He learned how to defend himself if he ever had to do so, yet Mr. Lewis stresses that what he teaches should never be used unless it absolutely has to be used. He makes it very fun for the kids and they stay active during the whole class. Mr. Lewis also teaches life skills that kids don't learn in school, such as self-control, discipline, manners, etc.

We tried out the class for a week and I was impressed with the higher level students in his classes. Just as important, my son enjoyed the classes and was excited to continue. We have been training her for a few months now and I can say, from my experience, there isn't much more you could ask for out of a karate school. Definitely has an old school mentality, but has done a good job keeping up with the times and making martial arts available to anyone willing to try. The students involved are all welcoming as well, and it makes for a great atmosphere for training.
