This company was hired to move my daughter, who was in the Army at the time, from her base in Augusta, Ga. to Columbia, Md. The moving contract provided for insurance to cover items lost or damaged in the move. When my daughter's possessions arrived it was discovered that a nightstand was severely damaged in the move and had to be replaced at a cost of over $600- a lot of money for someone in the Army. Despite numerous letters and phone calls sent to the company over the past 18 months it has done absolutely nothing to process the insurance claim or otherwise reimburse my daughter. The company's attitude is that it couldn't care less. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY unless you are willing to assume the out of pocket risk for any possessions lost or damaged in the move. A couple of years ago these Budget movers moved me from Grovetown to Plaza Place, North Augusta I didn't really notice it at first I was just too stoked to be in my new apartment! As I was unpacking I noticed that there were a lot of things missing!! At first I doubted that the movers stole stuff. They kept boxes and boxes larger things like freaking ironing board for crying out loud!! I mean are you stupid or something? IT IS OBVIOUS YOU WANT CURSES FROM GOD!! I got more and more angry, every single time I found something missing! I was finding things missing a year after practically I was like oh damn it! I PRAYED FOR THEM TO GET THEIR ASSES KICKED, BY FAITH I KNOW IT OCCURRED!! THEY BROUGHT THIS UPON THEMSELVES MY SOUL IS CLEAN! Every single thing I found missing they got BEET! They packed up our moving truck. I paid extra to have my tv crated. It broke. I called the owner and was told I would get reimbursed for a new tv. Sent pictures of broken tv as requested. Was given the runaround after that. Called several times and was told the woman who was supposed to follow up with me was "on lunch and would call me back." Did not arrive with number of guys agreed upon causing move to take longer. One guy left for lunch in moving truck with our items and did not return for 2.5hrs. This was a move out with move in next day so paid for overnight storage. Next day movers did not arrive till late afternoon, this was not discussed when contracted and caused several issues. Items were literally thrown in my garage but worst was: Damaged furniture to include antiques. Boxes busted open and Items stolen! When filing a claim with the company,.Ashley stated she was waiting to hear back after following up for a month learned she never filed the claim. It was ultimately filed after me pressing and of course with insurance our claim was reduced to pennies. If you want a move and care about your Items do not use this company, if your throwing out your ex and could careless this is the company for you. read more

I called them the day before our out of state move to help us unload our Uhaul and they were able to squeeze us in. We were running behind on our 12 hour move that turned into 48 hours and we asked if they could be at our new place closer to 9am the next day when their ETA was between 8am and 9am. They were there before 9am and starting unloading immediately. They were very mindful of our carpet and our furniture. They were done unloading our 15 foot Uhaul in an hour and 15 minutes. I highly recommend them will use them in the future if needed! read more

If I could give zero stars I would. This company Moved my now husband from Augusta to Aiken. During the process they broke two pieces of his furniture. They sent someone out to see if they could fix them, but they were able to fix one. They told my husband that they would give him $500 for the furniture they broke. This happened in February yes FEBRUARY!!!! Whenever he tries to call he gets the run around and the problem has not been resolved as of (6/1/22). This is ridiculous and I really hope that nobody else goes through what we are goin through. When you trust people to take care of your belongings you'd think they'd do that. However I also understand that accidents happen but they are responsible for what happens. If they would've broke something and took the responsibility for it this review would've been a positive one. If you value your belongings and time don't use this company. read more

