front of my tenting section and that was it. - This area was absolutely big enough to accommodate trailers and RV's. - During my time here on both evenings there were other campers staying on the grounds as well...but certainly enough space to be far away from each other. - There were no rules or regulations. Although it was so hot during summer, I was still able to barbecue using charcoal. - I swear...the surroundings here were pure desert. Wait till you see my photos, lol. The main reason for me coming to Mile 10 right on the border of Texas and New Mexico was because of the easy accessibility for sleeping overnight while exploring Carlsbad Caverns and Guadalupe Mountains National Parks. For two national parks being so conveniently located next to each other, I used Mile 10 as my "home base" at night before returning to both parks the following days...ultimately I spent 3 full days. Another good aspect was the city of Carlsbad, New Mexico being situated right nearby. If I needed gas, supplies or just real food in Carlsbad, all it took was about a 25 mile drive or so to get back to civilization. Actually, when I was here back in September on a Sunday...I headed back into Carlsbad and watched the NFL football games for the day before coming back to enjoy more of the parks. In the end...Mile 10 had great elements to it. One thing...there weren't any vault toilets here. So when I had to go...I just went. Obviously...showers and or running water were non-existent. This Mile 10 was pure isolation. Mile 10 is located right off Highways 62 and 180 depending on which direction your coming from. From the picture you'll see, I literally saw a sign from the road stating "Mile 10" and I turned onto the campgrounds. It was that convenient. The road entering was gravel but nothing difficult for my midsize car. And if anyone cares...this entire region along Highways 62 and 180 had reasonable camping spots if you decide not to choose Mile 10. Just plug away at other locations on Campendium. I'll list a few other campgrounds nearby.... - Chosa Campground - Sunset Reef Campground - Parks Ranch Campground - Camp Washington Ranch - White's City RV Park - Fence Canyon Overall, if Mile 10 isn't your preference...you can try a list of those. Lastly, not having to pay a fee to stay and knowing I'd have no problems reserving or getting a campsite here put me at ease during my time in this national parks part of the country. I was more than happy with Mile 10. I happily recommend it. Ultimately...this campground just gave me time and opportunities to appreciate the simpler things in life including even looking up at the stars at night. I am the most casual, blue collar person you'll ever meet and this Mile 10 checked the box for me as a fulfilling overnight place to rest and relax.