Absolute worst company (and not just moving) I've ever dealt with in my entire life! If there was a minus rating, I'd post that! I don't even know where to start. I moved a year ago and still haven't heard anything from the insurance company they deal with. I've called at least a dozen times but the woman on the phone, Ashley, is very uncooperative. Won't call back when requested, wouldn't check up on the matter, says she'll have the owner to call me which never happens, and is extremely evasive on the phone. They clearly don't want to deal with people's problems once they the job is done. All this is minor compared to what I went through the day of moving however. They sent 3 guys out and I'm convinced one was a criminal. Not only that but some kind of mental case as well. He started fighting with the other 2 guys because he was mad that he wasn't paired with his cousin that day. He screamed and screamed at them for 2 whole hours! The other 2 were great and didn't respond back to him. I was about to call the owner and have him removed from the job but 1 of the other guys said they wouldn't be able to get the job done that day without him. So I let it go. HUGE mistake!! He broke all kinds of stuff, hid the evidence behind curtains, and moved my dresser across the hardwood floors that left a 15 feet deep scratch in the hardwood in the living room that can't be fixed without refinishing the entire room. But worse of all, I noticed the lock on my filing cabinet, which had bank statements, retirement account statements and other sensitive info in it, had been tempered with. Not only that, but a couple of months after the move, we were informed by Lifelock that our information was on dark web. That can't possibly be coincidence! I'm also missing some jewelry, 400 dollar Prada sunglasses (he left the case the glasses were in and took the glasses out), and some other things. I was told to contact the police, which I did. However, I did not file a report because the last thing I want is some criminal with severe mental issues coming back for revenge. Contacted Budget Movers back and was told that the day after my move that particular employee had quit. He probably got enough from us to last him a while! Besides that, ZERO concern from the company. I asked to speak to the owner. He never called, never followed up, never apologized. Then the nightmare with their insurance company started. I'm still waiting on the few things I did claim. I must have called Budget at least a dozen times to check up on things. It's now been a year and last week when I finally blew up, the girl from Budget proceeded to tell me the claim was denied because "you turned down the offer to have it (a nightstand) fixed". I didn't turn anything down. The guy from Budget they did sent out to fix it agreed with me it was unfixable and needed to be turned over to the insurance company. I'm giving up at this point and will have to take the losses. I realize I made a HUGE mistake by calling the first moving company that popped up on my screen when I googled it. Never again. I'll pay twice as much next time before picking some budget moving company again. Save yourself a lot of trouble and do NOT pick this horrendous company! read more

Just garbage. The two guys they sent parked the truck in the street instead of parking in the drive way witch took longer to move my belongings from my 2 bedroom house in Columbia SC to a storage unit in Augusta Ga. This was to raise the hourl rate of moving. And when we get to the storage unit I had a family emergency that I to leave and had the movers unload the truck while I was inable to supervise them. I opened the storage unit the next day i saw my furniture not packed safey. Heavy items stacked on light items, My plug in heater is laying sideways on something and part of my bedroom head board is laying on the heater. The whole storage unit is a mess. I don't even see my to 50 inch tvs. I think put them in first. When you open the storage unit theres No organization. Thrown in there. No care. My oak bedroom set is sitting on my tvs. The movers are straight dog doo doo. I paid my hard earned my for this service????? There are waste management. read more

All I can say is you get what you pay for. I was on a budget and I received budget service. I had very little to move, only heavy items I couldn't move on my own. Two bedroom sets, a couch, a dining table, washer and dryer, and patio furniture was basically all I had. It took three guys four hours to pick up and drop off from Harlem to Grovetown. Didn't have to take anything apart or put anything together except four screws from my dining table. Here is where it goes terribly wrong. I wasn't too upset about the time, I figure everybody moves at their own pace so whatever. The problem began when they left with the screws to my table. I called the company just a couple of hours after they left and couldn't get an answer. I guess they close early on Saturdays. Anyway, I left a detailed message about the situation and fully expected a call from them first thing Monday morning. I didn't receive a call, so when I called them and spoke with Ashley I had to explain all over again as if I didn't leave a message. Ashley stated that she would contact the movers and call me back. She didn't call me back. So I called again and Ashley was at lunch so I had to explain my situation all over again only to be told that Ashley would handle it when she returned. So I waited for a call back from Ashley again and of course, I didn't get a call . When I called back Ashley commenced to tell me (unapologetically) that the person who probably has the screws can't be reached until morning because he is driving. So I figured someone would call me first thing Tuesday morning, not Ashley because she clearly doesn't give a shit about customer satisfaction, but once again no call. So I called around 9:30 am Tuesday and I get Ashley again. She then tells me yes they have the screws in the office :/ and then there's a long pause like she needed more information from me. So I asked when will someone be by to bring my screws? She puts me on hold and then comes back and says someone will bring them between 5-7pm. Needless to say, I am still waiting for my screws while my table sits in the dining room in pieces. I'm not sure whether the problem is with the company, Ashley, or the movers but I definitely would not recommend this company for your next move. read more

3 months ago Jimmy and Eric were fantastic. They were low key, professional, diligent, nice, trustworthy and everything you would hope for in movers. They did a great job wrapping our furniture and artwork. Their billing was fair and accurate. Our building requires that movers be accompanied up and down the elevator and our building person who does that all the time said that they are among the very best she has seen. Very horrible experience with this company. We had hired them to move us from Augusta to Atlanta. One of the movers who they sent went into my wife's purse and stole a $20 bill. When confronted about the missing money, each mover played dumb. We eventually filed a police report and followed up with the company. The woman I spoke to was very unprofessional and said, "im telling you the same thing I tols your wife, What do you expect us to do about it?" $20 is a small amount of money; however, it is the overall unprofessionalism exhibited by this company and its employees that earned them such a negative review. read more

we used Budget in July for our move from Evans to Appling, GA. Our belongings were stored in their truck for 2 night ....big mistake. But first, a leg on our dresser was broken and they pointed it out to me. I told them it was impossible as the dresser had been in the same spot for 18 years. So, instead of lifting, they pulled over carpet. One of the guys did fix it. Secondly, one of my medications was missing and it had to have happened while I was gone and my husband was in the garage finalizing payment. One of the movers had gone inside to get the remaining pizza from lunch and he was unaccompanied. Our belongings were delivered on the day as promised but, unfortunately , we did not get everything that we packed. I called the office and Ashley asked if we had gone through all of the boxes. Of course, we had. She said she would check with the guys and call me, but no call! The table lamps were not boxed and were thrown in the truck. We now have torn and dirty lamp shades. I guess you get what you paid for....lesson learned! So, I really hope who has our things are enjoying them. One item was from Scotland and cannot be replaced. Oh, the people that we bought the house from used the same movers and they have items missing as well. The owner assured us that all of his movers were vetted. No, there is a thief or two! Got what I paid for - the CHEAPEST service possible. Good Luck trying to get a hold of the Claims Dept to discuss the damages since every time I call for some reason they are never in the office to take the call. The claims are done thru mail which is a slower and harder process (having to print the pictures, buying mail stamps and just time consuming). Instead of just having an online portal to write the damages and upload picture related to the damages. Using the cheapest Service at the end was not worth it. read more

I need to move household goods, consisting of furniture that I sell on eBay. The garage is full of furniture. I will also have boxes of smaller items. There is a bedroom suite, craft room furniture, four sofas. I have the contents of a house but just not in the traditional places in the house because I did use the house for keeping items that I will eventually sell. There is nothing unusual about the items to be moved..... YET, the owner, Beth, says she doesn't do this kind of move. This was my home for 16 years, with furniture in the "proper" room. We downsized, and we did not need all of our furniture, so now we want to move it to a storage facility.......PLEASE TELL ME WHAT IS SO DIFFERENT other than the rooms are not set up to live in as they usually would be? A move is a move. Furniture is furniture. REALLY? YOU DON'T MOVE FURNISHINGS TO STORAGE??? I cannot believe a moving company won't move furniture to storage. My wife wanted a square grand piano moved that weighed an awful lot. Two different moving companies came to the house, looked at it, shook their heads and said they would not do it. One of these companies was a piano company that moved pianos all the time, and the other company was the one recommended by the piano moving company. As I said, neither one of them was willing to do it. I called budget movers, and the next day they were at the house. They move the piano without any damage to the piano or the home. The crew that came was polite, professional, and courteous. I could not have asked for a better moving experience. They come highly recommended and I would use them again if I ever need to. read more

During the loading of possessions, a large terracotta lamp was broken by one of the movers. The lead mover took pictures and indicated a claim could be filed with the company's insurer. After several weeks and numerous emails attempting to determine the progress of the claim, a company representative indicated a check was being issued. It has been approximately three weeks now, and no reimbursement has been received. We can not recommend this moving company based upon our experience in trying to resolve a very simple issue. read more

Without a doubt these guys made life easier. After 29 years and raising 3 boys in Evans, GA my husband and I relocated to North Carolina. We interviewed several moving companies but couldn't find one to operate on OUR schedule. We moved to a rental for 1 year while we build our retirement home, so as you can imagine things were a bit crazy. From the minute I met Jim who came out to give us our quote I liked him and felt at ease. They are a very relaxed, laid back company so not much excites them. They would do what ever we needed even if that meant unloading in North Carolina on a Saturday. I packed my own boxes, but they do that for you too if you'd rather. After 29 years I had no idea what was there. After all was said and done I think no body had an idea of what was there. It required an extra truck to move us but Jim stuck to his quote and didn't charge us anymore, we added fuel costs for that truck which was a drop in the bucket. The guys who loaded us were the ones who unloaded us the next day. They even stopped to collect our storage unit in Augusta along the way. I could never thank them enough. We have already arranged for them to come back to North Carolina and move us 25 minutes down the road to our new home. After all the horror stories you hear about moving companies this one is a dream. They were the most respectful and polite bunch of guys I have worked with in years. You'll have a lot of great laughs too... Thanks for everything guys we were dreaming to ever think we could have done this ourselves.. read more

Call someone else or do it yourself. Do not call these people. We told them we had a budget to work with and they told us that was no issue, they billed by the hour. We planned to just have them move the heavy furniture and then get as many of the big boxes as they could. They showed up and told us they could get the whole thing done in 3 hours. They spent the first hour, hour and a half "arranging" things, they also felt like it was okay to frequently take breaks, eat a small snack. We called the manager, thinking surely there was a mistake, he came out to our job site and instead of apologizing proceeded to tell use we were lying, had "definitely" been told that we should have gotten an estimate first, and said the movers weren't qualified to estimate how long it would take, so we shouldn't have listened to them and then told us we should have moved ourselves if we couldn't afford to pay them for dragging their tails and taking nearly twice as long as promised. While he was still there we noticed that they had left a deep gouge in my 75 year old coffee table, they neglected to point this out to us and had just left it off to the side, even putting a box on top of it. After they left, we found that they had broken the glass shelves to my wife's hutch, they took things apart that didn't need to be disassembled to be moved, then left them in pieces for us to put back together, even left one thing still taped up in a moving blanket, because it was too tough for them to get to. They boxed up toys that were already packed in smaller bins and just did a ton of completely needless work. It was almost like they were trying to rack up the hours. When we went back to our old house, we found that they had left nearly ever heavy box, and awkward to move piece of furniture, it's like they only moved the easy stuff. They were super inflexible, wouldn't let us schedule what time they came, said they only started at 8:30, which made things a bit harder for us since it didn't really fit in our schedule. read more

Horrible. They promised me 3 men and a large truck. To me a large truck is 20/24ft especially when you tell them you are moving from a 4 bdrm almost 3000 sq ft house! They did send 4 men and 2 15ft trucks but then sent the other 2 guys to another job after an hour leaving me with 2 men and this small truck. The job took a total of 2 days!! 2 days to move from Evans to Martinez! 15mins away! This move costed us 1200.00. That's ridiculous. By the 3rd load I called the company and said they need to do another load and put furniture back together still so now it looks as if they will be here til 2 am. Her reply was they will work til the job is done. :O Someone should inform her she has people working for her, not robots. The only good thing I can say is the men they sent were fantastic. A waste of my time! I scheduled to have some items moved in my home, and from one storage facility to another, for today, August 28, 2018, at 9:00 am. It is now 10:30 am and I have not gotten a call or text to reschedule or cancel the appointment. When I called Budget,(twice) my calls were unanswered (I left a message). I rearranged my schedule to accommodate this appointment and they won't answer the phone. At 10:50, two movers showed up after I had hired someone else. With this blatant unprofessionalism, and disregard for customer's time, I wouldn't trust them with my valuables. I have hired another company. read more

Very nice, worked hard, moved 3 PODS and a 26Ft truck in 3 hours. Only problem was some of the furniture (beds) were not put together right, and they left before that could be corrected, but otherwise I would definitely use them again. They were quick to point out damages that other movers had caused, before it was removed. read more

I set an appointment for 3 movers, for 3 hours. The guys moved 2 20 ft truckloads into a 3 story home within the scheduled 3 hours. They were very friendly, worked efficiently, and made sure no damage was done to a single item they moved. They were the best value i could find, and I couldn't ask for a better experience. read more

Do not use this company! We had a horrible experience. First of all, as previously mentioned, the truck that was sent was too small. Thankfully we weren't moving far, but they ended up having to take 2 trips to get it all. The movers are paid hourly and work SLOWLY. They did not cover our furniture and simply threw it on the ground and in the back of the truck, so everything was dirty when we got to the new house. They took smoke breaks near our uncovered furniture, so our new house smelled like smoke once everything was moved in. They also made a MESS at the old and new house. We will not be using them for future moves. read more

As it turns out, they sent me a message on Thumbtack that stated, "we have you scheduled for tomorrow and have no contact information." Well, that is interesting... how did you call me if you had no contact info? And, what business relies on Thumbtack as their primary communication tool. So, I guess, when I gave the representative of Budget Movers of Augusta my address and phone number, that did not constitute "contact information"! I spent half the finding someone to help me on HireAHelper. Thank goodness for them because Budget Movers really screwed me over. I will NEVER consider using them EVER! read more

DO NOT use this company unless you want to be left with damaged furniture. I hired this company to load my home into a rental truck that we would be driving to our new home. The truck was loaded in a way that many pieces of furniture were severely damaged. I contacted the company immediately to report the damages but they refuse to take any responsibility because they say they cannot prove that I did not damage the pieces myself or that they were not damaged while driving. I hired this company to load a moving truck. I would expect that when you hire "professionals" to load a truck that it would be loaded in a way that damages like this would not happen. I provided dozens of furniture pads and requested that their movers pad and wrap every piece of furniture in an effort to avoid having damages. This was not done on all pieces and therefore I am now left with severe damage on many items. The idea that I caused this damage myself is preposterous. Why would I damage my own furniture, especially with how expensive most of it is. I have a $2600 Bassett furniture dining set that has 4 wood chairs and 2 cloth chairs. 5 of these chairs were all damaged in the exact same place because their movers did not wrap/pad or protect them at all and they were loaded upside down on top of other furniture pieces. The 4 wood chairs are all scratched, chipped or gouged literally in the exact same place on each chair. 1 cloth chair is torn in exactly the same place as the 4 wood chairs are damaged. I also had a leather office chair that was loaded this way and has a tear in the leather in the exact same area as the other chairs. This should be evidence enough that I did not cause this damage. I don't think I could cause the exact same damage to 6 pieces of furniture in the exact same places if I tried. I only wish I had taken a picture of how we found the truck to be loaded when we got to our new home so I could have shown them how neglectful their movers were, but I was so shocked when I saw this that it did not cross my mind to photograph it. I sent them photographs of all the damaged pieces as well as photographs that clearly showed the furniture before being loaded and damaged by their movers. The before photos clearly showed the excellent condition of the furniture prior to their company being involved but they said they didn't show things "clear enough" and they still could not take responsibility. Also, against my better judgement I paid them in cash because I was told their office was closed on Saturdays and I would not be able to call into the office and use a credit card. In my complaint to the Better Business Bureau they replied and said that was not true and that their office is open on Saturdays but they do not take credit cards or checks because then people stop payment and they have to chase them down for payment. If this had been explained to me this way (and it was NOT) you better believe that would have been a red flag for me and I would not have even used them. If they have that many people stopping payment on them, they obviously have many unhappy clients with unresolved issues as myself. It is certainly my fault for trusting them and paying cash and you can rest assured I will never make that mistake again. I would most definitely have stopped payment after the damages I have to my furniture if I had been able to. I was also very reasonable in my request for resolution. I paid them $380 for their service. I asked for a refund of either half of what I paid or for them to send a furniture repair person to my home to repair the damages. They could have picked whichever option was cheaper for them but at most it would have cost them $190 (which does not even begin to cover the damages to these expensive items). I have always paid movers to load my home into a rental truck and then drive the truck myself to the new location. I have never had a moving company refuse to take responsibility for their employees neglect and not make any attempt at a resolution. This company is totally dishonest and unethical. I had high hopes that they would do the right thing but their actions and lack of taking any responsibility show the type of people they are. They were also very unresponsive to my initial complaints and inquiries for resolution. Often times it was over a week before I would get replies and I would have to contact them more than once to even get one. It is sad that they choose to take advantage of people and run their business in this way. There are many moving companies in Augusta. Steer clear of Budget Movers. They are simply a bunch of crooks. read more
